No...the joule doesn't download directly with version 2.2 (I think) at this point. I do not have the web based program so I download in poweragent then save it as a .pwr (again...I think) file. It is the last option on the dropdown list. Then I drag it into WKO and viola.
According to Saris they are supposed to have a firmware upgrade sometime in May which will include the ability for the Joule to see Garmin and other ANT+ sensors for speed and cadence...maybe this will all be part of the same package upgrade that you are speaking of.
Vince
Jordan Rapp thinks two weeks for the release....estimated given the time from beta to release....I asked over at ST that would line up with what you've been told.
@Gina, not direct download into 2.2 or 3.0. It's on the list and they are working on it, but for now, Power Agent and then drag and drop into WK0.
I have been reading the IF, NP issues over on the Google Wattage forum. I think I'm going to use my old computer for IM SG and swap out to the Joule after
FYI, I've been corresponding with Saris support, and I've gotten the following response from Ryan @ Saris Support:
"I was able to recreate both your errors and it looks like they are related. I was just talking to our software developer and it seem like he has an idea of what is going on, and is working on a fix. I will let you know when one is ready.
It seems to be a very slow process to get this fixed, but apparently, they are making progress.
1. Anyone know where to get a second bike mount for the Joule?
2. Anyone having issues with PowerAgent and the Joule? I installed PowerAgent from the CD that came with my Joule on both a Windows 7 laptop and a Windows XP desktop. PowerAgent recognizes the Joule, but will not let me configure it. Also, it does not list any Users in the User box. When I creae a "new" user, the user is not avialable in the User box. I've noticed there seem to be some Java errors that occur when I try to configure the Joule. Anyone had this issue? Know of any fixes? I have sent the issues to Saris, but no reply yet.
And, if you (like me) are currently unable to configure your Joule via Power Agent, I just received the following from Saris:
"Move My DocumentsCycleOpsUSER.power out of your mydocuments folder and try configuring your Joule."
where USER is the name you entered when setting up the Joule. For example, my Joule USER is "Steve." So, there should be a "Steve.power file in the My DocumentsCycleOps folder. Since I don't have my laptop with me at work, I'll try it later. If someone else who has had this issue would like to try it and report back, please do.
I have downloaded my ride file from Joule 2.0 into PA.
How do I name my file as a pwx file, in order to export to WKO?
Gina, just click on the file in PA, go to File / export and save it to the desktop. It will create a csv file. Open up WKO and make the screen a little smaller so you can see the csv on the desktop. Select it, drag and drop over the WKO screen and let go. It will open up another screen and save it for you.
Doing this from memory, so if it's not quite right, let me know and I'll pay attention the next time I do it for more detailed instructions.

Hey Tom,
I did as you instructed and I get a WKO message: "Powertap file has records at the same time increments, or records are not in chronological order". I click on Okay and no file transfer.
Gina...I think during the export file aspect you want to change it from csv to pwx (its the last option on the dropdown menu) for WKO to read the file. Mine will not read a csv file.
I export my files in the pwx format. Then when I drag and drop the files into WKO+ 2.2 things come to a halt for a few minutes while WKO+ tells me it is parsing the file.
I'm using WKO 3.0 and don't have the problems Al and Gina are experiencing. I know that PA sometimes creates multiple files from a ride, so I always use the merge function before importing. 3.0 takes .csv files.
I've found that the Joule is calculating my FT for me. I understand that there is a fix on the way so that we can manually over ride the calc. ANyone know the best way to tweak the current FT numbers in the Joule? Mine is a about 20 watts too high and throwing off the IF and TSS calculations on the Joule. WKO over rides the values, so they are OK after import, just like to have them right on the bike.
In understanding (from the Google Wattage Group) that Power Agent defaults to an FTP of 250 when calculating IF and TSS numbers. Actually this is only a problem for those who use Power Agent to analyze their rides. If you export to WKO+ this seems to be a non issue, because both WKO+ and the Joule seem to get the numbers right.

Thanks! That worked for me. I'm still using the old WKO.
It would be nice to figure out how to override that FTP=250 with the Joule. It keeps low-balling my IF and TSS. Of course, I could just work really, really hard and get my FTP to 250.
I open up the activity that I wish to download. Then I select Export Activity Data from the File tab. I then select Desktop as my choice of location to save the file.
I then go to Files of type at the bottom of the pop up screen. The bottom choice is PeaksWare Data File (*.pwx).
OMG ! Al you are brilliant. it is "parsing" now. Seems to be working. I think I tried to do this when I had it open and was reviewing the data and that was why it was a PIA. I will practice again tomorrow! Thank You!
I have new Joule/Quarq installed...downloaded latest PA and Firmware. Issues:
1. Even though I mannually set zones in Joule the TSS and IF that shows on unit during ride is way off.
2. I can not seem to set a specific FTP # (where can you do that in the unit) and when I try to do it in PA in the user set up, it recalculates to something else. So then in PA I tried to set up power zones to as close as possible resemble my WKO and Training Peaks zones.
3. If I analyze specific ride data in PA I can mannually set the FTP so then I can see the IF and TSS, but I'd like to at least see the accurate IF on the unit screen when I'm doing the ride.
FYI......I have not yet downloaded WKO 3. The thought of having three different places for data is making me a bit nutty. I'd like to continue to ultimately have data in Traingpeaks as that is the one place that has all my workouts no matter what equipment. The PA did upload my ride right into TP so that was nice.
You're issues are known problems with the Joule. The Joule will not allow a direct input of FT, it calculates it for you or makes an assumption (I think it sets it at FT = 250 to start). As a result, IF, TSS and other calculations are all off. Importing the data into WKO solves the problem. They are working on a software update to fix this. For now, I just watch NP and do the math in my head
With the new firmware update, the issue of entering FTP is now gone. I have my FTP entered in and it calculates my NP, TSS, IF on the fly very accurately. The numbers jive exactly with WKO when I transfer from PA to WKO 3.0.
I don't know if this makes a difference for those who are having trouble with the numbers, but because I largely didn't understand the power numbers in the PA user setup, I fudged the peak power numbers and entered my accurate FTP. For example, my FTP is 235 so I entered that. For 4 min peak power I entered 300 and 30 min peak power I entered 240. Again, know nothing about what these actually represent. But it seems to work fine.
I had no idea the new update fixed the FT issue. I've just been looking at the Joule and trying to determine how to input the FT. Do you enter the number into PA (Edit User / Power Zones)? If so, how do you transfer the data to the device?
How are you folks getting along with the size of font/ numbers etc? With so many data fields on the screen the numbers don't always seem that clear to me - anyway to reduce the number of data-fields and so make the on screen info clearer? Be handy on a interval workout where actual watts, time & perhaps cadence are key features, at least for me. Mebbe I should play around with the screen contrast settings some more.........

There is a place for entering with the new update, then configure device.
@Terry I did enter my FTP 170. (No laughing). What would you suggest for the the 4 min and 30 min ( I suck at math). But then how to I get the Joule unit itself to recognize that number because last night I had a TSS of 3000 plus for a 40 mile ride. When I download data everthing is okay.
Yep the font is a bit tiny for my middle age eyes but I just try to focus on just a few readings.
FYI downloaded yesterdays data into PA (I haven't yet downloaded wko3...more on that in a minute). Even though I had FTP set, it gets override and the FTP under Power detail still bounces back to 250. But you can just put in your FTP to right number and it recalculates. Again this is still in PA. So after ride, no problem understanding your data. My issue is that the TSS and IF on screen.
As far as WKO, which I was using with Ergomo, havent decided just yet if I need to download it again since I have PA and I also have Trainingpeaks which I continue to use so that there is a master place storing all my data since 2004. I really dont want to have to worry about three different places to put data.
One nice thing is when I download the Joule data is that it goes into PA and upto TP at same time. Ok I better get some work here so I can get a run in.
Thanks for the ongoing support. I will never be a leading edge user of tech again.
As far as the SRAM Force Grupo I put on and Quarq, new sidi shoes with cleats back a little further and handlebar tape..here's what I noticed first of all the $$$$. I love my new handlebar tape. LOL. Feels good. And actually, we'll see this weekend if it is for real when I race, but the new shoes with cleats back a bit made me a ten percent faster and more watts yesterday.
Pam- I am still trying to figure out your TSS/IF issue. Mine have been fine since I got the zones entered correctly. You might try tech support @ ; Saris.

I learned that the hard way.
A new puzzle here:
Downloaded the latest firmware update for Joule yesterday.
Did today's ride as planned, numbers looked normal during intervals, etc.
Download data into WKO and interval NP is WAY low. NP ~ 50 watts lower than what real time showed AND what shows in PA.
TOTAL ride data is fine and matches exactly what the Joule showed.
Why the descrepancy in the interval NP?? I have my FTP set the same in both WKO and the Joule.
I have new Joule/Quarq installed...downloaded latest PA and Firmware. Issues:

Math...but I'm blond. LOL.
Well what was fun is I got new shoes and moved my cleats back...and I was definitely faster and putting out more power.
We will see what happens this weekend when I have a du. THat will be a good test.
Ok this is the last time I'm going to do leading edge on technology thing. hahahahaha.
