  • okay girls Rudy had to have his paw reopened and anesthesia I pick him up in 2 hours. I felt sick with worry, and couldn't even think but he wasn't himself today and like a kid you just know something is up. He is just like a kid too and buried his head in my legs so the vet couldn't actually see him, figuring if he couldn't see her she couldn't see him, then he laid down and refused to get up... 47 pounds now... he looked at me with those big brown eyes and I knew he needed pro help so let him go back there and I could hear him crying so she suggested anesthesia!! == $$$$$ and this with the mammogram, makes this a $$$$$ week!
  • Hi Ladies!  I have been trying to find some time to read and catch up, as I have had limited time to surf the forums and respond.  I hope I don't leave anyone out.

Robin: So sorry to hear you have to have surgery!  My thoughts are with you for a speedy recovery!

Olivia: The dental work, oh my!  My thoughts are with you too!!!

Marianne: Sorry to hear about all the $$$$ you have to dish out, and about poor Rudy!  I have 2 cats and they are my babies.  I know how worried  we can be, but it stinks that procedures cost so much!!!

Linda, I think it was you who is having foot probs.?  If not, sorry I don't remember, but anyways, I hope all gets better soon!

I am in my 2nd week of transition.  And I didn't take much of a rest the first week.  I'm doing better this week.  However, still having hip/lower back issues.  I have a doc. appt. but not until April 9th!  I have been trying to run my pace and increase my VDOT.  However, if anything, I'm running a wee bit slower than I was during the midst of OS!    Don't know what's up with that.

Trying again this weekend, with a 5K.  I'm not holding my breath.  But, plan to take it easy the first mile, then add some strides and rock it the second 2.1.  We'll see!     Right now, I'm applying for Administrator positions at local schools, as I'm not moving.  Not having any luck as of yet, even getting interviews!  They want experience, but how do you get it if you haven't  yet worked as an admin.?  Keeping my hopes up and fingers crossed!  I do believe there is a reason for everything.

I'm right with you girls about the weight loss thing.  I finally lost a couple more lbs. but that is all.  It is so hard!!  I had given up diet pop for about 8 months.  Then I got cravings, so I cheat once in awhile, but not regularly.

Just wondering if any of you are coming down to Louisville to Sherpa?  There are only 2 or 3 of us in EN doing the race, atleast from the sign ups in groups.

Hope everyone had a good day, and/or has a better one tomorrow!!!

  • Barb and Ladies re the diet thing....I am so depressed I could just, well I don't even know.

As I told you,  I have been logging everything into Fit Day. Everyone told me I wasn't eating enough, so I increased the calories. Promptly put on ANOTHER 2 LBS in four days!!!! Not coming off either. So eating 1200-1400/cal a day with workouts kept the status quo with no loss. Upping the intake to ~1800 with workouts, resulted in a 2 pound gain. I have not weighed this much since college. Maybe I need to wait until the thyroid meds kick in, but I think my metabolism is currently close to zilch. I also feel like a water balloon since taking the meds, but that's not usually a side-effect. I just do not  know what's going on.

Penny asked me to be part of a project, and I'm talking to her honors student on Thursday. They a re reviewing my diet, so maybe they can help. I am at my wits end. I just want to be back where I was for years and years. It stinks. I just don't know what more to do. I don't think I can eat less than 1200-1400 and still function in training. Ugh.

  • Linda- I've been watching the news about the rain and rivers in the NE= just amazing!

Marianne, oh poor Rudy!!! I hope he's going to be OK. Please keep us posted!

OK- I have a crown prep scheduled for Thurs (yes, dentist apt on April Fools day, call me crazy) and today I received the friendly "it's time for your Mamogram" letter. Meanwhile I have my annual GYN visit schedule in April as well. April is going to be a big $$$ medical month!

On the bright side, I did my 30/30 workout today and for the first time I followed it up with the brick run (just 10 minutes). I felt pretty good and I'm getting more and more encouraged that I might just be able to run at IMoo after all. Tomorrow I'll do another 2x20 run set. Wish me luck!

Barb-  I live outside of Lou- live and work right off the bike course, so I'll be here!  Realized the other day that I'll just be starting taper when race day hits here in LOU.  Talk about inspiration!!  Think I'll volunteer to work the finish line!!

  • Linda - are you coming to Houston to talk to Penny's students, or doing it via computer? I would hate to miss your visit if you are coming to town!

I wish! I'm working with one honors student on the phone. I'm the "nutrition subject." I have every confidence they can help me figure things out.

  • Barb- you can't ask for a better Sherpa than Kris!
