  • +4 - but I can't make it until 2011
  • Let's go next week.

  • 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  •  Ima 6......I might have some lodging resources in Copper.  I have a friend who lives there.  We are going out to stay with them in March and ski....

  • HA! You ladies rock!! Six of us would work at our Breckenridge place (2 BR, 2 BA, +pull out) if we went two to a bed or one per bed and two in sleeping bags. I can bag it on the floor with no issue! image More than that will mean supplemental lodging for sure. One of my friends barely ever uses his place which is way nicer than mine. And it's not too far away. He might be a source of a second place. We're all set with bike maintenance and cleaning tools, as well as ski maintenance materials etc. so as to support either winter and summer chicka rendezvouz. image Let the collective wheels continue to turn!

Hopefully by the time you get here in March, Sheryl, the Feb and March snow dumps will make for good skiing conditions. Right now it's not so great...but that's not atypical for January. March is generally the best for snowfall!! One of the worst things I ever did was schedule a vacation to the UK in March. We missed 2 great powder weeks in CO! Brian firmly stated, no more vacations in March. I totally got it! Not much downhill action for me this year, though...maybe a bit during my transition week coming up here, but generally I'm keeping the focus on IMSG. XC skiing is on though....I like that for an easy, non-frantic outing.

Oh yeah, and I miss the old emoticons too!! It's the little things, I tell you.

Anabelle is coming soon, right, Gina!?!? Can't wait to see pics!
  •  So funny we aren't even through IMWI chica camp and we are already looking ahead.  I can bring an air mattress.  We ended up with about 3000 queen size mattresses for the graduation party last year.  I'm in man....and Kathy...you are coming with me!!!!  Maybe Archie will pull the plug and have bought the motorhome by then...

  • +7 - if I can get an excused absence from the family that is! Love, love, love CO.

I am so TOTALLY behind on this thread - have hardly had time to breath since Monday, but the I almost have the end of the year tax stuff wrapped up - so worth it image.

Olivia - sounds like you are getting great advice

Gina - so excited for you about Annabelle! Esther is really getting much easier now and it really didn't take THAT long image. I'll be taking her in for her final set of puppy shots next week. Man, that went fast!

Looks like I will get to be in Boston during the Expo!!! Can't wait to meet Linda and Michele - anybody else in that area??? Only bad thing is I have to get up at some ridiculous hour - like 3 AM - to make a 6:00 AM flight from Louisville the day I travel up there. Maybe I should just plan not to go to bed. I never sleep well before a wake up call like that thinking I will oversleep.

    Have a great weekend all!
  • Wow! Travel plans are brewing...Count me in for any trip to CO. Colleen Doody is the real mtb gal amongst us EN chickas---maybe we could convince her to go too.

Olivia: Good decision to delay the operation. It takes alot of energy (physical and mental) to recover from one and your TSS is just going to go up, up, up from here.

I'm in Lake Placid this weekend doing a belated Christmas with my DH's family. It's interesting to see them press his buttons. We went for a one hour run today---just to get him away from them. The weather is utterly beautiful here: blue, blue skies, snow on the mountains. We had snow angels Mirror Lake this morning---it's frozen and there's skating and dog sleds on it. In a mere 5 months, some of us will be swiming here for IMLP. Amazing!

    Have a wonderful weekend, gals!

     but I can't make it until 2011

Oh- I was hoping we were talking 2011!  Yeah, planning WAAAAY far ahead, but with TOC, Cowgirl Camp, and IMWI, I'm all outa vacay time in 2010.  Besides, if I abandoned Joe twice in one year for an all-girls/EN/tri-geek weekend he would certainly change the locks before I got back!

  •  Yay Robin! Can't wait to meet you in person! It is a lot of fun to head out to the bar and hang out AFTER the expo.

Gorgeous day here in NE, but colder than you would think for 32 degrees.

I finally got my act together and booked the hotel for IMWI. Residence Inn with Nemo and others. I wanted the fridge, doubt I will cook much, but cold drinks - definitely! Also signed up for Tri Bike Transport to get the bike there. Looked at shipbike.com and seriously considering that for getting the bike to Cowgirl camp. It doesn't require as much bike break down as other boxes. I am not that good with tools. Check it out if you are as mechanically impaired as I am.

I am going through another round of saddles. Robin was kind enough to send hers out, but they didn't work for me. I have ordered a Cobb V-flow Max and the bike shop has ordered an Adamo Typhoon and an SMP Lady Glider. Hoping to find a new saddle for my QR and my new Pinarello Road Bike. I don't want to post the pic of my new ride until I get it set.

So ladies- I had a crappy week at work. Without going into detail, I had to talk to Risk Management. The anxiety of just waiting for them to call nearly killed me. But just as I began to get teary, that lady made me laugh. She was so sweet and good to me. The drama isn't over, but her one act of kindness meant so much when I was feeling so very low. Never doubt that your actions can touch someone deeply, even if you are "just doing your job".

Got a pedicure and did errands today. Putting together care packages for Haiti. Peace to all you wonderful and strong women.

  • A new Pinarello????? Hold the fort, I missed a memo somewhere. That's major news!!!! Ooooooo, I can't wait for the pics!
  • Robin!!! You're coming to Boston???? How did I miss that! Any time, any where, I'm there. There's usually an EN gathering. Oh how exciting!

Bear with me ladies-- I am neck deep in taxes too, working like a mad woman, and need time away from the computer. I'll be reading, but might be a bit absent for a week or so. Need time off the grid. Love you all!

  • Don't worry - I don't think you "missed" it so much as I didn't publicize it very much image. I wanted to be sure it was for sure before I said much. I still have to buy the ticket, but I have all the family blessings - including my Mom being willing to keep the kids overnight and shuttle to and from school Friday and Monday for me and I was able to get someone to cover work for me. The long and short of it is that I have a childhood friend (we were the very best friends from grade school through high school) that went to BU and never came back. We lost touch, but have re-connected and have been talking about a visit. It made more sense for me to go there for a lot of reasons I won't go into. I am REALLY looking forward to it! She lives in Roslindale. Anyway, more on all of that later.

    Taxes = no fun image
  • Ooh! Ooh! A new Pinarello! I love how in this haus new bikes are like new babies -- please lots of pics so we can coo.

Oh, saddles. I think it is time to break up with my Adamo. It can't be normal that every time I leave it for a few weeks, it has to rebreak in my butt.

Linda -- good luck in tax land.

I'm so in for Colorado camp.

Olivia -- so smart. Glad the collective hive mind could help.

This week - lame. I might bag intervals tomorrow in favor of a good, long head-clearing run.

  • Morning Ladies!!

I had a long day @ work yesterday!! 9 hours for ONE case (Tracy you know about those). That's what I get for helping someone out with their call!! Well, made a little $$$$, that is the up side!!

It is POURING rain here this morning and I need to do my long run. Last Sunday it was raining too!! Looks like two Sundays in a row I am going to have to hit the gym. Booooo. All the January "gonna get in shape" people are covering the place UP right now!

So, WHO is getting a Pinarello???

Beth- I had questions about setting up Bootcamp after VM Fusion, but got it figured out. Thanks.

Olivia- I agree with the girls, do IMSG and then worry about the surgery

Linda- Hang in their with the taxes. I can't imagine doing self employed stuff!

I am off to enjoy my Sunday. 5 days until we go get little Anabelle or is it going to be Zoe??? ( We are having a hiccup in the naming)

  • what Zoe??? I have been saying Annabelle to myself and counting down too!! lol. sorry you had such a long day Gina and now that it is raining!! I see sun out my door but slept for 10.5 hours!! that really cuts into my morning but I just laid there and laid there!
  • Gina -- I had to giggle at your post"... 9 hours for ONE case..." Um, yeah, that was me!! 9.5 actually. I figured that as an iron girl surgery had to go long. We do everything LONG right?? I'm amazed that you all who are doing the work can get through something of that duration. Seriously. I asked my surgeon before we went it, what his nutrition and hydration plan was to ensure that he'd be able to go the distance. Thank you for the work you do...all of you in the care giving fields!!

Re: dog names, Zoe is quicker and easier to say in a pinch. I do love Anabelle though. Probably not too many of those running around on 4 legs!

Michele - the saddle saga is one that I'm avoiding. Love my road bike saddles; don't love my tri bike saddle. I just don't want to start! Let me know what you think of the ones you're trying.

Gonna be a chilly run today...we may not see 40 degrees! Gotta bundle up!
  • Olivia-

I NEVER mind caring for someone like you for a lengthy procedure. My case yesterday was on someone whose health behaviors got him into the operating room for the umpteenth time !!  MAJOR vascular procedure to try and save his leg. All well and good, except he CONTINUES to smoke heavily, NOT take his medications as instructed, and then present to the health care system to save his ass. VERY frustrating!!

Still pouring rain here, guess I will head for the 'mill....

  • Hi Ladies! Haven't dropped into this forum for awhile, so thought I would. I'm glad I did. I have been procrastinating my bike workout, that I swapped yesterday for today's run. I have no mojo today. Sore hips and piriformis and no desire to get up and go. But, after reading everyone else's long days, I really have no excuse! Good luck with taxes Linda! Gina, that sounds so frustrating! There are far too many people out there like that. It amazes me!
And as for bike saddles, I hate mine! I got a new 2009 Specialized Tri Comp and love it, but the saddle has to go! I'm getting 'blisters' in spots that should never know what a blister is!!!! It's the saddle that came with the bike. My bike is black and yellow, so is named Queen B. (Get it, Barb, black/yellow bike/Queen B? ) I know, I"m lame, but hey, whatcha gonna do? I am one fried Special Ed. teacher who needs a vacation!!!!!!
I'm thinking about not doing Muncie Endurathon, and coming instead, to the IM Midwest Camp! Going to try to convice my training partner, see if she wants to come too.
  • Hee hee.... I am getting a Pinarello.  I was planning to buy it myself, but had to talk to Max about it as he bought me a road bike for my b-day just 3 1/2 years ago (a LeMond). Initially I had  much less neck pain than on my old Cannondale, but we have learned a whole lot more about bike fit in the interim. To that end, I didn't want to offend him, but the thing is still too big. Being the guy he is, he decided he would buy the new bike for me as my Channukah/ Holiday gift. It has not been a smooth process as I wanted to wait until spring and do all of the research myself, but he is a bike geek gearhead and couldn't wait. But I did make certain that the gearing would match my Tri bike so that I could swap the PT wheel if I want. I had a few pics of the unfinished setup, but deleted them as we are very close and she is BEAUTIFUL! I won't give anything away, but I am thinking her name is Princess . Which is funny as my car is Darth Vader  and I have never settled on a name for my QR Caliente, which is also totally black. I kind of like Garth, but always crack up about that name when the bike looks so serious and all I am thinking about is Wayne's World. Although "I'm not worthy" is a great motto.

I will definitely let you all know what I settle on for saddles on the bikes. My problems are all "frontal", squishing all of that soft stuff. And yeah Barb- I 've had those blisters. Cut out saddles have helped tremendously.

It was gorgeous while I was out running. Same temp as yesterday, not as sunny, but felt warmer. I was actually able to get in some HMP after completing all of the TP. A rarity for me. I am usually to whooped to do anything more than LRP home.

Appointment for taxes is Thursday. I like to get it over with early. Good luck to all you self-employed folks.

  •  @Barbara- that would be awesome if you did Midwest Camp!  You know that's when we're planning our EN Cowgirl camp- so while the boyz will be around, we are planning to setup some "girls only" stuff.  You should totally join us!

@Michele- I am so jealous!  My hubby doesn't understand the need for new bikes.  I'm still trying to explain why my 2002 QR was ready to be replaced.

@Beth- What color is your Adamo (and which model is it)?  I might be interested in taking it off your hands.  I'd like to put an Adamo on my road bike (love it on the TT and after borrowing Kris's bike last summer I know I want it on my road bike too).  But, it's gotta be the right color of course!

@Gina- I used to like the name Zoe for a dog, but it's become so common lately.  I really like Anabelle!

@Linda- This is the last year we'll use our Tax guy to do our taxes.  We started using him when we invested in the rental property- and now that we live in that house (and sold the old house) we won't need his services any longer.  I really got spoiled having his service- but it was the best $$ we spent!

It was a BEAUTIFUL day here.  60 degrees and sunny- just SCREAMING for someone to ride a bike or run.  But I've been very good.  I'm biting nails right now- but I'm not running or biking.

  • Following the saddle discussion with much interest! I have a Terry Butterfly on my road bike and LOVE it. I bought the tri version for my tri bike and while much better than the devil-worshiping Fisik it came with, it ain't perfect. My problems are also frontal - I love how everyone talk about the "sit bones" when of course I would look very odd sitting on the bone and tissue that is really the problem. @Beth, I don't care about the color so if Nemo rejects your Adamo I'd be willing to talk!
  • It's an incredibly beautiful day here!  It was 55 degrees and sunny this morning for my 1:15 run, which felt amazing.  Then, it's T's birthday today and she had requested a picnic, and it was 65 by lunchtime, with a deep blue sky.  I'm going to be so depressed when it gets cold again.

Ladies, when is your IMOO camp?  I would love to go if I can get the time off.

New bicycles are so exciting.  Pictures, please!

  •

I wanted to love the Adamo because it was the best by far on the "frontal" area, but my sit bones just never could adjust. I tried for months and i just stayed bruised all the time. Mine is the race saddle and it's yellow - if any of you gals want to give it a try all it will cost you is the shipping and you can keep it as long as you need to make the decision. That way even if you want to own a different color you can be sure it's the right saddle for you before you buy. I think it would actually work better on a tri bike than road bike and I ride a road bike w/ aero bars. I also have a Bontrager w/ cutout and Profile Design TriStryke that I really love sitting on but its just to smushy around the cut out. I feel like Baby Bear when it comes to bike saddles - too hard, too soft, too big, too small...............

I'll weigh in on the puppy name from the trainers perspective. It you are pronouncing Zoe so that it rhyms with NO I wouldn't go there, but if you are pronouncing it w/ the E on the end I'd say your safe. I tend toward short easy names, but think Annabelle is very cute  and WOW 9 hrs??? I can't even imagine. We are having torrential rain today too. At least it's not snow!

All the tax stuff that goes with having a small business it a total PITA! Not just the end of the year stuff either. Ugh.... Meeting the accountant Tuesday to wrap up 2009 though so it will be behind me soon.

  • Kristen- MOO camp is July 8-11

Saddles- We have an assortment here that Su purchased and was never happy with. I will gladly send them to anyone interested.

Rain, rain, rain. That is what it has done ALL day. I went and did my long run at the gym. FInally, finally had a good run.

I hear the feedback about the puppy name. We will most likely stick with Anabelle!!

  •  Yah for Annabelle - Zoe is cute but Annabelle is a good southern pup's name!  Gina- you must be sooooo excited

Barb-  Think I may have already replied abt Muncie/Lou on another forum so plse forgive if repeating myself.... not only would IMMOO camp be more fun, think you would find it much more condusive to where you will be in your training cycle at that time of year.  Little about the Muncie course is like the IMLOU course.  Kansas, on the other hand, is much better timing (further out from IMLOU day) and bike course has much in common with the style of ours.  You are always welcome here in KY for a weekend as well.  Be glad to show off the course to you- it's beautiful!

Linda- broke down and bought Turbo tax today.  My first year with a side self-employ biz deal so not looking forward to figuring all that out (and my background in accounting).  As Charlie Brown would say....aaaaauuuuuuggggghhhhh!

Saddles- I totally heart my Adamo racing saddles (red- same on both road & tri).  Saddles are a highly personal thing (like tri shorts) and the Adamo is usually a love, love thing or a omg this is awful thing.  Not much in between for most folks.  This will be my third season using the saddle.

Rain here as well today but had signed up to teach 2 hr spin this morning at new tri shop in town.  Class was a 7am and I am SOOOO not used to getting up that early and riding anymore.  Was super to be done by 9am and nice to meet some new folks.  Hilly long run yesterday so I am getting ready to do some yoga and roll out those poor ole hammies.  I'm taking a liberal approach to Jan OS- which is why haven't posted much in that forum.  Just switching things around to better suit and want to maintain my run base that I worked so hard Oct-Dec for.  Was talking the other day with a gal who is new to tri's and signed up for IMLOU this year.  She is following a well known coaches book plan for a HIM in May.  That plan calls for a 3+ hr long run (for a half iron, mind you) and she's already doing 2 hr spin sessions.  Wears me out just hearing abt it!

  • Robin- EXCELLENT point about the name !! The EN Chica's have weighed in- Anabelle it will be. 5 days and counting. Indie's world is going to turned U-P-S-I-D-E down.

Kris- I am 100% with you on the Jan OS. Basically, I am running. I bike when I feel like it.

Kristen- Forgot to say, COME to IMMOO Camp!!

I have been baking bread like a fiend since I got our breadmachine. It is so wonderful to know exactly what is going into our food and the smell of the baking bread..... Today, I also whipped up some whole wheat waffles to stick in the freezer as Su likes them for breakfast.

One more thing regarding saddles, LOVE the Blackwell Flow. I have ridden this saddle since its inception as the "Terry Cutdown" by John Cobb.

    Off to cook fajitas!!!

  • Gina: Can't wait to see Annabelle pics! 9 hours for a vascular case? We used to call those cases "Fem-Cleveland" bypasses.

Barb & Kristen: Come to the IMMoo Chicka camp! It's the same weekend as the EN Midwest Rally---so the boyz and Coach Rich will be there too.

Michele:  Sorry about your horrible work day...it's never fun to talk to Risk Management. I've been through the ringer in that department---PM me if you want to vent/have questions/bash medical liabilty.  But on to much better news for you...Pinarello?!! Which one?! This is very exciting...

Yep, taxes SUCK. I'm hoping to get mine done before I leave for Argentina in 3 weeks. I'm back from Lake Placid and managed to the keep my DH from strangling his mom.  His sister was talking about her marathon training...she's new to running (lost >100 pounds doing it), just ran her first marathon and training for her second one. Her coach had her run a 22 mile run which took her 5 1/2 hours!! Holy moley! I just couldn't help myself and went on an EN ROI/Workworks/why throw volume at a problem rant. She's looking for a new coach now.

  • Hi All!

Couldn't stay away long! Taxes almost done. One more weekend.

G--Here are a couple of links from Leerburg on introducing a new dog. I haven't read them, but maybe it will be helpful to Indie. Heaven knows, you want them to start out on the right footing! SO exciting! Can't wait to hear all about it. Personally, I'm a fan of two-syllable dog names--easier to use when calling. But Annabelle is just too cute. That would be a hard one not to use. My friend's black-and-tan Coonhound is Masarati--try calling him in a hurry.

Had a GREAT day at BC for Admitted Eagles Day with Taylor. I thought I would be bored stiff, but I enjoyed it very much. BC has never been much on my radar due to the fact that it has a religious affiliation. Doesn't matter what the affiliation, it's just not my cuppa tea when it comes to schools. But that's kind of silly in a school like BC with it's size and diversity. Today helped me put that to niggling point to rest in my mind--somewhat.  Taylor wants to be pre-med, and the session on that was worth the price of tuition. Sounds like they've got it together for support from the first day to the last. The swim meet was awesome, and Taylor HS times make him a real contributor on the Eagles for the get-go. Very good day.

Taking today through Wed off--listening to my own advice that I gave Olivia at this juncture. My times are not holding up at all, and I could not finish the bike on Saturday. That's the brick wall knocking on my cabesa. I also need some head space from all the room training takes in my brain. Mini-break. Much needed it seems.
