@Joe: I was able to 'intervalize' the last minute of the 12 minute segment warmup by inserting a 1s rest interval at 40% of FTP at the 10:59 mark. It seems to work fine.
I seem to suffer from borked uploads more than most. I am not completing all rides (but most) as "written" and maybe that is an issue? It seems the problems are worse when you manually upload...
This mornings WKO shows the right data on the PC but no picture. The website shows the picture but the data stops at 14:33 (rode for ~45:00). http://www.trainerroad.com/cycling/rides/249245
I've requested my EN verification for Trainer Road a few days ago and later sent a request through TR support but havent gotten a reply. If the "brotherhood" between EN and TR is no longer available, please let me know.
Hi Guys! I have everything set up and all is good, except for the ability to read the Power on my Garmin 310 XT. I can read the power on the computer, so I can at least see everything on the computer scree.
Second item: My trainer is an old Kurt Kinetic and doesn't have a model name or type. I just selected the Kinetic Road machine. Will this matter much if it is the wrong one? I am guessing that as long as I have the same settings throughout this winter, that I will be able to monitor progress well.
Judson - the power reading you see on TrainerRoad is 'virtual'. AFAIK, unless you have an actual ANT+ power meter (such as a PowerTap, Quark, etc.), you will not be able to see a reading on your 310XT.
I am about to do the bike test in a few hours, will be the first time using TR. I haven't had much time to explore all the features. I am assuming that at the end of the workout you can go back and look at your numbers and find the avg power for the 5' and 20' interval. I just want to confirm this so I dont end up doing it and not having any numbers.
Also, for the bike test, you just begin riding, no actual pre-loaded workout to follow. Correct?
If you've already been approved for the EN group, then there is a FTP workout to follow that will already have all of the segments pre-programmed in. I think it's called "OS FTP TEST". After you finish this, it will show you average (and normalized) Power for the 5 min and 20 min segments. You can then multiply the power in the 20' segment x 0.95 to calculate your "EN approved FTP"
Hey all. I submitted a request to get access to the EN workouts. Our wiki says it takes a day but it has been 2. Has anyone else had to wait more than 1 day? Thanks!
Have the names of the workouts changed? I saw them before, but they've since disappeared and I can't find them by searching using the designated pattern ("2014 OS Wk14" or any other variation) as instructed in the wiki. Does that still work for anyone else? Thanks.
Hi, I'm hoping to join TrainerRoad for the OS. One question, their website says they are compatible with Window XP. I have Windows Vista which they say nothing about. ANyone else have Vista? Is it compatible? Thanks, (Of course I'll ask them directly if you guys don't know, I just thought it would be faster coming here.)
Does anyone use the power smoothing option? I have it set to off, but was wondering if there is an advantage to setting it to 3 or 5 seconds besides that data is not changing as often.
Is there a way to delete a workout from the 'career' tab on TR? My first ride I had put in the wrong trainer and my power numbers are off the chart and messing up my records?
when you go into the career section on the app click on the workout and on the right hand side there will be a Facebook logo and a little garbage can two icons down . Just click on it and it will ask if you want to delete the workout.
There's an option on your Profile tab for Power smoothing. Here's how it works:
If you set it to 3 seconds or 5 seconds, we will display the average power for the last 3 or 5 seconds. We still record the raw power, though, so if you download your file later, your power values will be the raw data for every second.
There's another type of smoothing that we do with the graph. Since there are generally less pixels than seconds in the workout graph, we draw a point every 5 seconds, which is the average of the last 5 seconds worth of power data.
A couple other notes:
If we have less data than the smoothing window, the displayed power will just be the average of the data we have so far.
All of the interval calculations are done with the raw power data
You might want to turn off power smoothing for workouts with lots of short, intense intervals. If you don't, the display will lag a bit as you increase your effort at the beginning of an interval.
When I choose to "Create a custom workout" I find all the EN workouts in the Trainerroad tab, but to save them into my available workouts, I have to change the name and save them.
Brett- The EN workouts aren't under the custom tag despite the wiki instructions. Just search the TR workouts and they come up and you can use them. Of course you can also modify them by creating a custom workout.
I love the no wheel rear interface trainers like the Lemond or the new Cyclops Silencer. I am actually picking up the new silencer today and am anxious to try it. In the last year I likely rode the Lemond over 300 hours!
I like not having to worry about a consistent tension on the rear wheel as well as frying a perfectly good tire from the interface to the trainer.
I had a KK and it was ok but nothing like the true road feel of the Lemond. I also had a KK rock n' Roll but did not like the wobble of it. Almost reminded me of the old Softride beam bikes. You cant get any power because it is too flexing.
Others will say the Kickr but personally I hated it. A big PIA to set up and the wattage was ALWAYS wrong compared to my SRM power meter.
I can likely get you a pretty good deal on a Cyclops if you are interested in any of them. Let me know. I would be glad to help you or anyone else if they are interested. I have a friend in Atlanta who owns a bike shop.
YM.... I have used 4 different trainers with TR..... They all just work.... That is how good TR is!
You should probably start a trainer thread to discuss them....
Currently we have a LeMond and Computrainer in the house... The LeMond is awesome but loud....
@ Ray.... That new Cycleops Silencer sounds interesting ... Would like to hear your thoughts after a few rides... Also like to hear more about why you didnt like the kickr??? I really like our Lemond and the no rear wheel direct drive.... As long as one has a PM on the bike maybe that new Silencer is the way to go over the Kickr...
here is a deal on the old Lemond (non11speed) pretty good price from Competitive Cyclist and free shipping. I buy ALOT from them and they are awesome customer service wise.
I made a custom workout on TR, the Saturday workout but with longer zone 3 at the end. How come I cannot find the workout in TR after I published it. Anyone done this before?
I just went to Resources and followed the link to request access to TR OutSeason rides. When I submitted the request, it told me I was not an EN member - hopefully this is just a hiccup. THanks.

I just got access to EN workouts on TR yesterday and I can't seem to find any of them. I've tried under the custom tab and just searching in Workouts...nothing. Where are they hiding?

I use 3 second just like I do on my SRM. Too many spikes otherwise.
Here's what they say on TR

Hello all, the plan this winter / Trainer Road
I need your advise on the purchase of a trainer. Was looking at kurk kenetic /not sure on which one.
FYI...purchased a new bike, Orbea/Ordu /Di2, figured out the correct seat. Still deciding on what power and wheels to purchase
Would love your input on the trainer.
thanks,
Yvette
