11 runs in 12 days. Will do a double one day this weekend. Even though some of my weekday runs are only 1 mile, I think it is definitely helping. My 1 mile around the 'hood tonight was quite speedy for me, and I ran the hills, which I don't usually.
@ Pete - that tight calf thing is what has kept me running on the deadmill. Sounds like you were smarter than me when I first felt it mine last week.... I didn't listen and walk till it was a full on spasm. I think you did the right thing.
@ Kim - it's all about consistancy, looks to me you're doing great.
No tightness tonight - 10 more on the deadmill. Back up to my EPace which is a big improvement for me. No plans for any speed work anytime soon.
Got in 7 more on the DM this morning... My knee pain is down to a minor twinge now... Here were my very rough 1mi lap paces as I kept hitting the speed increase button if my knee felt okay for a while: 10:05, 9:00, 8:15, 7:55, 7:40, 7:30, 7:19
Short "double" yesterday leaves me short one run - 12 runs in 13 days. The weather up here will be beautiful this weekend, so I might be spending time on the bike. I guess that means bricks - Ughhh!
Almost wimped out last night.... getting cold & dark here in CT by the time I got home, but I didn't want to have to do 2 doubles this weekend so I sucked it up and did my hilly 1-miler around the hood. Longer runs this weekend. 1 week til the Hartford 1/2 marathon!
Beautiful 8-mile run on the Jack Rabbit trail in Lake Placid this morning. Foliage is at peak here. Going to put in an easy 3-5 miler this evening and I will be all caught up!
@ Kevin - oh, to be in the Adk's..... Makes me remember the years I spent there decades ago.
Yesterday was my first outside run in a week. Nice warm sunny day... went for my last long run before MDI - 16 miles mostly easy. On my return trip I met a friend (who ran from Maine to Florida with his son last year) and he told me about a new local half marathon his brother organized and wanted me to join him..... so I did.
Ran a 1:44:37 @ 7:59 Great race - over 100 showed up. Got my first ever AG award. Placed 3rd in 50-59. Yeah, I know, small race but hey.... it is legit.
So, time for me to taper a bit. Going to try and keep my daily runs to 5 or 6 miles leading up to next weeks race. The hard part will be running the day after the marathon.
Streak is still alive - ran with nasty cold the last 5 days and think I might have killed it - never got into chest or else I would have stood down. Pace is gradually getting faster as I am dialing into mid 8:30's instead of my EZ pace of 9:05.
Daniels would call that pace "no man's land" as it is too hard for EZ and too EZ for T/HM/M pace runs. But for now I don't really care as I am running solely by feel each day...
got her done - Run #15 of 30 - 18 mile road race @ jersey shore. Right calf very sore/tight on first step of race....thought about just calling it a day right then an there...decided to try 1 mile...felt okay if I run slower w/short steps, high cadence. Keep moving thru mile 7 - it actually feels a little better, not getting worse, pick up pace a bit. Feeling the 84 degree sunny indian summer day by mile 14 - but still moving okay - calf tight but I know I'll finish...Finally done - 2:39xx - not a great finishing time for me but given the situation I'll take it and move on.... Calf very tight, sore right now even after soaking it in pool/whirlpool/ice etc. may have to take a few days off and double down later next week. I'll play it by ear. End of season, 46th b-day around the corner - think my body may be tellng me it doesn't like all this running stuff...I just try not to listen..
I did an awesome 9.2 mile trail run today up at Bear Mountain (NY). It took ~2 hours, but it also had several thousand feet of elevation change. My knee felt a lot better on the rocky trail than yesterday when I simply run on the road... The weather was perfect and it was an awesome morning. So this is why people actually like running!
I missed Friday because I chose to do a 50 mile ride with old roadie friends. Did get around to do the run. 5.5 miles today. The distance will start ramping up this week, with some speedwork thrown in. I've already got 2 to make up - maybe 3 after tomorrow. Planning a 80 mile ride in the Thanksgiving day heat!
Made it 1/2 way through the 30 day challenge! I'm going to stand down for a bit as I've been working on some right hammy issues and some rest may help expedite the healing process. Per PT, after 1/2 marathon on Sat., will take a week off of running, then see how it is. I'd rather deal with it now in the off-season than when I'm in the OS or in season and possibly training for my first IM!
10K race today. Already 5 point V-Dot bump, granted mostly just getting back to my 'normal' self. Still feels really good. I can definitely see how the run consistency does pay off. Keep up the good work!
To the track with someone slightly slower than me, but I felt like I was flying..... 6miles today. I've missed 4 days, and completed one double. Time for a little catch-up.
Struggling with a bit of the flu, still managing to get a run in each day, 14 out of 14 so far, but the last couple have been pretty short and easy. Hoping will come right in a few days and can then bump up the volume again.
Well done @EVERYBODY! This is much harder than I thought. I'm on 10 days straight and counting and starting to feel the accumulated fatigue. I still need to work in some 2-a-days to catch up for the first sporatic injury filled week... I'm inspired by everyone else's posts and just looking at the spreadsheet! Keep 'em coming!
I hear you on the fatigue John. 20 days in a row seems like a lot. Then I think about the Beer Runner who ran 365 in a row, plus a beer. I'm thinking we should add the beer component and it should help. Ran 7 today at EP but boy it felt harder than it should have. Have 15-20 looming either Friday or Sunday to keep the wife company. At least it will be slow.
Thank you so much for starting this challenge! If it wasn't for it, I would be spending most of my post-IM/pre-OS days sitting on my ass. There are at least a few days (including today) where I wouldn't have worked out at all, but I at least got in a run. Runs have only been right around 30min, but it's better then nothing.
Sleep won yesterday. Like Daniella says, I likely would have been doing precious little after IMOO until the Nov OS. The 15 runs to date have really motivated me to take the OS by storm!
Great to see the mojo seeping into everyone - getting them going. One of the things I think about when trying to talk myself out of going for that run is:
"Have I ever been sorry I went for a run?" - The answer - 100% of the time is a resounding NO! Sorry I missed one? ABSOLUTELY! Everytime, even when injured.
Another 7.6 on the DM tonight making 147 total in 19/20 in the challenge. Should be an interesting weekend. I'll be running a marathon with zero taper and no real training plan since the beginning of September. My current PR is 3:31 so I don't expect to be much under 3:45. We'll see.

Nice work everyone... keep posting the miles!
Another 5.5 for me today. 2 mi wu, 4x800 @ 6:10-20, then an easy mile @ 7:30.
8 days so far but starting to get a cold...
10 for 10 so far, went 4.8 this morning and felt pretty crappy for first two then settled in. Going to go 3 after work just for the hell of it.

@Kim you gotta listen to your body, this is just for fun. ounds like a good idea to stand down.
I have 13 run n 12 days and did a 10K today with each mile 15 ec faaster than the previous.
@ Paul - nice bump in the 10K. Consistancy really helps with fatigue tolerance.
6 miles today. Legs felt thick and heavy after the big weekend of running. 16/17 for me so far.
Keep up the good work!

Seven more miles today makes me nineteen for nineteen on the spreadsheet (and a total of 21 with 2 runs before the challenge started).
Thanks to all for posting!
