R N P....I am doing the 2010 November OS...Starting Nov 1st. I have tried to set my training schedule to reflect this to the Outseason Intermediate plan but it continues to default to something totally different. Not sure if it is a computer clitch or what????? I have tried to reset aleast half a dozen times and the same thing happens. If you could give me any insight this would help. OR is it not going to do or show anything until Nov 1st.

Also wondering if my Bike test and Run test will be the start of the outseason plan or if this should be done prior to the start of the OS.

    Thanks

    Carl

    Carl,

Have you tried changing the end date of your OS plan?  That is how you will get the plan to show the correct weeks.  But you won't need to do this until the end of the month anyway.  The tests will be on Monday of Week1 for the bike and Wednesday for the run.

  • I'm in for the November OS - new to EN. My first tri was a sprint back in 1985. I did a few of the Bud Light series "international" distances in the late 80s and then ...
I started back tri'ing a few years ago. I did two 70.3 races this year and can hardly wait to do more.

    2011 Schedule
    A= Vineman 70.3 -July
    1/2 Marathon in Feb.
Nothing else Planned as of yet.

    Goals:
Last year (first in Triathlons/EN) FTP started 161. Ended OS around 200, Ended season about 225.
This year. End OS above 250. End season above 260.
In the 3 races I did in 2010 and I was in the top 1/2 of the swim, the top 1/3 in the run and the bottom 1/4 on the bike. I want to be a middle of the packer on the bike.
Run goal- Just do a bunch of speed work to get faster. I'd love to break 1:30 for a 1/2 marathon in Feb.

I'm looking forward to this OS. I felt like last year I didn't know what pain was. After IMCDA this year, I now know what pain is. ;-) So, hopefully I can use that to push myself to get faster!
  • WOOO HOOOO! We got TRENT! Great to have you in the November crew!

FYI - My goal for the weekend is to get the pain cave set up. I will not wait until the last minute to get things set like last year!!
  •  Hey everyone...

I am in for Nov. OS but I am running NYC marathon Nov 7. Could throw a wrench in things. Think I should wait until Jan?

A race-unknown. Will do just HIM's this year and sign up for IMLP for 2012.

Also toying with an ultra ideas for 2011.

    What do you think?

  • I am in. I've been planning it just haven't made the formal announcement.

    Doing the advanced

My 2011 schedule is getting hammered out.

    June KS 70.3.

    July Tri rally

    August ??

September Hy-Vee and possibly Branson 70.3

    Goals for the OS

If I don't get a road bike do anything above z3 locked in the aero position. (I was bad at this last year and my ftp drop reflected it when I got outside and rode aero).

Before IMLOU my FTP was 274. No idea what I will enter the OS @ but I would like to see it around 290 to 300.

My vDot is locked at 55-56, I would like to crack 57 no idea what this will take, it didn't budge last year.

do some core/yoga/stretching 2-3x per week when I'm at work

Maintain good body composition. I'm 6'2 175 right now I race a little lighter.

    2011 goals

Don't race IM and get back the eye of the tiger, so I can rip IMOO in 2012

  • @Jeremiah - the marathon would seem to be a bit of a problem, assuming you're actually racing it. Week 1 of the Nov OS you'll be tapering and week 2 & 3 you'll be recovering. I don't think it would be the end of the world to miss the first few weeks. Plenty of people will have something come up (work, vacation, injuries) that will put them on the bench for a week or two over the 20 weeks, and that's just the way things go. You do what you can with the time you have. If your A race is later in the season, though, it would seem that taking a few weeks to decompress and recover might be a good idea. What's the rush to get into November, other than the obvious appeal of the other participants?

Well if Dan G is in..then I’m in!

    Aimee Hendrigan

racing in 40-44 - though as long as you guys will know me in OS, I’m 39!

    Boston, MA

    Intermediate

Races (pretty much the same as last year)

March – New Bedford half marathon

June – Mooseman (possibly Quassy instead)

    IMLP training weekend??

    Aug – IMLOU

    Goals

FTP – get to 190, get to know my PM a lot better

Vdot- current 41, get to 43 (was not able to budge this last year)

    Keep the weight under 130

Did first IM this year @ 13:03 in LOU, so clearly want to go under 13, but if I’m honest I would really like to go under 12. There I said it. It's on!!

  • Count me in, last race is October 30th.

Not sure what 2011 will be but gonna hope for kona 70.3 one more time (June 4, 2011) went to register this morning and then thought I better see how Taiwan 1/2 goes in two weeks. Am I beginner or Intermediate? Seems like I am not a "beginner" anymore, but looking at all the other RR, I probably am still a "beginner"

I know a few others doing that combo as well.  I just really like racing the pigman sprint and it doesn't go well with KS   I could still change my mind.

BTW, I'm originally from Ames.  Every now and then I ride when I visit.  Some nice, low-vehicle, flat routes around there!

  •  Welcome Daniela, and welcome to the Nov OS, it's gonna be loads of 'fun'.

    @William,

I just referred another one too, one of my local guys, Jeremy is in this season. Now we have 3 in the Cedar Rapids / Iowa CIty area at least, Iowa Sleeper cell is growing.

  • @Aimee hell yes! image

@Daniella glad you joined welcome awesome to have another Iowan. Great speaking to you the other day.

@Wiliam Iowans rock. We have You, Me, Trevor, Daniella, Carl "the road nurse" Nofstger, and Tom Scroggins (?) in the Nov OS.

There will be lots of good mojo in the Nov OS.

    • Pigman Sprint (6/5)
    • Door County half-iron? (7/17)
    • Ironman Wisconsin (9/11) – A race

After my 1/2 Mary yesterday, my OS goal is to dramatically improve my run. And, even after reading the coaches' advice, I still plan on hitting the weight room for some tri specific strength training.

    In 2011, I want to:
    Stick to a training schedule,
    Run more with my dog,
Get IM to add a Clydesdale division OR
    lose ~25lbs,
    Finish my first IM.
  • Whooda thunk it with all the IA peeps!

    Welcome Wes!

@Dan - you're going to have to explain that "Road Nurse" line! Looks like Scroggins is still a member...he's just on stealth mode I guess! :-)
  • he is assigned to the ambulance all the time, he is also a registered nurse hence road nurse.
I saw Scroggins at DM marathon this weekend he lead the 1:50 half pace group. He did pretty good ran a 1:50:20 so pretty good job pacing.

    Race schedule is currently:

    • Regents Park 10K road race Winter Series (11/7/2010, 12/5/2010, 1/2/2011, 2/6/2011 & 3/6/2011), C-Priority

Haven't set any OS targets yet. My FTP in 2010 was 263W but I'll be *way* below that currently.

Now, off to find out where to modify my signature...

  • Hey! Im new and in image Races this year are Triple T Ohio and Ironman Wisc...from Chicagoland area image

ALREADY have a quick "Im a pain in the arse" question....Im going to spectate down for Ironman Florida....first week of the OS plan! Anyone have a suggestion on what I should do? I hate to kill the start of the plan already image
  • I'm in for November! New member here. Ryan Coon from Nashville, TN (grew up and went to college in IOWA). Selected the ‘advanced off season’ plan after my performance at Austin 70.3 (went 4:51) and a recent half marathon (1:25).

    A Race - Rev3 Knoxville
    C Race - TTT
B Race - An undecided July half
A Race - IM Wisconsin (first full).

At the end of the off season I would love to set a PR in a spring half marathon and see my FTP over 300 (290ish currently).
  • @Lauren - I had the same question for the RnP. We'll be in San Diego the first week of November, so I'll be testing next week, then doing what I can while on vacation. Then, back to the OS with everyone else for week 2 on.
  • Martin Redmann      Sun Prairie, WI   46 (47 the day before Coach Rich turns 43)

Starting November 1 and running a marathon at the end of November. The OS plan takes precedence…the run is part of a vacation (SAUs deposit!).

    • May 1st Weight: 163
    • <1:25 Half<span class="apple-converted-space"> Marathon
    • IMWI Race Weight: 160   (11% body fat)

    • IMWI FTP: 300w
    • W/kg: 4.0 w/kg
    • Not let my job interfere with training!

  • @Lauren and Daniela - I wouldn't overworry week one. If you can swing it I would do the runs and don't stress over the bikes. It's a 20 week OS, and you'll have plenty of time to catch up.
  • @Bill - week 1 is testing. I'd rather do it before vacation then after.
  •  Shannon Castle
