Week 5 day 3 done = 200 pushups!!! Only last 25 on knees I finally feel like I am getting a little stronger...breaking through. Retest tomorrow. Let's go gang, keep pushing up
Did my progress test- only 45. That's only 5 up from last weeks test. I barely made 45 and the hunderdpushups.com website says if you can't do 45 to repeat week 5. So I'll be repeating. That's fine by me- pretty sure I would not have been able to jump from 45 to 100 in just one week!!
Of course, I may still be tired from the 200 I did on Friday
Kathy- you rock! Can't wait to hear how your rest went today!
I scored a 55 on the test over the weekend, so moved up to Week 6 Day 1 today. Looking at it I thought I'd be OK. Doing it... that was another thing. I had to take more than 1 minute between every set and then 3 minutes before the final push. I eeked it all out on toes, but I think that was the hardest day yet. I am certain that next weekend I will not have miraculously reached 100 pushups. The website does not really address what to do if you can't (unless I missed something, which is entirely possible). So I might never reach the magic 100, but I intend to keep this as part of my regular regimen.
Michele- if it's any consolation, Joe is a bit worried about the big jump on that final test too! The website does say that if you don't make it, to go back and repeat the program starting at either week 5 or 6 (I guess depending on how much you feel you need).
But I'll be rooting for you to make the 100!!! That way I'll have confidence I can do it too when I finally reach the big test.
Michele, take a few days to taper and see what you can do. You may be able to do much more than you think. I'm planning on attacking the final test as 5 x 20, I wont stop in between, but mental I am got to do 20, pause for a second to take a breath and then repeat 5 times.,
If I don't make it, I'm going to go back and repeat week 5 and 6 as Nemo suggested ... then try again and repeat until I do make it.
Hoepfully this is only going to be a 6 week challenge, but it may be 8 weeks or 10 if I can't get there in 6.
Good point Matt. I have been "Working" M-W-F in the AM and testing Saturday nights. Maybe I do just need more of a break before the test. I already do that mental break up, but without the pause. I will try it though. It works for so many other things. I just feel a lot of fatigue in the shoulders approaching the 1 minute mark. Same problem with plank work. I need to have stronger shoulders and this is helping.
Love the idea. Upper body / core strength is not what it use to be. Nice ROI on this so I'll be starting. Took initial test: 32. I guess I start @ week 3.
I completed Week 4/Day 1 last night, 120 pushups. Oh my arms were putty afterwards!
Also did Week 1/Day 3 of the 200 situp challenge. Got 87 crunches done, then 87 swissball pikes. Skipped the mason/russian twists last night and just went to bed. Late night workouts jack me all up for my sleep patterns.
I just love that we have new folks joining in to play!!! This has been a great challenge for me. It takes such little time, and I feel so much stronger for it. I'll be doing Week 5 Day 1 today- it's a repeat, but I go up to the next level and OY that looks tough!!!
Scott- when did you do your workouts? I also find if I do them too late in the day I'm just buzzing and can't sleep.
@Nemo, I usually do my pushups and situps after dinner (8pm+) lately, but I'm going to try to move them pre-work in the morning so I can relax at night and sleep. My work schedule is pretty flexible to coming in late and still being able to leave early, as long as I get my work done - which is always done (I hate "action items").
I am so pumped....just finished pushing up 60 on my retest between week 5/6...I feel like a braggart...but since we are sharing....ALL ON MY TOES!!! I love this challenge and the mojo that flows on this thread....all you push up freaks....ROCK!!! Oh and welcome to all the newcomers and returnees
Thanks Nemo and Michele!!! You Chickas are so inspiring!! 100 still seems light years away...guess well shall see. If we all make 100 on our toes, a special celebration at Cowgirl Camp in July is in order Good luck Nemo with repeat week 5 and Michele let's see those big numbers for week six....I'm still afraid to look Haven't heard from Sheryl L. in awhile..how's it going?
Awe-finally got my test in today, did a little taper set on Monday and was able to get to 100 today after my run. Will check in tomorrow to see if I can move my arms! Time to go into maintance. I teach a college class-Introduction to group fitness. Do you think it would be too much of a set up to challenge the class to see who can do the most pushups? Lots of energy out there-keep up the great work-no scrawny Tri geeks here
Sadly I lost all my Mojo during my injury ( injury would have nothing to do with my push ups) So I have not been doing my Work. I am going to try to see if I cant still pull it off in teh final few days =(
Sheryl!!!!! You did it!!! Great job!!! I have been waiting for your 100 post....you came through as the first EN Chicka Push up Freak!!!! Can't wait to see who is next??
Awesome job Sheryl! Definitely challenge those kids to do it and then show them how it's REALLY done! I am now thinking that if I taper, I might hit that 100. Yesterday, I made 56 on my max set, after doing the other 7 sets. So tomorrow is my last official training set day, then I will try Monday to hit 100. Defintiely breaking them up into sets of 10 made the 56 easier. Will use that going forward.

I did pretty good today with the sets and took a little extra rest before attempting the "max" set this time. I got 45 in and it said to do 50. Still not the max, but a LOT closer than I've ever been!
Oh- and I got my EN order in the mail yesterday including arm warmers. Now, I ordered them on a big wing & a prayer because I've never had success getting arm warmers to fit my scrawny little arms unless they are XS (and EN only had S in stock). I was amazed and excited to find they fit me!! Oh sure- they are really long, but they are going to stay up!!! I'm attributing that success to this little challenge. :-) I'm sure I've got slightly less scrawny arms now!
Got 160 pushups in today, the Week 4/Day 3 workout. Got a progress test next to see where I stand, which will put me behind a few days as I only do it every other day for recovery purposes.
Will do Week 2/Day 1 of situps tomorrow too. WAY behind on those.

I will be keeping my eye on you, Nemo and Michele keep em crankin'

I have to play catch-up on my sit-ups though, a day behind on those.
