  • Hey gang Day 2 of the challenge, had to do some clearing to get out the door today(kidding this was 2011 challenge pic ) Well the plan today was go steady, footing not the greatest but just get it done.So no threshold points today. Overall able to get in over 14 mi in 2:23 hrs. Temp today a little warmer than yesterday a balmy -11 C/ 12 F  but felt like -18 C/ 0 F. In all 17 pt day. Hmm Badger boy is just killing it out there. But alas only day 2, may have to re tool some stategy. Peter sorry Brenda is doing the core challenge while I lead this one in the household. Glad to see Simon and you are on the Ottawa Gangster team, thumbs up and Glad to see you 2 r out running together over the holiday's. Till tomorrow gang.

  • @Kylie Walker - I agree with you, that partial Miles should not count.. I am not going to win either, but if you are going to count .5 of a mile, then why not count .1 or .2 of a mile.
If I run 1 hour and 55 minutes that is still one hour....So in my humble opinion 9.9 miles should equal 9 miles. Then we could also there is the point of "Elapsed Time" vs. "Moving Time", but I digress.
In the end it is all good fun.

@Steve, Great pic. Nice swim fins.

    Happy Holidays.

  • I should know this. What's my threshold pace? Is it the zone 3 number? zone 4?

Another day, another hour of disbelief that I can run. 7 miles, temps in the 20's, over an hour = 9 more points.

  • Goose egg for yesterday but 8 miles today in 1:19 no threshold miles 43 degrees 9 points.
  • Rest day = 3 miles in a balmy 38 degree temp (heat wave!). 3pts.
  • Thanks, Al. I am sure I will have more questions I am supposed to know the answers to.
  •  Well here we are day #3 of the run challenge up here in the great white north. Well I had a plan today 30 km(18.85 mi) outside and finish the last 12 km(7.35 mi) on the treadmill. So I brought fuel for 30 km but man the footing was like running on sand today. At km 25 I was in dire need of fuel and no snow footing man I needed a sniffer dog to find bare pavement. Able to wobble back the last 3 mi to the house. Refuel as best I could warmed up(turned on) the tready and banged out the last 12 km. So in all Ottawa Sleeper cell unofficial marathon done not a Boston qualifier for sure but If I was a poker player it was an "All in " day. Oh yes then it was time for a much needed Snow tub . Overall 42.2 km completed Time 3:11 first 30 km, last 12 km 1:!5 and change. And no there were no threshold points(R U nuts), temp pts pic above tell's that story. Well gang see you all tomorrow !

PS - Hey Badger boy see the warm up jacket, brought you along for the day ! (No pts allowed though)

  • Yesterday was all dreadmill.... hitting the pavement today... everyone running in snow makes me feel like a wuss! But I'm puerto rican ... is that excuse enough?! haha
  • I was a little sad when I saw that we had a warm spell in Chicago today. I want my bonus point!
  • Oh my friend we have 2 more 20 and one 26 in the next 7 days. It's been fun PLUS we are doing a Sufferfest video after each. Yesterday was revolver over 1.0 intensity and today was rubber glove that damned near killed me. Nice work today btw!!!! My hats off to you. Now climb on the trainer and do revolver to make it even.
  • Steve Ross, I have no words! That's dedication.
  • @ Rachel, yeah temp pts for you everybody(clap, clap, clap)!

@Badger boy, your dedication kills me(impressed), I am deep in the Nov OS and following the bike as assigned !
