Hey All, My name is Elias. I just joined EN. I bought a 1/2 IM plan for a race in Oct, but also have IM Cozumel in November. I live in Boca Raton, FL and have been doing tri's for about 3 years and about 5 years of Marathoning. Looking to put some "work" in this year, as I qualified as a clyde to go to the halfmax 1/2 Iron and don't want to embarasss myself too much. Looking forward to learning about what EN has to offer. Thanks, Eli
Hi All, my name is Renato, from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Just did my first IM this year, also did some Sprints, Olympics and HIM's during my 3 years of Triathlon. Really love this lifestyle, and I am fortunate enough to have lots of time to train, ~20hs/weeks are not a problem in my life.
My strongest sport is running, my cycling is MOP and yes, my swim sucks.
In my first IM season, I did the far and fast all together and struggled with a shin splint that made me took off a good part of my run training in the last 8 weeks prior to race. I downloaded all the free stuff from this site, and it helped me a lot. On race day just cared about the execution, and even without all the run fitness, I was able to run my first marathon without walking and even split the two halfs of the run.
After the race I decided to try the EN approach, joined the waiting list, and finally here I am now.
Hi, my name is Aaron Reimer. I am new to EN and excited to be part of this great team. I am 25 and have been doing triathlons for 3 years now. I got my interest in endurance events in high school running xc. I ended up doing pole vault throughout college until my senior year where I chose to train for a marathon. I ended up getting a bike and learning to ride in the streets of Queens and LI in New York. Since college, I moved out to San Diego and work out here. I did a tri with the local club and the next month did the Superfrog half. The next spring I did IM CA 70.3 and signed up for IM AZ at the rollover session. Ive also completed the Superfrog again last year at 5hr 17 min and IM St George this year in 13hr 10min. That is where I met Rich and he gave me the 4 keys DVD.. glad i watched it. I probably wouldnt have finished if it wasnt for holding back on the bike. I will be doing IM Boulder 70.3 in August and Silverman fulll in November. I just got a power meter and am really excited by how bad I was at pacing. Ive learned how to pace much better now and am looking forward to a fast time in Boulder. I have a long term goal to go to Kona by the time Im 30. Hopefully this helps me achieve that. I have already noticed a large increase in the workout intensities. It turns out I was dogging my running compared to my 5k vdot. Nice to meet everyone and looking forward to learning a lot!
Aaron, Elias, Renato - Welcome aboard, guys! I think you'll find here overwhelming knowledge and support. Add to that your own persistence and consistency, and you'll be surprised how far you'll go.
This is Chad. I'm 29 years old, married, two kids (4 years and 8 months, respectively), and work as an assistant professor at the University of Hong Kong in Hong Kong, SAR, China.
I'm currently slow. Very slow. After messing around with a couple of Olympic distance races for two years, I did my first 140.6 in 2009 on very little training, and it showed (14:30 at Vineman).
I want to be fast, very fast. Thus, I'm focusing on 70.3 distance for 2010 and 2011. My "A" race for 2010 is Iroman 70.3 Taiwan on October 30.
My long term target is to qualify for Kona in 2014. Yep, I need to take at least 4:30 off in the next four years. I'll take whatever help I can get.
This is my second trip to EN. I was a member during the open month last year. 29, single father, live in Connecticut. 'Good' pool swimmer but it never seems to translate into the water. Current FTP~240watts, vDot=51. Weight/kg~3.36. Decent cyclist/runner, but I melt when it gets real hot/humid,
So my plan started, and I already have a question and a comment.
1. What is ABP in reference to the Sunday rid in the plan. You know, the ride with all the work?
2. I just had to give a WOW to the coaches. i am finishing the second edition of Training and Racing with power and they reference EN. I just thought it was cool.
This week's newsletter says we have lots of new people in the haus. Where are you? Please introduce yourself here! And definitley let us know which races you are doing and any questions you might have. We've been a leetle acronym happy lately, so if you need to know your AIP from AOP, the team's here to help. - Beth
My name is Scott Taylor. I'm 48 and live in Long Beach, CA. I'm married with one child (10 yrs old) and a very supportive wife who also does an occasional sprint. I'm in my 3rd year. I just did my first IM (CDA) about a month ago. I too, had the 4 Keys DVD before my race and implemented much of the guidance. I had a generally successful first race. Like most, my goal is to get faster. I have no problem putting in the work and just want to maximize my gains from the work I do. Simple as that...
I look forward to the wealth of knowledge and experience available at EN. I will definitely be tapping into it.
Hi all, My name is Hasan. just joined EN (actually a week ago, but it too this long for this noob to make it to the new member thread!!!!) I actually met a bunch of EN members in the IMWI rally, and here I am a couple of weeks later - excited to be part of the TEAM!!!!! doing steelhead, and IMWI (A Race) now, I'm off to exploring the rest of the site!!!!! cheers, -hb
There is so much great information as well as helpful and encouraging teammates to be found throughout the forums. You will learn and be entertained! I will also give a plug for the Wiki (under Resources) This is a "living" resource that is constantly updated, and gives great basic and way-more-than-basic info on all aspects of the EN way.
Hi Scott, Stacy, and Hasan! Hasan, I believe I remembering meeting you at the tri rally. Definitely jump over to the IMWI thread -- we report in our daily workouts. The mojo has been great there!
Beth and Aimee, thanks for the warm welcome Aimee, I'll look up the wiki in the resources tab. In the meantime, I better go find my way to the IMWI group (hopefully before race day - jk!!!!) the mojo is great everywhere on this site - seriously!!!!
Hasan, welcome to EN! You must be the same Hasan that Betsy, Jeff and I hooked up with on the IM course on rally weekend! Was wondering if you would join....looks like you did! Hope all is well with training and your residency....I remember you saying you are one very busy guy Please ask away....there is a lot of info in the haus and lots of great peeps!
Welcome! We're confident you'll find your interactions with the coaches, and more importantly the athletes, in these forums to be the most valuable component of your EN membership. That said, I want to make you aware of one fact we've seen over 3-4yrs of running EN:
The people who participate in the forums -- asking questions, interacting with the members, and basically getting their money's worth out of their membership -- simply go faster on race day. The sum total of all of _that_ above means they do a little more work, are a little smarter, and a little faster on race day than the people who don't.
We've seen this consistently, season to season, year to year. Just something to think about.
Kathy and Rich, thanks for the welcome. definitely LOTS of GREAT PEEPS!!!! It's just great getting lost over here..... now i better move on and do something purposeful;-) Kathy, Ill be on that IMWI thread - soon -hb
Hi, I'm Lauren Whitmore, from London. I've been doing triathlon for 4 years now, having been a swimmer through school and uni. I really love racing and I've been doing all kinds of events, from sprint distance to Ironman triathlon, adventure racing, cycling TT's, criteriums and road races and some open water swimming races thrown in for good measure! I've done three Ironman races, Austria (2008), Western Australia (2009) and France/Nice (2010). I just missed out on the podium (by 6 seconds!) at Nice, which made me wonder what I could do if I really focussed on Ironman in 2011. I used one of the EN plans to guide my training for France, but didn't really stick to it very closely as I was doing so many other things, but I liked the way the plan worked and the philosophy behind it. I'm looking forward to getting stuck in (I think I'll be starting with the October OS group) and getting to know everyone. Thanks, Lauren.
I have done several ironman events, but have never had a training plan. I've just swam, biked and ran till I was really tired and then showed up at starting line. I awoke this morning to a plan on my computer and am a bit intimidated by it. I am suppose to run this morning, but I have plans to meet a group to bike. It is going to take me a while to adapt to a schedule.
I am excited to be at the starting line of Ironman Cozumel with the confidence born from training properly! This will be a new feeling for me. I am also doing the Boulder marathon, as this has always been my training plan....just do long races.
I live on an island and am the only person currently doing long course triathlons so I am also looking forward to the opportunity to learn from the experience of others.
Stacy! I am late reading this thread, but SO glad to see another CO girl here! Welcome! Where are you in CO? Good you are finding your way around here. Hop over to the women's forum sometime and say "hey".
Hasan, Lauren, Kim, and anyone else I have missed, WELCOME TO DA HAUS! So glad to have you all here! Lauren, I replied to your other post regarding plans. Since you outlined here, what races you have done, you don't have to duplicate when I asked what races you did!
Best of luck to all of you in your training and racing! You will love the vibe in this place. And I warn you...the forums are addicting!!!! Big welcome to all!
Aloha: my name is Paul Meloan, I am 43 and live in Gaithersburg, MD (Mont Co suburb of Washington DC). I joined EN about two weeks back, and have a lot to learn. I have been doing triathlons for 8 years, running marathons for 13, and enjoy the long course to Ironman distances. I joined EN because I was impressed with the community of thoughtful people that Patrick and Rich are cultivating here, and I firmly believe that community gets it done. Along with a few friends, I started the Montgomery County (MOCO) Multisport Club last year, because our county has a large number of triathletes (and people who want to be) but there was no local community helping to show the way. We're fixing that, one athlete and workout at a time.
I also joined EN because I have decided at the ripe old age of 43 that I no longer wish to run triathlons, I wish to race them. I am taking the plunge and acclimating now with the hopes of beginning to build speed in the OS (see, I am already writing in code!) that will translate into progress next year. IMLP 2011 will be my third Ironman (B2B last year, Kona back in 2004).
Assets: I am patient, diligent, and willing to follow instructions. I have a wonderful wife who gets it, and two teenage kids who brag about their dad the tri-geek (they also got a cool trip to Hawaii out of the deal when I won a Kona lotto slot in 2004). I own my own business which I love, and even my clients think this is kinda weird, but in a very cool sort of way. I also seem hard to injure (knock wood), and despite 14 marathons and numerous triathlons I have never missed a day I wanted to go train because of injury. (How's that for a kiss of death?)
Liabilities: I am getting older, and this does not get easier. I have let my weight creep up in the past five years (from about 185 to 210). I am a bad swimmer. If I am not meeting a ride or run buddy at 0630 I am likely to hit the snooze bar on the clock.
So pass the word to anyone in metro DC that there is a new tri club in Montgomery County. Hope to meet many of you at a camp or event soon, and certainly at IMLP in 2011.
@ Paul - Right, there's no shame in wanting to go faster - it's actually more fun!
And, I bet if you can shed those pesky 25#, you won't be talking about how "old" you are anymore. 10% less weight means 10% faster up those LP hills. (Or something like that)

Thanks. I got most of the rest of them!

Greetings!
I watched the Endurance Nation 4 Keys DVD and knew I had to be a part of this community!
My key race is IM AZ which represents some unfinished business since in 2005 I withdrew about 2 months before due to an itb issue.......ugh!
I am more of a complete than compete type athlete and love the lifestyle and training towards a goal of triathlon especially long course.
Colorado is my home where I live with my very supportive husband and almost 2 year old......
Happy summer to all and I am excited to learn more from all of you!
Cheers
