I finally have a real FTP number from a real power meter. I tested this morning and it is 216 which I am pretty happy about. 216 puts me at 3.57 w/kg. Amazing how the VO2 max number ended up being almost exactly 120% of my FTP, 260 watts for 5 minutes!
I was a bit disillusioned when I got my power meter because I was using virtual power in trainer road and it had my FTP wayyy inflated. Now that I am back to earth I am looking forward to continuing to work on my real number, still got a long way to go to 4.0

As you know, we ride with the same people frequently. Folks with / without power, and on a wide range of terrain. You'll learn a LOT by observing the people around you, guestimating their FTP's and w/kg when they are next to you, etc. In other words, we live in a great place, terrain and people-wise to learn a lot of power lessons just by paying attention. For example, if Dino puts in a big surge on a climb, I can look at my dial, estimate what he's putting up and determine of the break is gonna stick or not. Usually not . And you'll notice I basically never go after Haroon and a few others...I know they will come back
Thanks Rich. Good advice, I will definitely increase my awareness on the road I now want to pour over race data from people around my size and compare power to get a sense of how I might do in a race!

Cool. Just remember that old age and treachery beats youth and exuberance. And that I know every hill, turn and grade change within a 20 mile radius of Pasadena

Usually not, but sometimes the breakaway wins.... Everybody cheers for the breakaway.....
@kori you better get cracking! I like to drop most people that I ride with. It is demoralizing for them. Then I rest a few miles up when they cant see me and say I slowed down cause I knew you were back there somewhere
And I highly doubt you're in jeopardy of getting chicked by me. BUT, if you do.....maybe Withrow can give you some advice on how to handle that.
(OH NO, SHE DIDN"T!!!!!.......Oh, yes, she did.)
Ouch!!! I'm working hard so that doesn't happen again .
Ray, I did figure out a way to slow her down though. Just make sure she's severely dehydrated for the few days before she rides. In that condition, she can barely make it 70 miles if it's also really hot and you make sure she forgets her on bike nutrition. Ask me why I know.
I just finished the 8 week get faster plan and I saw a ~15% increase in FTP which is awesome! I am now going to be switching over to the HIM plan. Do you think I will continue to see any FTP increase, or am I now just going to be building endurance without affecting FTP much? I ask this because I don't plan on losing any weight, so am I basically stuck at my current w/kg until next season?

I love that idea! I volunteer you to build it!!!
I'm a little slow and just found it... Starting off with FTP 220 , 124.8lbs and a w/kg of 3.88 .
New number is 3.34
Plus, my wife said I look extra handsome today.....

@Peter Awesome numbers. And think what training WITH the PM will do for you outside. It is almost like cheating when racing.!!!

Team WKK,
I've made some edits to the first post in this thread, laying out the intent of the WKK, linking to the tracking spreadsheet, etc. Please review.
Thanks!

@Kori ok here is the truth I am going to get chicked and need to start riding more. Only thing is you wont know the way!
Not that a 3% improvement is all that smalll, especially after being sick for 2 weeks.

@Kori Not going to happen! You have no idea what you are in for. I know the spots to hit it.
@Kori Great improvement . You really must be a rocket on the bike.
