  • I'm Stephanie and I live in Miami. I have had an injury plagued 3 years of Triathlon completing several sprints and international distances. I turned 50 last year and decided I'd do IMFL 2015. image

My goal this year is to enjoy the process, do the work, garner some discipline, and get strong. 50 is the new 30, right?

    Cheers!

  • Hi everyone,
I'm Andres and live in Miami. I finished last year my first Ironman in Louiseville. It was fantastic. I have also don a couple of 1/2 and the idea of 2015 is just to concentrate in improving my time in 1/2 being Miami 70.3 in Octuber my BIG race.

I started doing again exercise 3 years ago after a few years having some issues (surguries) with my lower back. With some limitiation, but no excuses for Triatlons I been slowly pushing harder and starting to feel ready not only to finish but hopefully get into a podium at some point.

Looking forward to get to know you all
  • Stephanie, Welcome aboard!

  • Thank you! My husband and I have a place in Roswell and I lived there for 10 months last year. I loved running along the Chattahootchee. And I miss the North Atlanta Multi sport people I met!

  • Hello, All:
My name is Thom Reid and I joined EN for a training plan and to gain advice to help me complete my first IM (Louisville) later this year. Looking forward to working with some of you over the next several months.

    Thom
  • Thom, welcome aboard. Don't be shy about popping up and asking questions. Make the coaches and the Haus work for you. I'm in for Louisville this year as well so hope we can get ready together. Good luck!
  • I was hooked from the moment I saw SAU's as part of the training calculus.  For my husband, 2 yo, and 5 yo, triathlon training is a family team sport!

Last year I got a road bike (previously completed an olympic on a commuter!) and surprised myself twice by placing 2nd place in my age group on a sprint and olympic race. I want to just try the 70.3 with a goal of finishing.

Thanks for the amazing resources and community!

    -Shelley

  • Hi Everyone,

I'm Jordan and live in Michigan. Just joined EN today! Right now I am signed up for IM Louisville and Steelhead 70.3. Louisville will be my first IM. Looking forward to having discussions and meeting some of you this year.
  • Welcome Jordan!

I was signed up for Steelhead last summer and couldn't go due to injury. I may try it again this year, I'll keep you posted!! Enjoy the team, it's a good group.

  • Hey guys.  My name is Courtney Still, and I won a free month of training through last night's twitter chat.  I have heard awesome things about EN through my friend Jamie Fields.  I have been a runner for a few years, and have decided to "tri" my hand at being a triathlete.  I am currently signed up to participate in the Augusta HIM in September.

  • Welcome Courtney. Poke around the Haus and don't be afraid to ask questions. image
  • Welcome Courtney! I have several friends who did that 70.3 and loved it! There are a number of threads on here you'll enjoy. A women's thread, probably one for your race and more!

  • Hi Team,
I'm a newbie around here as I just finished my free trial month and am now official - woo hoo!
I'm 35, originally from Atlanta, but in the process of transitioning from Detroit to Phoenix with my job. I caught the endurance sports buzz in 2013 after moving to Michigan. I've always enjoyed running a few miles somewhat regularly, really got into mountain biking when I lived out in the Rockies (used to make fun cyclists in spandex) and did summer league swim teams as a kid and competed in several high school sports. So, needless to say, I've always enjoyed competing!
After completing my first half marathon (Ann Arbor May '13) I felt confident enough to go for the full distance marathon (Richmond Nov '13) and I was hooked after that, however, the run-focused training i was doing got saturated and somewhat boring to me. Logging all the long miles was taking its toll on my body and the tri team that works out at my gym began looking like better and better to me.
So in Nov '13 I tested the waters with the team and began training for Raleigh 70.3 and raced in June '14. I was in love with triathlon from that point on. My training progressed throughout the early season last year and once IM Maryland was announced, I felt i was ready to go for the full distance IM. I survived the race to tell about it and enjoyed the whole experience so much that I decided this was a great lifestyle for me based on the sense of accomplishment I was feeling day to day with training/racing.
So after talking to my friends Rich and Anna at the end of last season, they clued me in on EN and the unique philosophy preached here that is a big departure from what I had experienced with my team. So far, so good and I'm learning a ton simply reading through the forums/wikis. You guys are rock stars!
For '15, I'm currently signed up for IMCHOO. I'm going to look at earlier season races (70.3 most likely) in locations somewhere convenient to Arizona...so any suggestions on races are much appreciated!
Looking forward to getting know as many of you as I can and wish you all much success in 2015!
  • Welcome! It's only been a few weeks for me and I find all the information spot on. Enjoy!

  • Hello! Melissa here, I'm in my EN trial week. I'm a beginner, I've completed a few sprint tris over the past few years (love the Chicago tri). This year I decided to go for a Half Iron. Loving the EN structure so far. Need to get the hang of the workout timing and zone pacing. I have a decent swimming background; want to make strides in the bike and the run. So far so good...

  • Hi All,

I'm new here (again). Endurance Nation took me to a great finish at IM Lake Placid two years ago, and I am hoping it does the same again this year. I an signed up for Ironman Lake Placid and may do Challenge Quassy 1/2IM as a warmup. I am new to power so will be very interested in learning how to make the most of my Powertap in my training and especially on race day. I'm here for the structure to keep my honest, the educational aspect of learning how to train properly and the social aspect of being motivated by people who have a desire to work hard. I live, work and train in NYC.

  • Hi Jerry and Melissa. New Yorkers, I'm jealous. Except in Jan/Feb... then I'm happy to be in Miami!

    Welcome.

  • My name is Jeff Margulies and I live in Denver, CO.

I've done a number of half iron distance tri's but have never trained properly. I am now signed up for my first full in October and would like to prepare accordingly.

Definitely looking for training partners in the Denver area if there is anyone out there interested.
  • Just a quick note to say hello again.  Gone for a while but I'm back again image

Looking forward to reconnecting with all the old timers and getting to know the new members.

Hey Tom, good to have you back on the squad!

  • Hello. I am Jon Van Steenvort from Dupont, WA.  I have  been a Triathlete for seven years and have completed two Ironmans and five 70.3 IMs.  My most recent race was 2015 IM CDA which I completed in 15:17.  I am very proud that I was able to overcome the extreme elements 105 deg temps, four flat tires, and still finish strong by running the last 6 miles and crossing the finish line!  During the race, I learned to plan for anything to
happen, adjust as required, and keep moving forward - never quit!

During 2015 IM CDA, I realized that I need to change my approach in order to take my training and racing to the next
level by committing to a well-coached program
with disciplined and focused workouts -- receive personal SBR feedback -- so I can
guide my own growth and know that I am doing everything to prepare myself
to race the Ironman distance competitively in my AG.  To date, I have trained
primarily on my own in order to balance my career and Family needs and demands of raising two awesome kids (Kiersten 13 and Kade 10) both competitive swimmers -- future triathletes!  I recently joined the Raise the Bar TRI Club and I am ready to try a new
approach; a well-coached program like EN and train/learn from a great triathlon
community.  My next big race is the Black Diamond Half IM in Sep so I look
forward to participating in the RTB camp with EN in August.

Look forward to actively training and getting to know the coaches and members of EN!

    Sincerely

    Van

  • Welcome, Van. Congrats on your IM CDA finish! There are few of us in the Olympia area.
  • Hi.  My name is Kyle and I live in a suburb of Detroit.  I'm brand new to triathlon and training, only training since April and having only 2 sprint races under my belt.  Loving it a lot so far, and hope to kick up my distances and training in 2016.
  • Welcome Kyle. Dig into the threads and ask ask ask questions. Then ask more questions. Make the Haus work for you. image
  • Hi Kyle! Welcome to the Haus! Lots of En'rs training in and around Detroit! Roy is correct....there is so much to learn here. Start with the recommended stuff in the emails then let your mouse wander! image

See you about town...Island Lake or Stony Metro!
  • Thanks Trish and Roy!
  • Hello Everyone. My name is Gary, I'm 47 and live in Goodyear, AZ just outside Phoenix. I started triathlon a year ago. Would be great to find a training buddy of similar ability in my area.

I have done two sprints and most recently the NYC Triathlon - Oly. I would like to work up to a 70.3, but haven't determined which race would be the best for my abilities/preferences. I am a beginner/slow runner and I am hoping to really improve in this area. I have really enjoyed the races I've done and have improved and learned quite a bit from each one.

Look forward to meeting other team members and participating in races with them.
