What is the name of the music?? I love this song!! son was watching this you tube, thinking he will be a sports analyst one day.... but doesn't this sound like a Pain Cave, or run interval song?!! just love it...... so what is name?? help. m
Holy crap that picture with Santa took us less than 10 minutes!! No wait at all!! She was smiling ear to ear and sat there telling him about the wheelie shoes she wants for Christmas. Just precious!! Steve already got her the shoes!! We love being her parents!!
Linda, I bet if Cali got a duck, she'd bring it back to you. At least, that's what I used to see trained labs do in Virginia. Lots of people there use labs for duck hunting, and the hunters spend lots of time before hunting season working with the dogs. I used to see one hunter pretty regularly training his amazing dogs. They'd leap in the water and swim as fast as they could to catch the decoys their owner threw. They'd swim back and give the "ducks" back to their owner. Apparently, labs are really good at keeping their mouths soft, so they don't bite down on the ducks. Of course, this is assuming that the duck's been shot! Who knows what Cali would do if the duck was still alive and kicking!
Linda- The Cali pics are adorable, and that Video with the pink gloves is AWESOME!
Marianne- I don't know the name of the music, but that Eastern Carolina! Whooo Hoooo! Great music- sounds like something created for a movie 'cause there's no words to the vocals, just lots of oooooh and aaaaahs.
Cali is such an adorable dog. I haven't figured out the adding pictures yet. I bought my brother and his wife one of those Flip video camera's and husband forbid me from sending it because in his words, "that is much too nice for them." So I'm keeping it
So.....I didn't cave and get the treadmill. I did the math and with my insurance kickback, the health club was much cheaper over the long haul. I would have to go to the club for nearly 10 years to be at the same price as the treadmill.....might as well just go there and my daughter went with me. Unfortunately, I didn't really know how to work the treadmill and then when I got it going I realized that I should have done the math on converting yards to tenths of miles and then I should have converted MPH to minutes/mile ....so I did the math in my head during the 15 minute warm up. Wouldn't you know it....my daughter reached over at nearly 40 minutes and pushed a button that showed minutes/mile. Sigh.....Oh well, now I'll know for next time. Only downside is getting off the bike....bundling up.....driving over to health club (only about 5 blocks actually) and heading up the stairs to run. It'll be a long T2......When I got home I calculated and realized that my pace was much higher than my Z5 pace which was ok I guess.
The cabin sounds like a wonderful retreat! We head to Rockland, Maine on Christmas day for about 10 days. We can't wait. Just ordered husband's gift today....ordering daughter an IBike power thingy and getting other daughter some Sorel boots and some Ugg slippers. I always end up spending a fortune on the stocking stuffers.....
Only about 6 people in line!! The little babies are so cute!!!
The babies are cute. Were any of them traumatized? I was sitting in my front porch yesterday studying and a red station wagon went by with Santa Claus driving. It was pretty surreal. I wondered if I had somehow drifted in some indie film.....or an Ira Glass narrative....
I love the pix of Cali and YES those Chuck-It's are great! and the pink glove video is awesome. What a creative and talented woman she is! - I really admire that especially in people because I have just don't have a creative bone in my body. I love the lady that is throwing them up in the air and having them all come down on her like it's raining. Great stuff!
Gina - At the moment I would gladly send you this puppy!!!! Except my boys are so in love with her it would break their hearts - of course they are sound asleep and I was the one up walking her at 5 AM in the wind and 21 degrees! I have taken to giving her ice cubes to keep her entertained while I type. She can chomp on them and chase them around the tile floor as they slip and slide around. It working for me for now! I might not be so happy if I step on one and do the slip and slide around the tile floor though.
Can't wait to see the Santa pix on the FB Carrie. Those days are over for us .
So a quick question that I should probably post in the regular forum and will if one of you doesn't know the answer, but I am lazy and already here and typing so here goes. Last night I created three weeks worth of run workouts in Garmin TC and set them up on the calendar ready to be uploaded to my 405. Shut it all down and went to bed - this AM GONE!!! 2 hrs of work totally vaporized!!! Ugh. Occasionally it doesn't save workouts that I have already done either. Like I did a run Dec. 5 that is in WKO+ plus but missing from TC now. VERY AGGRAVATING to say the least. What step am I missing? I wish there was just a little "save" button.

I always end up spending a fortune on the stocking stuffers.....
Aint that the truth!!! Early on hubby and I decided not to give "big" gifts at Xmass. Instead we'd purchase some big ticket item the household needed (TV, Tivo, Video Camera, trip to New Zealand , etc) and just give each other a stocking. Works great and keeps stuff pretty easy, but I can easily spend $$$ on small expensive toys for his sports that are easily stuffed inside a stocking! So much for that plan!
Robin- I've never had that problem with Garmin TC. I've had trouble sometimes getting workouts to upload from the Garmin to my PC. But I don't think I've ever "lost" a workout I created in Garmin TC! That's weird and a little scary! Are you having trouble with your PC loosing data in any other apps?
No - no problems losing other data - or at least not that I am aware of and YES - SCARY! I suppose I could just download the program again, but then I would lose what I already have in there. Sigh - technology
I am up for just about anything on the diet/body comp thing as long as it isn't too much $$$. It took a little convincing to help DH see the benefit of the EN membership for me . A lot of it is just making the right decisions (like I should be eating carrots sticks and not PITA chips right now!), but I also would like to learn some of the ins and outs of why some things make me feel more satisfied than others and seem to provide better energy. Keeping a food diary does help too and last year I used The Daily Plate website and it was the easiest of it's kind to use, but still required logging in and remembering everything. I wish I could have an iphone - they are supposed to have some great Apps, but AT&T service stinks here. I do have Monique Ryan's book and probably should go back and read again. Most of all I should just eat LESS of what I eat .
Tracy - I would be interested in seeing the Carmichael plan too if you are willing to share with me too! robinpcline733@hotmail.com
Need Help from the Creative Chickas- I want to pick up something small for a friend who just finished all the requirements for her Masters in Nursing, tonight! Yes, I am a procrastinator it has been a long hall for Anna. She told me today she is the first in family to not only have bachelors, but masters too! she is going to be acute care nurse practitioner working with heart surgery patients at big hospital in DC . I am so proud of her. We knew each other back from Tucson days, worked in same ICU, both end up here in Baltimore . Anyway, there is a group going out tonight for Margaritas ( not been a good week on my diet/lifestyle change) One of my thoughts is a gift card for a spa treatment. Any other thoughts?
Great Cali pics! Pink Gloves. Cali pics had me looking through pics at Lab rescue of Potomac.... have to wait til after holidays
Nothing worse than technology issues, sorry to hear Robin. I have not programmed anything through GTC yet
Stocking stuffers, gifts, Oh, I am a terrible shopper. Creativity not one of my strengths
Ok, good appt with endocrinologist today, Thyroid getting back to normal ( as is my energy and motivation, no longer gaining wt- phew) Gonna make a minor tweak and see how I feel. My Vitamin D and Calcium slight low, need to add vitamin D. My iron level is good
My knee, brain, conscience and I are attempting a Mediation meeting today so they can better get along. At this moment, my knee feels good after resting last few days, stretching, icing,NSAID, my wonderful ART guy working on it ( the hamstring tendons ,Pes Anserine & semimembranousos tendons/bursa for Leigh & Carrie). My knee is really trying to be good, my brain on the other hand, now that thyroid is working wants knee to GO, GO, GO. Sigh.....My mind is very busy. The compromise, rest it 2 more days, but go to pool next 2 days for some aqua exercise/stretching. On sat, if knee says yes, then bike. If knee not sore after bike sat, then sunday, 1/2 run walk treadmill/1/2 pool, and hot yoga- With a huge prayer that this is last little hump my knee has to clear.. What are thoughts of WSM Chickas?. Please tell me that I am doing the right thing, and it will be better in the long run for lake placid ( even though my OS up til now has been inconsistent)I am soooooo close to being able to run consistently. Words of wisdom? Thanks for reading about my crazy mind
Tracy--your friend needs pampering. Spa treatment = perfect. Seriously, go with that and feel good about it. I would LOVE getting something like that! Don't think twice. It's a lovely idea.
OK, warning, lecture coming...
If you don't let that knee heal correctly, I'm putting on my Rich costume and going to your house to kick you in the nutz you don't have. DON'T BLOW IT NOW!!!!! Seriously, if you get only 80% there, it won't hold up to LP--never mind the day of the race. A partial injury will always slide backwards--and fast--on a training load. You really have NO choice since you're serious about LP as your 2010 goal. Get it better, whether it's two days or another week or more. LP isn't until July--plenty of time. Your first order of business is to heal that knee hard, right now. Stay the course, be strong, and err on the side of caution. You'll come out the other side super powerful if you do. Love, LP

tracy you and me both on being patient while healing and also feeling the energy return after thyroid getting normal!! you have my empathy!
okay so there is lots of costume jewelry out there, very nice and also real...I like a commemorative bracelet. Just a fun girlfriend gift but when she wears it, she remembers you. spa is nice too don't get me wrong!
just in from pool and another shopping to Walmart... I learned how to sight and breathe at same time instead of doing my turtle head up and sight and then also alternate breathe. so now when I take right breath as I turn my head back into water I take a sneak peak. she had me doing drills of head up swimming down and then sighting on way back and I think I was sinking or drowning out there! then I used paddles correctly and then took them off to mimic that, and tried not to go wide either and we talked about my high DPS and what it needs to be and my kick is too much too.... anyway three people with two coaches and she is a talented triathlete herself so just a jewel for me and I told them to harrass me cuz I don't mind and in fact love having the feedback. so much to think about..... okay so I wore goggles, loosened them and even put vaseline under my eyes so as not have eye socket marks and sure enough it looks like I have been beat up...
so I walk into Walmart, fortunately not where i live! with soaking wet hair, no makeup except for now smeared (from vaseline!) mascara and a bit of eyeshadow, and dark rings under my eyes, I found several people staring at me! and my face sorta hurt too! but I knocked out groceries, grocery shopping and afew toys to include adorable BARBIE on a BIKE for $10 you know I had to have her and when I make her a little EN outfit, I will take a pic!!! yes,yes it is for Grace! anyway really knocked it out but didn't get broken fingernail fixed, ah well, heading out tonight and I doubt they will notice as they will be staring at the beat up swim goggle eyes!!! oh and one more funny, well it has Been Colorado dry down here so I put some lotion on right? and the pull buoy kept slipping and popping out!!! she wants me to kick with it, so I can learn to keep my legs together and only make a little kick... well the darn orange thing kept popping out, so no lotion next time, dry skin works best and last funny? well I washed the swimsuit, by accident but wrapped up in towel.. and it black and sure enough right across my butt is a white detergent mark!! had to cover up with towel until getting in water. I mean really, black.... I tell you I get the laughs when I swim but then I do get serious as determined to make each workout count for something!! by Next September I hope to be sighting more efficiently, drafting off some people and using my upper body more so that i can be faster out of the water and have legs for the bike and swim!! with that said, I need DPS of less than 23!! that is with no pushoff or flipturn but you can see that I am taking way too many strokes!! horrible....she says I am using my kick way too much, true. next week they are gonna rubber band my ankles together and joked they have other torture devices for me. and the prednizone is working !! wow to be pain free amazing how fatigueing that was! just one day I feel loose in the hips! you know what they say "loose lips sink ships" !! This was a perfect day for running but I resisted (Tracy) and others recovering..... patience is a virtue and running is a gift! okay gotta scoot and drink some hot tea so I can stay up late at dinner. smile. m

Werd!!!!!!
Thanks LP and Nemo!!!!
Just what I needed to hear today! I actually just submitted a request to change plan and restart OS in January. I really think that will be best in long run, another few weeks of ART, massage, stretching, icing, aqua running will serve me better come July.
M-really liked that! Thanks I did resist the run, I was so tempted to run back to hospital on a chilly windy day to pick up new script rather than drive. Will check out a store with bracelets on way to pick up prescription before going to spa before margarita
Sounds like you are doing all that right things with swimming. Glad prednisone is working. Smilled and chuckled with mascara/buoy. can't wait to see EN barbie on a bike

Neat app for the Iphone called Shazam- you can play music, hold up the phone and it will try to identify the tune. Found this one but like the strictly instrumental version used on the You Tube clip much better. It's called Indrodcution (Feat.Starcrimes,A-million) by Prince Negaafellaga- album is Birth of a King. It's hip hop, so be warned I don't find all the lyrics suitable for younger crowds based on the clip from Itunes. Too bad!!
Tons of stuff I need to be doing but just brain dead after FULL day at work. With economic tough times we are all doing more and with added stress to perform, the holidays and vacations, it's exhausting. Everyone on edge = no fun! Still recooping from race but may attempt a run, swim or bike this weekend. The fact that it's in the low 20's and windy is definitely a help in resisting working out too soon
Taking off tomorrow and trying to knock out the Christmas shopping. If you get Triathlon magazine, check out the article on Chrissy Wellington. I must say, from everything I've read and seeing her in person @ Kansas, she is one Class act! Talented, hard working, humble and a contagious smilen which she truly wearing racing. How cool that she "chicked" so many of the pro men @ Kona.... 23rd OVERALL. WOW!
Kris....I LOVE Chrissie Wellington. I'm so glad that she is my daughter's hero....not some skanky teeny bopper......I named my new bike Welli after her....
okay girls, I wish y'all were here last night!!! okay so I have this dinner to go to and had new red top remember!! and put it on, with silver earrings and new black pants and about 15' before departure, notice that the shopping plastic button is still on the top!!!! I could see the funny side of it actually as all my best plans for the outfit went away cuz it was right at my left hip... so hubby comes back to get ready and I say "we have a problem"!! so couldn't get it off, natch so changed into "old" black top with black pants!! Today I have to go back to store, and yes I did buy it, and get the thingie off it!! Also I was able to spackle over my goggle rims under my eyes. Had a nice dinner and did NOT overeat! got a nice $$ filet with vegetables.... another dinner tonight and will check for plastic buttons on that outfit!!
still not running and I think come Monday it will be about 3 weeks so I probably need to look at starting over in january too....good idea Tracy and even Robin I think moved over too.. maybe can't remember.
well shoot on the music I want the intrumental and not the lyrics then! but cool on app. I still have an "ancient" phone according to kids but it is small and fits in my "key pocket" but kids, friends and DH have IPhone and therefore apps. my phone is beat up, cracked and coming apart and like I said very small and lightweight which is why I got it. I don't have an active phone life anyways! and my texts are inellible due to small keypad!!
Barbie, yes I think she swims too!! and have seen her in running outfit.
speaking of that Team Estrogen has some $9.99 deals that came in my email.... jersey by Descente and bliss Shorts that look nice and in my size.. told DH and also a swimsuit in size 38 if you need that. My swimsuits can now be pulled over my shoulders! so I think had their days.... Swimoutlet. and I need gloves, lobster ones are still MIA and it is freezing out there and bondibana headbands are also on my wish list! gotta scoot. kids to school. m
Leigh- This 1/2 mary weekend isn't?- will send 1:45 thoughts your way ( I believe that is your goal? have a fun weekend!
M-Oh no on the shirt with the tag thingy!
I feel good about decison to do jan OS, I will still have time before LP. Now not stressing about missed workouts and can restart build slowly- Think about it!
Ok- feel bad that injuries are the reason several folks have had to push back to Jan OS but.. YAH!!!! So happy to have more EN chickas in the Jan OS with Nemo, Michele, & me!!! Linda- perhaps you should leave the dark side and we can plot a chick takeover of Jan OS???
I've done a Oct, Nov start and felt very good about starting in Jan this year. After 2 yrs of IMLOU (late Aug IM), Oct was just too soon and needed some more "fun" fitness time. I enjoyed not only the changeup in training but the change up in working out with some different groups. Also great to borrow some mojo as most triathletes around this neck of the woods lay low after Sept. While I agree with the RnP logic on not using a marathon to train for IM, personally I have no issue in the NON season (not In or Out season) with throwing in a marathon. May not work for all folks but coming from a former life as a runner, I know the drills. I also have had my brain reconnected with my body and am ditching the idea of another mary before off season. I have run 3 marathons in the past 4 months (Imlou, Bourbon Chase relay and St Judes) so it's time to exit while my body is still in good shape. Have to swallow that pride (gulp.....) and focus on long term goals- which isn't marathoning. Gonna look and incorporating more trail running in the off season and make friends with my bike again. Our Masters swim starts up (1day/wk) in Jan so I'll be into that too. Until then.,. whatever the mood strikes.... may even take or teach a few classes in Dec.
Off work today and procrastinating right now instead of working on shopping plan of attack and finishing up shopping. I know it's good to buy local but online shopping is JUST my speed!! Got some super deals on DVD's on amazon! Happy weekend gals!
Tracy: That's the right thing to do. I'm still slowly crawling back to some running normalcy. I was close at the start of Nov OS, having built up to 50 minutes of running at E-pace. Then the first week of OS, I thought I'd try out an interval--just 30 sec/mile slower than last year's tempo pace--to see how I should pace for my Vdot test. Bam! I had knee pain again. I just wanted to sob in frustration. It's still not completely gone, so the intervals are being run in the pool. For IM running, I think there's only one kind of recovery: 100% recovery. No fitness to be gained unless we can run--I mean really run. Until then, we can do our best to maintain what run fitness we have with the pool running and become absolute MONSTERS on the bike. Oh yeah, and perhaps learn to swim too.
Marianne: You have the best shopping stories. I've not stepped into a mall in 3 years. Now if they put a bike shop or triathlon store in it, I just might! Thank goodness for Internet shopping or I'd have to steal presents like the Grinch. And Bonaire? It's the B of the ABC islands of the Netherlands Antilles (Antigua, Bonaire, Curacao). They're off the coast of Venezuela. I've heard the beaches there are gorgeous. And because they're Dutch, you can apparently get huge wheels of Gouda cheese there for cheap. So when are we going? I'm thinking a post-IMMoo vacation for all EN chickas...
Linda: Love the Cali pics! She's getting to be a big doggie. I'm quite sure that if she caught a duck she would bring it back to you alive. Labs are bred to have a "soft mouth" ---not puncture the water fowl they've been bred to retrieve. Which is interesting because when they start on their chewing frenzy there's nothing soft about it. Scooby once destroyed a paperback copy of "Old Man and the Sea". The DH was furious, but I agreed with the dog in his assessment that Hemingway is not the Great American Novelist.

To all you Lab mommas- can totally empathize... in her day Anna chewed my daughter's footboard on the bed, gnawed on the corner of the base molding between the living and dining rooms and was a voracious mole hunter.. sorry moles- no "soft" mouth there but great digging mentality. She looked so cute with dirt on the end of her little nose it made it hard to stay mad!
Kris- I'm with you! So happy (in a very selfish way) to see lots of cool EN Chickas will be joining us in Jan. I felt originally like I was gonna be missing the boat by waiting, but I'm so releived with that decision now! Once again, doing what R&P advised payed off for me.
Marianne- oh my, I chuckled so hard when I read your post! All that work and energy to find the perfect top, only to have the dreaded security tag still on it come party night!!! Tooooo funny!
Beth- I received my paper doll this morning and could NOT stop cracking up! Joe thought I'd lost it! I can't wait to print it out and cut it up. I gotta find some thick paper so it will stand up right. LMAO!!!! Oh my, if Rich only knew! HA!
Nemo - Thanks, Nemo! We *could* send a copy to Rich. Or, he can have one if he starts paying attention to the chicka mojo forum. ;-)
Update in the Lindor truffle battle: I discovered a secret weapon -- sugar free hot chocolate packets in the work pantry. I don't know what is in the stuff besides cocoa and splenda, but it is almost no calories.
I have run my idea of Jan OS by my GF Heather also with EN, doesn't post too much but as y'all know we do a lot of training together.... so wouldn't want to change without her knowledge..., I have pondered and feel good about it though. I have three weeks left in December where maybe I could get to a place where Jan would be good. plus I have really been cleaning out closets and cleaning dust bunnies in son's bedrooms! in this down time and shopping for sho'. About to wrap today so the little kiddos don't snoop. well you know they snoop.. but have to go out to store first. but been cleaning this morning. one more week and then all are home for the holidays. okay nothing funny to tell you... AND no training either so where does that leave me????

Okay, Okay, I forwarded Richlando Bloom to R. Now, he will know what he's supposed to wear to IMWI. - b

Have a great day everyone!
Love, LP
Werd!!!!!!
tracy you and me both on being patient while healing and also feeling the energy return after thyroid getting normal!! you have my empathy!
okay so there is lots of costume jewelry out there, very nice and also real...I like a commemorative bracelet.
This was a perfect day for running but I resisted (Tracy) and others recovering..... patience is a virtue and running is a gift! okay gotta scoot and drink some hot tea so I can stay up late at dinner. smile. m
Thanks LP and Nemo!!!!
Just what I needed to hear today! I actually just submitted a request to change plan and restart OS in January. I really think that will be best in long run, another few weeks of ART, massage, stretching, icing, aqua running will serve me better come July.
Time for a celebratory margarita ( just 1 )
patience is a virtue and running is a gift
WOW!
okay girls, I wish y'all were here last night!!! okay so I have this dinner to go to and had new red top remember!! and put it on, with silver earrings and new black pants and about 15' before departure, notice that the shopping plastic button is still on the top!!!!
Gotta go,
Ok- feel bad that injuries are the reason several folks have had to push back to Jan OS but..
AND no training either so where does that leave me????
hmmm

Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you're right. (what gets me to an IM finish line!)
Okay, Okay, I forwarded Richlando Bloom to R. Now, he will know what he's supposed to wear to IMWI. - b
Now it is all in perspective Check out this little video Susanna made. Just click on the screen when you go to the link. Hope it makes you guys laugh!!

Hee-larious, Gina.
LMAO!!!! OMG, where are those really great smilies we had for water spewing out your nose and peeing your pants when you need them. That's the best laugh I've had in a long time! I love your boobs!
