  • Joining in for the JOS. Goal for JOS is to improve cycling power. Ran a lot in 2017 so feeling run durable right now.

Races planned: Chattanooga 70.3 in May; and USA Triathlon Ultradistance Championship in September at Redman. That will be my first full Ironman distance race! It’s on my home course where I train each week. John Culbertson read my mind on a qualifying strategy for the ITU race in 2019 in Spain.  Lot’s of work to do!
  • @Tony Puckett: We have work to do this JOS... hope Lee Walthers doesn’t go long
  • @Tony Puckett: We have work to do this JOS... hope Lee Walthers doesn’t go long

@John Culberson You got that right. Walthers is in my age group so my only hope is to sneak qualify at 2nd. Another trick is getting within 30% of Walthers' time.
  • Joining Jan OS after a Fall Off Season.

    Goals:
    1) Improve bike fitness and power
    2) Increase run durability with consistency
    3) Reinforce swim technique by adding in 2-3x swims week (just took an Effortless Swiming class and want to reinforce what I’ve learned).  Also live in So Cal and have a 25yrd, laned pool, 30 seconds from home.

    2018 races:

    May - IM 70.3 St. George (B)

Great test of race execution on a stunning & challenging course.  Not sure whether & when to adjust OS plan, or just finish JOS and go execute without much race specific prep?

June - Orange County Olympic (C) Home course.

Great swim in the warm, calm waters of Lake Mission Viejo.  1400ft elevation bike, 600ft run in an Oly.  Good stuff!

    October - IM 70.3 Arizona (B)

One month out from the full IMAZ.  Not recommended timing.  But it came with the package. Will be a good race day rehearsal for logistics.

    November - IM Arizona (A)

  • Hi all,
I'm in for the Jan OS - last year got cratered by medical robots, but I'm back finishing a few run durability sessions. I've only committed to a limited race season - testing the waters so to speak, but also traveling to some good places!
I'll be Zwift'ing, once I figure out how to find the group rides - lol.

Running Fit Run Camp - Cancun  B) (I know, someone has to do it! )
Glass City 1/2 Marathon - Toledo
    Blue Ridge Camp
Hawai'i Epic Camp Tri Camp - Kona  B)
    Hawai'i 70.3 June 3 - 'A' race.  B)

  • @John Culberson @Tony Puckett I'll be joining you in Spain 2019 via Qualifying @ Miami early November. I will be sneaking into the Jan OS in March for the final few weeks, after I take time off to ski.
  • @Marc Tanguay, @Tony Puckett, @Al Truscott: Yeah... my current plan is Qualify for Spain at USAT Ultra, and come back 8 weeks later for a PR at IMAZ.
  • In for JOS
Goals: Run everyday, bump my ftp to previous levels (hopefully close to that magical 4 W/kg
Races: Bend camp, Pacific crest half iron (June), Kona (legacy spot confirmation coming at the end of February hopefully)
    Age up year for me!
  • Ready to roll for JOS.

Goals: Eat clean, foam roller every day, be consistent, positive attitude, work hard.  The rest will take care of itself.
Races:  Short stuff in the summer to use all my newly acquired speed :) and a late season 70.3
  • I'm in for JOS!

    Goals:

    - Uber goal:  Get/stay healthy, maintain a positive attitude, and enjoy the journey rather than focusing on the race as the 'goal'.
    - Body comp: return that little Christmas present of 4 pounds and get back under 160 lbs.
    - Swim: Not be the last one out of the water!  Keep putting in work on the Vasa in the OS and hope it translates to in-water improvements.
    - Bike:  FTP >300 and find a saddle that let's me stay in the aero position for 56 mi.
    - Run: Get out of run jail.  Been nursing a run injury for 10 weeks now.  I'm cautiously optimistic that I can start running this coming week.  Goal is just to be able to run 13.1 by race day.

Races:  Uvas Sprint Triathlon (May), 70.3 Coeur D'Alene (June), 70.3 Santa Cruz (Sep).  Probably other stuff thrown in, but that's what's on the calendar at the moment.  Oh yeah, and a family trip to Europe in mid-July.

    Good times in 2018!
  • Hi team - I'm returning after a long hiatus - looking forward to JOS - looks like I have lots to catch up on and certainly need to rebuild. Will, as usual, be hacking the plan with Arizona RnR 1/2 next weekend (looking forward to getting out of the frigid weather of Wisconsin and actually run outside instead of a treadmill)! Then the Tour of Sufferlandria is in the beginning of February (a must do for Knights). Other than that, will work the plan and check out the team Zwift rides!

No 140.6 this year - set for Victoria 70.3 and Steelhead 70.3 - may add a few other local events and might be getting the ultra itch back!

Looking forward to reconnecting with you all!

  • New year, new OS, new shoes, new color even!
    Ready for the JOS!
  • Lets get this party STARTED!! Time to suffer, sweat and complain together.

    Goals for 2018
    1. Bend camp!!!!!!!
    2. Oregon Gran Fondo. Just going to do the 70 mile ride. Anyone local (TOM BOX) want to do it???
    3. Best in the West HIM.
    4. Sherpa Husband and EN friends at IMLP. Can't wait to go bobsledding.

Other than that. Have fun. I gave been argueing for several months now with a grumpy achilles. Have been in run jail for December while I negiotate terms. Just finished my second, break out of jail TM run. Felt really good. Coach has me limited to two miles. No incline. A few strides. Three times a week to start.  So we will see. #CPR.

Starting out with the highest FTP at the start of an OS to date. Increased 8 watts over last year. And i've been totally lazy this fall. I actually ate cookies. SHHHHH

Looking forward to rocking the world together. Hopefully I will be able to skip the FEbruary bout with the flu this year.

Relapse of a back issue will force me to be “super smart” this JOS. (I almost threw in the towel) Will switch to bike focus, avoid aero, and ease into the intensity. While current fitness is good... a focus on body comp, core strength, swimming, and run jail is my best shot at getting back on track. Coach P will have some good advice.
  • I'm In for the Run Focus Plan Level 1. My A races are IMLP 70.3 and Ghost Train 50k in October. My focus is FFF- fitness, fun, finish. I have a lot of work to do on body comp as well.
  • In for JOS.  Coming off 3 unstructured weeks after long run focused block.

    For 2018:
    Need to build FTP
Maintain body comp throughout the year that will include a lot of travel.

    Events planned so far are:
HITS Ocala OLY (warmup race), IM FL 70.3 (Haines City), Blue Ridge Camp, IM Raleigh 70.3 (maybe if schedule allows), IM LOU (A race)
  • In for JOS.  Coming off IMFL which I got DQd.  One week of recovery some light running then Thanksgiving, then sick with a severe cold for 2 weeks.  Back to run durability through the holidays.  Got to get my body comp back.  Got down to 235 for IMFL the lightest I've ben in 23 years. Weighed 267 this morning.  Didn't think it possible to gain over 30 lbs in about 6 weeks.  I'm in desperate need of motivation, and this was great motivation last year.  I'm in for 10 weeks then moving on to prepare for Gulf Coast 70.3 then Augusta 70.3 in September and ending with IMFL in November.  Bound and determined to finish this time. Of course there will be some 1/2 marathons and shorter tris on the way just to keep me focused.
  • I am in for JOS. I am a recent EN joiner so will be my first one. I am coming off RDP and my goal will be to ramp up for my first ironman at Mt Tremblant. Will do Syracuse 70.3 on the way too.
  • OK Guys - Core routine done and recorded!!  Game on - In the words on my 5 year old Son "Let's Do This"!
  • Any thought of a Group Me for the JOS?
  • This will be my 5th OS and the first time starting it off already injured.  A nasty fall ice skating has had me off of the bike for the past two weeks and nagging plantar fasciitis has nixed running for the past 4.5 months.  Fingers crossed that the last injection will keep the PF in check or at least manageable.

Goals will be a heavy bike focus to validate last year’s 275 FTP.

Body comp realized in the form of a 3.50 w/kg; currently below 3.0

Faith that my run game will return this season.

Exit the JOS less injured that I entered it.

  • Joining in the January OS -- this will kickoff my first focused tri season in 2 years.  After moving to Germany in 2015, I have trained sporadically, raced a handful of times and traveled a ton.  This year I hope to get back in to training consistently, and take some fitness to some European races.  After struggling with hip and hamstring issues and hardly running last year, one focus will be to get my run fitness and strength back.  I hope to re-discover the joy in focusing on the process and be able to go into some races with some goals.
Season will include Mallorca Camp, 70.3 Aix en Provence, 70.3 Kraichgau, and Ironman European Championships in Frankfurt.
  • Had to start my OS today with the ride...schedule with the boys is usually crazy on Tuesdays so Monday's will have to be my day on the bike.

    It's a good one!
  • In for the JOS (The greatest OS of the season in my honest opinion).  IMLP is the ultimate goal come July.  Personal redemption race for me x2.  Successful race in 2013 at IMLP after suffering a heart attack several years prior.  Closed that chapter.  Had a second heart attack in '14 (hello great genetics)... Have been racing mostly halfs since... IMLP '18 will be my second "comeback" race... Psyched to be joining you all once again!!

See you in LP, Jason.  The only thing better than a comeback is a second comeback.
  • The only thing better than having a structured bike workout is having one perfectly tailored to you and nailing it after not formally riding for 6 years. I love OS training! ❤
  • Just came off maintenance mode and in for the Jan OS. Haven't done this in a while in that I was doing private coaching the last couple of years. At 61 this is going to be primarily a running, short course, and recovery year for me but think I will head down to MiamiMan for the USAT championships.

Goals #1 be consistent with workouts while at the same time not blowing off family
             #2 See #1
#3 BQ again at Chicago this next October.
  • Just for some selfish mojo - finished Friday Core workout.  Only takes me about 10 minutes, so continue with yoga/core/trx/mobility maintenance.  Goal this week was go show up every day.  Day 5 in the books!  It's been too easy the last few years to put myself on the back burner to me a Mom - Very proud of myself for putting myself first EVERY DAY THIS WEEK - Let's do this!!
  • Went to my pool on post here at Fort Bragg, NC. Boiler is kaput and so it looks like no swimming for a very long time! Back to core exercises on Monday and Friday!
  • That sucks @Joe Hallatschekdoes your post have Vasa?
