Nice job Tucker & John.... Way to get back at it Kim - steady and easy is fine especially coming back from injury
Well I wrapped up my 30/30. 152 miles and my body feels pretty good - it will probably expect to run tomorrow. But, I will let legs rest up some then next weekend do a fun 15k obstacle course in Queens, NY (including stair climbs in Arthur Ashe stadium and Citi Field) followed by 5k the following weekend. And starting 11/1 will do a 30 day block of swimming before Dec OS, but won't stop running entirely. Nothing like working on your weaknesses.
Really enjoyed this 30/30 run block and the forum and worksheet were great motivators. I think it built a solid base and running strength and hopefully it will carry thru to OS.
I hate you scrawny sh*ts. With today's run I am at 29 runs in 28 days. I have not even been on my bike since my last race at Augusta and so Monday's NOV OS bike test should be fun. Maybe I'll ride one day this weekend ... ... ...
I am loving the consistency in running right now and I can honestly say it has been at least 13 years since I have been this consistent.
Thanks John for starting this. I think I'll end on day 30 with a double nickle.
And I am done!!!! Finished up today with a double run to catch up the one day I missed due to the flu. Have run every day of the last 30 except for that. Great support here and loved the challenge to keep me honest and going, will post the new FTP after I start NOS on 11/7. Main thing for me was consistency anyway and getting the body ready for the demands of the OS and hoping to go injury free this year!
Good luck all - keep it going if you haven't already finished - the end is near!!
I finished my 30 on Tuesday!!! I had to do a bunch of doubles near the end as I missed 4 days out of the 1st week due to my knee injury. My last few runs were run without a knee brace and without any pain. My legs definitely need a few days rest before I jump into the OS. Thank you all for your support and inspiration. It would have been much more difficult and lonely to fill in an empty spreadsheet every day! I don't think I got any faster during these 30 days, but I do think I set myself up for some big gains when I start working on my speed.
I am done as well and ended up with 31 runs in 30 days today. I also feel the need for a few down days before starting the OS. I did feel able to continuing pushing and ran every run as a negative split.
I have not been this consistent since the mid-80's. My major goal was no structural issues AT ALL during this challenge, just as it was from the past Tri season.
Done and recovering... Thought I was going to finish 30 in 30 on Sunday but all the miles and the marathon in the middle proved to be too much fatigue. I stood down Sunday and by Monday realized that I would be better off to rest and recover before the start of NOS.
The consistancy got me to the marathon and beyond, helped with my mental focus, but most importantly it reminded my of what I really like to do.... RUN.
Thanks for starting this JW - and thanks to all for sharing.
Wound up with 27 runs in 30 days. Missed 4 days and made up with a double after my first miss. Lost 3 days due to a business trip and started more quality for an upcoming 15K and just didn't have the gusto to add in some recovery runs at night. Have a 5K tomorrow - not expecting much improvement - would love to go under 21:15...
