I contacted TR about adding me to the Endurance Nation team so I could get the workouts and this was their response.
We're actually not in charge of adding members to the EN team. You may want to confirm with EN that you're a member.
Once you're sure you're a member, you should have access to the EN workouts in your app by clicking the "Refresh Workouts" button in the Info tab. After you do that, you'll be able to search for EN workouts under the Workouts tab under the TrainerRoad sub tab.
Can someone from Endurance Nation make sure we are added. Thanks! I emailed EN Support also but just wanted to share with everyone.
I am 99% sure it is operator error, but I am getting really frustrated... Have read thru the forum - and while I am sure it is something very simple, I have run out of ideas (and patience!)
I've been approved for TR (yes, I am on the list and have found WRF on the list of EN teammates). I have synched my power meter and HR strap, as well as cadence function. ANT Stick is plugged in. Numbers appear on the Garmin 500 and on the TR Devices screen. I have gone to "INFO" and Resynched Workouts. Resynched Career also. And for the life of me, I cannot find the EN workouts!
@Woody are you looking for the workouts under trainer road? They are not under the Custom tab. If you begin typing 2014 os wk the workouts should populate. I pretty sure I can help you get going if it doesn't work. My email is Raybrown@mindspring.com
Question about TR for you guys and my apologies if this has been asked already: How are you handling the 25 minute warm up? I am using a CompuTrainer for additional info. The 2 TR OS work outs I have done start with a 12 minute ERG ride in Z1. Do you do your 5 minute easy/3 minute stand/2 minute easy during this part, then restart TR for the 12 minute Z3 + 3 minute easy and put the CompuTrainer in slope mode? Thanks.
Ken, I simply follow the TR workout as written, which means I do not do the "standard" 25 minute bike warmup. The workouts as written are consistent with the length of a given day's workout (at least for the designated OS workouts). Also, I'm on a powerbeam pro and, like the computrainer, TR controls the watts in erg mode, so I do not switch to slope mode.
I'm not using a computrainer, but I go into workout creator and just pop in the EN warmup instead of the 12 min generic thing and save it as a custom workout. I started the OS just doing a makeshift 12 min warmup, but found I was getting stronger as the ride went on and that I would benefit from a longer warmup.
Yeah, I warm up for 18-20 min on my computrainer, including the calibration ("roll down"?) which I do near the end of that time. I have created (in the TR Workout Creator) 4 generic OS workouts, Tues (FTP intervals), Thurs (VO2 intervals), Sat (FTP + Steady State work), and 5x5 (for 110% intervals).
I like a longish, not too difficult warm up, so I gradually increase the resistance from 25% of FTP to 60% for 10 min, then do three "spin ups" for 45 sec at or slightly above FTP, then another 5 minutes from 50 >> 67%.
Each week, I modify the interval to the prescribed number/length, and re-save them. Takes about 2 minutes to do all three. Also, since I'm making my own workouts, I don't keep the resistance constant thru each interval. TR allows you to say, start @ 97% and end @ 100% of FTP, or vice versa, so I play with that for a little variety. You can also put in little motivational messages to play at specific times within the intervals.
I was curous as to why the workouts were created with only a 12 minute warmup. Like Rachel I find I get stronger later in the ride and can hit the target much better. @Al that's a good idea for a bunch of generic workouts that you can edit for each week.
Maybe I'm crazy or foolish, but I always do the official 25 minute EN warmup before starting the actual workout, which will have another 10-15 minutes of warmup. Yes, i'm getting a bit more time in warmup than likely needed, but it does help get my head in the right place. "Official EN warmup" breakdown as follows: The first bit of the warmup is the early suck where i'm just trying to get the legs moving, the 3' of big gear standup gets the HR (and sweat rate) up, brief rest, then the 12' of sweet spot that prepares me for the workout ahead.
@Steve I do the exact same thing. I think the warm-ups in TR are way too short anyway and I just like to spin for the first ten minutes anyway @ 50% or so. And .a good way to get your time on the bike up! I know I know junk time but so what
I have to give a huge thanks to Alex, Nate and Reid. They have worked overtime getting me up and running on TR. I won't pretend to understand what the issue was, but they wouldn't quit until they resolved it. I am looking forward to doing my OW rides with TR.
By any chance, will the get faster workouts be created/added for the team, or should I start building them in custom creator (and then you can have them published to the team)
Please help. I submitted the request to access EN workouts through Trainer Road a couple of months ago. As I was in a Bike Focus, I created each of my workouts in Trainer Road as these are not loaded. Now that I am in the OS, I would like to use the EN workouts but can't seem to find them. I followed the steps as outlined in the Wiki. Clicked on Custom tab, hit the "refresh' It only ever loads 4 of the OS workouts for me. When I access the workouts online through trainer road I can see all OS workouts. Can anyone help me with this? I even tried logging out and then back in to refresh the workouts without success.
Thanks Nate. The first page of the Wiki directs us to search in the "Custom" tab for EN workouts. Looked under Trainer Road and found them. Thanks for your help.
OK, i did my first wo with TR and got it... question is who loads in the EN workouts? the one i did today, OS Sat Wk4 ADV, had the wrong rest intervals for the 2 FTP intervals, i did as written in plan(4) not as shown in TR(3), is there anyway to edit these?
is there a person we can have check all for accuracy against the training plans???
kind of defeats the purpose when you aren't following the lines... btw, caused me to work harder and nail the top of my Z3 intervals!
is there a person we can have check all for accuracy against the training plans???
It really sounds like you just volunteered. Thanks dude!
FWIW, I just do the workouts in TR and never actually check them against what the workout is "supposed" to be. Presuming they seem reasonable. I agree that the duration of the rest intervals is important, but just "getting the work done" is more important in my opinion... I think volunteers were used to build all of those workouts in TR. So would be great if you volunteered to check all of them.
ANYONE USING TR WITH A CYCLEOPS POWER BEAM PRO and A QUARQ??
This is my current setup. I'm using the cycleops bower beam because I like that it adjusts the tension to my wheel automatically. I'm using the Quarq because there is a difference in power readings between the 2 powermeters (the cycleops and quarq) and have been using the quarq throughout my OS and plan to use it training/racing outside.
Here's the problem: it seems that TR is getting ANT signals from both PM's and it is adjusting the tension on my wheel to varying degrees. In other words, they are both fighting for control of TR.
Does anyone else have a similar setup or know I of a fix for this?
Brad - my understanding is that you should have TR paired with the Powerbeam as the power source, and the Quarq paired as the cadence sensor. That way, TR will only pick up and adjust based on the Powerbeam. If you do not want to use the Quarq as a cadence sensor, you can not pair it with TR at all, and there will be no chance of interference. I hope this helps.

@John- just so I understand correctly: Should I pair the powerbeam as a "powermeter" or as "power beam pro"? And if I pair the Quarq as a cadence sensor only, will I still get power numbers from it?
@Brad in the Profile section tell TR you are using a power meter/virtual power. Then select PowerBeam Pro under the Devices Tab. If you don't want TR control the trainer turn off Erg mode. I am using it (based on your recommendation) with an SRM and don't have any problems. Let me know if this doesn't work. I will play with mine tomorrow early to see. Try this below too!
@Ray - maybe it's the ERG mode that's throwing it off. I think I have it setup as you've described otherwise, I'll try it. So you got the powerbeam? What do you think?
@Brad I have only used it once. I am so used to the Lemond I didn't want to mess up any of my workouts pretest with using it. I am going to play with it starting tomorrow.
I did find the IMLP course on the Cycleops virtual site!

EDITED - I just saw the response above from Ray with the reference to the TR site and how to check the box to use either your Powerbeam or Quarq to guide the ERG mode. Based on that, I'm deleting my response, which was not 100% accurate.
Hoping for some help- I have followed the instructions on how to access EN workouts on trainer road, but I keep getting an error message that says something like "my request has been denied...check with someone at EN if you feel like this is a mistake" Can anyone be helpful with this? I'm an active paying EN member and have a Trainer Road account... In the meantime, I've been creating the workouts manually, but would REALLY like to be able to use the feature of being an EN member... Thanks!
Hi Nikki. Have you requested to be added as a member of the EN team on Trainer Road? There is a "Teams" tab at the top of the website. You can search the teams and find Endurance Nation. When you click on the EN link it says that it's a closed team and offers you an option to join the team. Once you ask to be added to the team it may take a day or two. Once you are added to the team you will be able to access the EN workouts.

I guess I will have at the advanced plan. Who do I report discrepancies to In order to get them fixed?
