In for JOS 2018. Planning on recapturing an FTP of 300 and a body comp that would actually make that number impressive. Also seeking a run fitness that will help make up for make back of the pack swims later in the year. IMLP, Redman 70.3 and IMAZ.
I’ll be in for the Jan OS. Goals for this year are to have developed some strength this fall—particularly running durability and overall functional strength—and to carry that strength into training, so that I don’t develop a running injury, and hopefully improve my swim performance. “A” race is IMLP, then I will switch to marathon training, with the goal of running a BQ for 2020.
I'm in for JOS. Goals: Not a fast runner, would like to get a 40 vDOT. Races: Haven't decided which IM to do, but plan to do much more local shorter races. I need to race more.
I'm in for JOS too. Goals: become able to ride a bike, get that FTP higher, work on a steady ride on the "long ride", stay healthy and keep progressing in all 3 discplines as I will keep swimming once a week. Races: 70.3 MT in June, IMLP in July and IMAZ in November
Hi, I’m reporting in late, but I’ll be there. Right now I’m trying to stay present with the run durability program. Races next year: QUASSY HALF and IMLP. GOALS: get faster on bike and run and improve body comp. Look forward to training with you all!
In for JOS with goals to find out what riding with power for the first OS (only my second) can do to improve my bike and also need to improve holding onto pace in the run. Going to try and get on zwift as well as I would like to go sub six in 70.3 Races: CDA 70.3, Best In the West HIM, Madison Triathlon Oly distance and several local running races.
I'm IN! Although, I'm going to off road it a bit in the first few weeks - I have a cycling holiday in Southern Spain in the books for Feb. My Focus is:
1) Buy a new bike before JOS starts....mine is completely trashed from a weird accident (I was fine, bike was not)
2) Improve Body Comp (really this is my biggest goal this year)
3) Enjoy the hard work and see improvements to run and bike
I don't have any planned races this year other than a half marathon in April. I'm going to start getting back into the rhythm of training and see where that takes me.
So, is everyone itching to get the JanOS started??
I've been hitting the streets pretty hard (by my standards) -225 miles the past two months, and recently started zwifting. I doubt I'll do many of the long weekend rides as I prep for my April 1 ultra, but will be in for the weekday rides and all the runs (plus some more).
@Jason Veith & @Steve Boer I love the OS and the team vibe produced during this 14 weeks is one of the best things in EN. Unfortunately I can't say I've been hitting it hard but putting in some workouts. 2-3X swimming, mostly 3 and was running 3X/week until my foot starting bothering me. Now I've switched over to more cycling to make up the slack.
I'm just trying to survive Hoff's Christmas weigh loss challenge with 1lb left to meet my goal by the 22nd of December. That will put me at 228lbs so still a lot of work to do but only 3lbs off my IM weight of 225 last year.
This will be my first OS. I've been really consistent with the run durability and have gotten setup with Zwift (although no new computer like @Gordon Cherwoniak). I'm planning on run and bike tests the week prior to OS.
Yeah @Jason Veith i feel like January is going to be pretty good. The team vibe so far has been great. Lots of motivation at every turn, especially in zwift universe. @Randy Peene my first OS as well. @Gordon Cherwoniak great job on the weight loss man. I have really reduced my casual carb intake, unfortunately my weight hasn't changed much go figure.
I am in! It's all about the run this year for me as I am stepping up from 70.3 to Long Course this year. Need to be ready for that marathon! (Long Course Weekend, Wales, July 2018).
I'm in and amped to go! This is my first year with EN so my first experience with OS. I've been going consistently strong for a couple months now and feeling the gains already but am excited to start an actual program
My 1 goal is to kick my own ass and be ready for Ironman Boulder to push/pull my father.
I’m in. Second OS here so I have a much better understanding on what we are building. Ready for my second year at IM distance.
Goals for 2018: - Stay away from the OR or ER: in 2017 had to deal with more medical crap than ever before in my life - Body composition: time to drop some weight. At 6.3” and 218 lbs, racing for more than 13 hours takes its toll. Goal is to go down to 195 lbs. So far have dropped 6 lbs. - Swim: I’m stuck at 1:30:00. Time to focus on technique and bring that time down - Run: A lot of room for improvement. Need to avoid injuries and be able to run longer
Races: - IM Victoria 70.3 - IM Louisville - Local sprints, Olympics, half marathons and bike rides
Goals for 2018: - First IM distance triathlon - Improve training consistency - Make some improvements to swim form in order to get out of the back of the pack
Races / Events: - IM Austria - Ride Across Britain
Hi Everyone, I’m IN for JOS. Goal for 2018: Bike-FTP improvement by 20% Relearn how to swim using Mike Roberts’ writing. BQ in Boston? Still looking for a full IM race.
Goals: 1) Stay healthy and have fun; 2) Become a better cyclist 3) 4h50 at 70.3 MT 4) IMLP in July 5) Get close to the 10hr mark at IMAZ with my friend @David Richmond
Since IMLOU I did the 3 RDP - 9,8 and 7 months out and did a good volume of Zwift racing. Feeling ready to get on a plan that has more variety in it.. cuz yes RDP are efficient but they are not sexy
I am in for JOS as well. I am a first timer to the OS and looking to complete IMMD in late September. Hoping to improve my FTP while running injury free.
I am in for JOS '18! This will be O/S number 5 for me. My races set so far are Tupper Lake Tinman at the end of June and then IMLP! I am not sure if I will add any other races. I am already booked for the epic team camp in Mallorca. My goals for this O/S include continuing my run durability, add swimming and improving my bike power. I have been running 5 to 6 days per week and averaging 30+ miles per week since September. MY last FTP test a few weeks ago was 255W. The swim is my most difficult sport to find training time for. I live in a veritable dessert for pools. The closest pool with consistently available swim times is over 40 minutes away. The admin cost is very high.
Holding my RDP volume/pace during the Run Challenge, sitting upright and letting myself get dropped while Zwifting, and swimming with a small group a couple days each week has my hip abductor healing and places my fitness at the highest level ever starting JOS. I have a new pain cave, Stryd will make my treadmill and indoor track sessions more productive, and my (very) old Computrainer has an Erg Mode that, while annoying on Zwift, keeps me on a leash during bike interval sessions. OK... I really want to get a smart trainer and race, but now that Santa has come and gone, the Easter Bunny is my new best friend.
Okay time for the goals section of my OS a little detailed so sorry for the length.
1) Swimming 2X throughout the OS with a goal of technique improvement. Goal 1000M TT @2:15 or 22:30. Swam 1:36:00 (2:29/100M) at Lake Placid 2017. 2) Bike current 220 FTP - Goal 250. Last year: wk 1 208 wk 8 220 wk 14 238. 3) Run consistency, get back to 4X/week running. Seemed to have ramped up running again too fast but the x factor I believe was carting/carrying my kid around too much which caused my feet (PF) to come flair up a little. I caught it early and have been off running 3 weeks but we will see as I can only limit carrying him so much as he's only 9 months old so... 4) Weight loss - 14lb loss I'd be satisfied with but sub 200 would be the super secret goal. I finished Hoff's Holiday weight loss challenge at 227.5 I was hoping to come in lighter than that but I've not been good since the finish. Starting Jan 1 the core diet plans will be coming out but thinking around 228-229 might be my starting point for the OS. The final goal is to race Calgary 70.3, end of July at sub 190 lbs so I need to keep on track.
Bonus goal +10 watts biking for a 260 FTP which is my EN high several years ago. In March I believe I will have some extra training time as I'm off work for the month but daycare has been secured for my son. So essentially I'll have several extra hours to train and sleep for 4-5 weeks. I'll assess this the couple weeks prior but given the limited run ramp up it will be a bike focus block for me. Look for the thread in the forums as I'll be looking for team input prior to hitting up Coach P.
Season Goal: Sub 6 at Calgary 70.3 but @Scott Dinhofer has challenged me in an earlier post to not put limits on myself so this is the minimum acceptable level of performance coming off a PB of 15:42:49 at IMLP 2017.
This coming week is an off week for me, as Run Durability ended yesterday. I will still do activity but reduced from prior few weeks (literal zwiftathon). Is anyone testing this week? Run / bike ftp testing? I have a question about run testing. My background is a crappy runner. Used to only have two speeds: run or don't run. I have improved over the last year so that my TRP is just at or under 9:00/mile and my z4 is around 7:30/mile. I have read the wiki about run testing either to pace or by power. I just got a Stryd and am still learning the ins/outs of the thing. I also read Jim Vance's book. Most recommend just letting the thing collect data on you for the first month or so before paying attention to specific numbers / analysis. Stryd also recommends the critical power test to get started to at least get a bead on your critical power (3/6/9 test etc.). So my question is...do I do standard pace test (5k track test) and let the thing collect in the background? Do I do the Stryd critical power test? Do I do both separated by a few days? Curious to know what others are doing in this regard. Thanks.
IN. "A" race IMLP. American Zofingen G. Chris Gleason Memorial Duathlon ahead of that just to make sure I get acquainted with pain. A lot of work to do. Let's get it on.

So far my 2018 races are 70.3 Raleigh and IM Lake Placid. I'm thinking about 70.3 Atlantic City and maybe a couple local triathlons.
Looking forward to suffering with everyone.
Can't wait to tap in to all the team mojo
