OK ladies, I lied in the "What it Takes" thread- you know I HAD to also catch up on the Cowgirl Mojo!!!
Beth- LOVE your pics! You are so Creative!
Linda- yes, of course yes. what a wonderful moment!
Michele- when you receive the poster from Beth, would you please add Pam next to last on the list of Cowgirls that receive that particular poster? I'm intentionally asking you not to add her to the bottom because Gina & Su specifically requested they not receive it until last- and I think we can all understand why!
Pam- WELCOME! So glad to have another Cowgirl on board! For more info on where this whole EN Cowgirl Poster thing came from, check out this thread in the old forum: http://www.endurancenation.us/en_fo...wgirl+mojo
it's one of my favorites of all times- such a special day for all of us! Oh- and don't forget, Rich has to wear a pink speedo and afro wig at mile 18 at IMWI 2010 because we won the bet!!!!
L- I love that you had that moment. Hopefully, I will have a similar one soon!!
During our AZ training we kept a countdown on our kitchen chalkboard. Last week I erased the cactus and just wrote "Mooooo". Underneath, Susanna had written "Noooooo". As the last week has passed we've talked alot about training and our life. Training for IM as a couple was really, really tough.
This morning I glanced @ the chalkboard. The " noooooo" was gone and the " moooo" remains.
G-- The couple thing is totally tough. And I don't really train "with" Keith. We go out together, and he comes and collects me from time to time. That doesn't mean we haven't had a few good knock down/drag outs on the roads--or in the basement. Not pretty. But, in the long run, we've worked through a lot of junk through our time together training. Most of it, speaking for myself, meant looking in the mirror and paying attention to the angst I was causing. Contrary to what I would like to think, not all contention is Keith's fault. I sure hope Su stays on board--and you too.

It's surprisingly challenging to train as a couple! it's easy when both people are feeling good and happy with where they are but if one starts going the other way, it can get crappy quick. I have to be honest. I've really enjoyed letting Dave go off on his little marathon quest while I've been playing at other things. it's so much easier to take a back seat and watch- you miss alot when you've got your own stuff to figure out.
Max doesn't train at the same intensity, but we argue and it is usually because of the intervals. I am not kidding. We have learned- best not to talk to me until the workout is over unless you are on fire (literally). I just had to send out an e-mail apology to the US Ambassador to Palau. He tried to talk to me in the gym the morning before leaving. By the time I was trying to track him down later that day, he had left the resort and moved into his ambassador house. I can be such a dork. (Disclaimer- I had already spent over a week talking to him everyday. Nice guy, but I thought we had established that I don't talk during exercise. He forgot.) Arguing is a stress reaction.
Theoretically speaking, of course, If a certain cowgirl happened to have created a paper doll of Rich in pink speedo (with Orlando Bloom's body, because I'm sure he and Rich are twins) would other cowgirls be interested in having copies?

That's hysterical...and intriguing at the same time! I'll take a copy fo sho.

Toooooo funny! Oh yeah, I'd take one! Just make sure he's also got the afro wig on so it's clear to my hubby this is funny (like Borak) and not girlie porn!
Beth, I just picked myself off the floor after falling off my chair laughing at your creation. The staff at the Wound Clinic got a good laugh too. Thanks!
Havent' said anything in this thread for a bit but still in the game for IMWI and glad I signed up for later in the year IM so I can continue to have patience. nothing new for me to say except piriformis is still grieving me!! mid December. My local HIM early June has been moved to late September so my ideal training race before the IM has disappeared!! Memphis in May is late May and I am considering that as an OLYMPIC tri to give hubby a go at triathlons too since he has only done one sprint!

M--Really hope the Prednisone will help that piriformis. I'm not up to speed running either. IMMoo isn't til Sept so we're still okay. Right now I'd rather run intervals than practice patience!
You girls that are not running "much" are making me feel better. Moo seems a long way off and I am not so much motivated right now. Keep telling me I have lotsa time!!
From my POV no worries limited running girls. IM Moo 2008 was injured often and only went into IM with one 15 mile run. I PRed my marathon by a half hour and that was with a run 5 mins, walk 30 strategy until the last 4 miles. Same thing happened for my half IM. I had one 90 minute run and I PRed my half IM half.
I have found the bike fitness transfer to the run. I'm probably only running once or twice a week right now and my 5k times are holding. So don't fret. IM Moo far far far away. Just get well and healthy.

Giddyup!!!
Well that makes me feel much better. Thanks for sharing that, Pam. Great to hear that reassurance. If I can keep my legs from frying, I know I have another whopper PR in me. I took 90-minutes off last time, and there was more in there if only my quads hadn't turned to glass and shatttered.
Actually I barely trained on the 5/30 cuz my coach at the time did not suggest it until three weeks before IM. I freaked. I thought Id be doing the marathon forever. But I tested it on a few runs and doing the 5/30, my pace was sometimes 20 seconds per mile faster than had I not walked on the same exact course. I couldn't believe it.
The key is you have to start that from the git go. You can't run five miles and then start it...at that point you have already fried your legs. You start it from the git go and then towards the end can stop it. It feels a bit goofy but you notice how good you feel each time you start to run again.
It worked very well for me because it gave me something to look forward to (the breaks) and made five mins go by fast. the 30 sec walk breaks go very fast and for the most part always landed right at an aid station. I did find that if for some reason I was at an aid station for longer than 30 seconds then I did run to the next one but then walked a minute. So there probably were some miles that had more 9/1s..but the 5/30 is my preference.
It's the Jeff Galloway thing. Usually the have you run 9 mins and walk a min but the minute seemed too long and I worried I'd walk a minute and then when it was time to run I'd hit an aid station (every mile) so that's how we come up with 5 mins on 30 secs off.
I will for sure do it again and will figure out how to work it into training. I don't know what EN long runs look like except that we never run longer than 2:30 which works for me just fine.
Sounds like your biking is going awesome so from my experience I would say don't stress over the run thing cuz that amazing biking you are doing is going to help a lot.

No major IMMOO planning in the last few weeks. All is good.
