  • 3 pullups??? Kathy that's freakin awesome!!! I hit one of those assisted pull-up machines at the Y yesterday and surprised myself that I could do one pull-up with 75 pounds added. That's still pathetic, but in the past I couldn't do them unless I had at least 90 lbs. That pullup challenge is next on my list- gotta get hubby working on that pullup bar!

  • Nemo, hey thanks for the encouragement image Never thought that 3 pullups might be "freakin awesome"!! wow, that makes my day! I have been doing the pull up machine, like you, at LTF...I can do 2 sets of 10 @ 50lbs of added weight, with dips in between. Like to keep those lats strong for the swimimage I think I will start the pull up challenge after the push ups.

    Since I only have boys, if I am remembering right you have a girl or two in the mix, I think they either feel sorry for me or they are trying to beef me up image...though, all kidding aside, they are a great bunch of boys!

    I did my test after week 4 and I have made HUGE improvement. I was able to hit 45! This is sooo inspiring.

    This must be a "holy" effort...Michele @ 45 and Nemo @ 40...wonder what Sheryl is going to post??? I had a very busy weekend and not able to tackle Week Four day 3 yet..so, no new numbers to post...tomorrow image Great job EN chickas!!!

  • Sheryl, that's just super amazing!!! I just did 140 for the Week 5, Day 1 total. I do NOT recommend doing your Day 1 workout the day after the test! OW OW OW OW!

    Do you folks realize that many of us have now exceeded a total of 1000 push-ups since we started? That's just mind boggling! Way to go gang!

  • YIKES, No one told me Week 5 would include 8 sets!!! 140 pushups for me today. That last "Max" set was a killer, I only got half way.
  • PS- I'm about to get into big trouble. I just tweeted my pushup results from today and through down a challenge to Coach R to match it. :-) He's gonna kick my ass!

    Yeah, when I saw that set change, I was happy about the smaller numbers, but still! I did take an almost 2 minute break before the max last set and it was still a struggle!

    My week 5 says 5 sets, where do you and Michele get 8 sets?
  • Ok, forget I asked about the sets. I don't usually look ahead at days and I see day one week 5 is still 5 sets, then it goes up to 8 after that. Will do day one tomorrow. Day one looks hard image help, I am getting afraid of these image
  • Kathy-I am on week 5 and today did 8 sets of push-ups the last set was a 50! I took more than the 45 sec rest, but I did it. I think the day 1 with the higher reps was harder than the more sets fewer reps. I kind of procrastinated all day about cranking them out, but did them before T'ai Chi-got my zen going-good luck-be strongimage
  • Kathy- That is exactly what Nemo and I were saying. Then you surprise yourself. Sometimes it takes more rest, but we get there. Good luck! Hang in there with us!

    Thanks Michele and Sheryl for the encouraging HANG IN THERE WITH US!! That helped this morning when I was tempted to not do these push ups, but instead I pumped them out!! It is so fun to put the numbers in the spread sheet and feel a sense of YEAH BABY, I JUST DID ALL THOSE!! On to week 5 day 2....actually looks easier. I think I will like the 8 sets of less reps, kind of a nice break in the routine.

    Week 6 brings 9 sets! I agree that I like the more sets with lower reps. It makes the first 8/9ths of the workout more manageable ... but the 9th set is REALLY hard!

  • I'm still reading too! Tonight is week 3, day 2 (missed doing it yesterday). Not nearly as much volume as y'all, but it's still challening - especially coupled with the 200 sit-up challnge I'm doing at the same time, and the OS of course!
