Question from someone on the outside of the 4.0 club looking in.... after a very rocky season marked by too much work, not enough sleep, and not enough training, I've plateaued around 3.75 (290w @ a race weight of 170, which is very skinny for me at 6'2"). My Vo2 is close to 120% of FTP, so I don't think that's the limiter. Have people tried anything special to break through 4.0, or is it really as simple as consistent training with sleep?
I hear ya, Dan. I'm also on the outside looking in, but it's more like from Bulgaria looking in
I'm still following things here but it is hard sometimes. As for this club, I'm hoping that I'll remain in the 2.4W/Kg club. My weight is getting up there in this summer Season of the Witch (that's what life is like now). I wonder if when I ever get back to training I'll be able to crank out 200 watts in 20 minutes. The motor deficits on my left side are my current project. At least it is kind of like core work.
Keep up the good work, everybody. I'm not dead yet but it does have me thinking differently. Maybe some day I'll be able to do stuff like chaperone a blind athlete through a race or something. Sorry to be a downer. You can understand why I'm not postin much these days.
First indoor test of the November OS. I've been slacking the last 3 months and haven't been eating well either. The 2 X 20' test gave me 280 1st 20' and 291 2nd 20' for an FTP of 283 and a W/Kg of 3.3. I started my last OS at 264 Watts and 3.2 W/Kg so I'm ahead of the curve there. I'm really going to/need to focus on the Kg side of things for the next couple of months.
