This is my second day with EN, so my first OS. I am 38 years old and live in Lexington, KY. IM Louisville 2010 was my third triathlon, having done a sprint each in 2008 and 2009. I will be doing Louisville again in 2011 and hope to improve on my time.
2011 schedule
April 30- Louisville 1/2 marathon
May 22- Little Smokies Half
July 9- Muncie 70.3
August 27- IM Louisville
October 8- Rev3 70.3 SC or possibly Kona?
My OS goals are to improve my bike speed and train under a specific plan, which I have never done before. I have a long term goal of qualifying for Kona. If anyone out there is doing Louisville next year feel free to ask me any questions.
2011 Races ¦March - 30km Around the Bay, Hamilton Ontario Canada ¦April - Boston Marathon (my first) ¦June - Welland Ontario Canada Half Ironman ¦Aug - KTown Long Course Triathlon, Kingston, Ontario Canada ¦Sep - Muskoka Half Ironman, Huntsville, Ontario Canada
2011 Goals
¦Only second year racing half ironman triathlons (used to be a duatlete) so..... Become a more efficient swimmer Figure out my nutrition at my races (being cramping off the bike) Manage my races better (pacing)
Now that I've finally gotten my first official test in, I can officially join the group!
I'm Dominic Malleo, 38 years old, and this is my fourth attempt at a consistent outseason. Using the Intermediate plan. Just really quick about me, I've finished 4 IMs in the past 4 years. 2011 is going to be a forced break from IM and a focus on balancing life, training, and racing, significantly elevating my bike and run abilities. My race execution is very good, but my finish times hover in the 11:25-12:55 range. I won't go back to IM until I feel like I can finish significantly lower, e.g. sub-11 hours.
2011 A-Race: Eagleman 70.3 and likely a late summer half (Timberman, Poconos, or Syracuse)
My outseason goals: 1. Consistently finish the workouts each week and stay connected through the forum. This has been my greatest challenge! 2. Bike FTP north of 275W - I've been hovering at 230-240W for 2 years. Currently 225-ish after a fantastic 3 months of unstructured, fun riding. 3. vDot 44 - Push my pain threshold to get out of the 30's, and not be a lazy runner. Current vDot 36.7. Haven't run a step since June 2010.
2011 Goals: 1. 5:15 or better at Eagleman. 2. Better manage training and family life (married with 4 kids, long commute, and soon to add a puppy!) 3. Get faster, with hopeful return to IM in 2012. 3. IMLP Rally!
Well, it wasn't actually a goal to be the last one to sign in, but being its December ....
First OS, I'm in as of 11/1, working the intermediate plan in week 5. Live in Carmel Indiana, 47, married with one daughter. Started back into triathlons in 2009 after a 21 year break.
OS goal: To get better on the bike, while holding on to run fitness. Start OS VDOT 48, end VDOT 50. I have no idea of FTP as I'm training with HR.
2011 Races: Ironman Louisville, still have to fill in the rest of the schedule.
Not much of a "poster" (as post count will certainly confirm), but will work on that. Good to be part of this group, seems to be a lot of great experienced folks to learn from.
I have already started the outseason, but I'm late to sign in.
Michael Gasser
Vicenza, Italy (American) 26 years old and doing the Int Outseason
This is my first year with EN.
2011 Races:
Verona Half Marathon - I want to go under 1:25 for the first time. Assorted local sprints/olys to stay interested in early spring - A 1st OA in a local race would be super nice but they are mostly just for fun Austria 70.3 in May IM Switzerland in July Augusta 70.3 in late Sep (I grew up in Augusta and it would be fun to race in front of the home crowd. I also have about 10 friends who do it every year now.)
2011 Goals:
Goal Race Weight: 165ish (Current 176) Goal FTP: 250w Goal VDot: 57 Swim Goal: Significantly improve form and swim IM Swiss in 1:15ish (current 1500m is 30mins with miserable form)
I am also in the US Army and for my spring PT Test I want to run my 2 mile test in 10:59 or better. It will be right after I take a company command in an airborne unit and folks here love to see a good run time.
Michael - with a run time like that, you should be smokin' with this OS for your next PT test. I'm retired Army Airborne Ranger (Corps of Engineer for 23 years) and am proud to see another Army guy on the team!
I'm finally signing in - better late than never, right??
Sumner Smith, Asheville NC, F35-39, Intermediate OS, 1st year with EN
I started the OS Nov 15, so I'm currently in week 4 (ok, I re-started Nov. 15 - I originally started with the Oct. group, but I was overly ambitious when I thought I could start the OS and do recon for my last endurance MTB event at the same time, so instead I raced Swank 65 on Nov. 7, and started OS again the next week.)
2011 Races:
2/19 Myrtle Beach Half Marathon
4/2 6 Hours of Warrior Creek (MTB)
4/30 Xterra Ft. Yargo
5/8 Xterra Uwharrie
6/4 Xterra Tsali
6/19 Xterra East Championships (*A*)
9/25 Augusta 70.3 (*A*)
11/5-6 - Shut-In Ridge Trail Run and Swank 65
2011 Goals:
Qualify for Xterra World Championships (although it's probably not in the cards to actually go this year)
Swank 65 under 5:15 (although that might change depending on whether I do the Shut-In/Swank double)
Improve vdot - currently at 45, would like to improve to 47 during OS
Learn to hurt on the road bike - I think I'm close on the MTB, not so sure about the road bike. Although all of these OS workouts on the trainer seem to be fixing that problem.
Looking forward to more of the OS - am loving the "go hard, get it done" approach, instead of grinding out a whole lot of slow for the winter.
Comments
I think you need to go to Community/ Groups and join the November OS Group.
