I see you are aiming for Mt Tremblant for the full IM. I'll be sure to tell you where the hairy spots are, the 1/2 is the same bike/run course, just 2 loops.
I'm a busy guy, but have a job that gives me extra training time more than most. (work from home and no kids!) Amazing how much time you have extra when you don't have to commute 30 mnutes across town and have to shower and get dressed in the morning.
I let me first cut at the membership die, and after doing some reading, I like the whole "be told what to do, do the work, get the results" mentality that I think I'm going to get here...
Hey all. Trial member at this time. Planning on doing the great Floridian in October this year. It will be my first Ultra distance. I have done triathlons off and on over the past 7 years. (sprints mostly and 1 oly). I've always prided myself on accomplishing what I set out to do. I've always said that I would do an ironman by the time I'm forty. I figured at 37 it's time!!!!!!! Finished grad school, got married, have 4 awesome step children and a 17 month old. (I thought tri's were tough) lol. Hopefully some team members will be at the great Floridian. I appreciate any tips and support!!!!!
Hi fellow EN peeps! I’m Mike Joyner from upstate New York.I live just north of the town of McGraw roughly 7 miles east of Cortland.
I'm an EN newbie, just coming back into the sport from a 15 year hiatus. In my 30’s I got in to it as an age grouper, occasionally placing if it was small enough race. Back then I was more into biking, and got more serious about running. I trained very little for the swim. I did run in 9 marathons with a 3:26 PR, and finished Firm Man 70.3 in 1994 in 6:02. I was fairly light back then at 152-155 (5’10”).
Since then I got remarried, became part owner in a technology company, bought a bunch of land and built a log home in the woods. Pretty big into turkey hunting, authored a couple books, and was very involved with the NWTF for 9 years. Needless to say, I was side tracked in a bunch of directions. I got back in to running a little bit here and there, but ended up gaining a lot of weight, and peaked at 238 in 2009. My profession as an engineer helps pay for all this stuff, but has me in a chair most of the day. Currently back down to 194, and running up to 12 miles.
‘A’ race this year is Ironman Syracuse (70.3), hoping to finish 6-6:30, and finish well, per the EN mantra. I have several shorter tri’s and a few half marathons leading up to June/July. We’ll evaluate the remainder of the year after HIM Syracuse. May consider a full ironman after that.
My issues (good/bad):
Diet – having to train and lose a significant amount of weight (>25 lbs) I do better on low carb diets, which leaves me lacking in the gas tank.
Swim – actually training for this now, but still need to get a good basic form happening.
Bike – Will be better once I lug around a smaller butt. Doing ok with jumping to higher cadence (185-190). I live 5 miles from the bike course for my ‘A’ race, looking forward to training on it .
Run – need to continue without calf pulls (so far so good), hoping to increase mileage without too much complaint from joints. Overly cautious due to being overweight. Just starting to drop pace/time with fitness. Gradually working in a little speed work as weight drops.
Right now, doing 8 weeks OS, and then switching to HIM beginner plan. So far, I am very much liking it! J
name is James and from Anaheim, CA. Im here as a trial members and checking things out. My "A" race for this year will be IM Lake Stevens 70.3 in July. I'm hoping to finish around 6.5hrs or better and I'm looking for all the help in my training to get there. Been doing triathlon and half marathons since 2007, and have been self coached.
Checking out the "Nation", got my schedule filled out with a few Xterra an olympic and a half this year. This will be my first year back in tris in over 5 years. Really missed the family atomsphere at races and hope to be part of the EN family. So how does everyone like it with EN??
James - for an on-line community, this is great. Every resource you can imagine is here. From training guidance, to race reports, to even discounts on gear - we've got it. Not to mention the moral support in the training groups organized around major races. Welcome!
Well hello! I am Remi, from Norway .. Joined Endurance Nation, Because I need a solid training plan .. My plan this year is two get a black t-shirt that Norseman Extreme Triathlon here in Norway .. Here is a youtube video, if you want to see .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3cr5lgXRn8 I have only participated in the olympic distance before, but done in a lot of running and biking .. So to reach my goal, I hope Endurance Nation can help me! And sorry for bad english, as said I'm from Norway .. : D
Remi - By all reports, Norseman may be the world's most extreme Ironman. I'm sure Endurance Nation will prepare you well for this, I just hope they will let you run up the mountain!
Al - Yep, thats what they say. This year Norseman will celebrate their 10th anniversary, so there will be 250 athletes Saturday and 250 athletes sunday. Sunday is the day the Pro's are Starting. So I`m happy to start saturday! Now i need a plan, and stick to it!
My name is Kortney, from Maryland and I just joined the Team! I've been working on the last part of the Outseason plan, and have just started the 12-week training plan for Eagleman in June. I'm hoping to finish sub 5:30:00 this year after a 5:40:00 finish last year in my first 70.3 (Eagleman as well - I like to stay local! ) Trying to balance two kids and running my own business with training is not easy, so that's my biggest hurdle with getting all the WORK in!
Glad to be here! Who else is doing Eagleman? Anyone else near Gaithersburg, MD?
New member to EN and looking forward to learning everything i can. Signed up for IM Florida this year, my first full IM - I have only one purpose between now and November - beat 11:44 - thanks to Shawn Thompson (my buddy who put out the challange at me) for posting that in 2011. Been out of action for over 13 years in the tri world and getting back into it again and fast. Hope to talk with all of you soon.

Mike - Welcome to the Team. Shawn didn't steer you wrong when he pointed you to Endurance Nation. If you haven't started reading through the wiki, I would highly recommend you do so. There is a TON of great info in there.
Hi Everyone. Just checking out the inside of EN after having done the out season plan over the past several months. I am impressed by the experience and quality of advice being dished out here in the forums. I have no time goals at this point and just want to successfully complete my journey across the finish line of IM New York in August. Another Mike
Just wanted to stop by and say hi, I've been doing the fast camp plan for the last couple weeks and loved what I saw! So here I am to get the full experience and I'm positiive benefit of Endurance Nation.
A little about me...I was never athletic growing up, overweight, gained more when I started working an office job. Got into decent shape about 4 years ago but never considered myself athletic. Last year joined a running club...couldnt run a full mile...and got hooked on running and now looking for my next challenge the triathlon! I am completely new to triathlon, just the last two weeks been following the fast camp plan. There is a local Sprint traithlon in town July 28th that I would love to participate in, and one earlier, June 23, I am debating going to to get my feet wet. I would really like to do the 70.3 Ironman Texas at the end of October. Never had swimming lessons so thats been my biggest challenge, have to say the swim guide has REALLY helped me out.
I'm competitive and want to do well, and it seems like this group of athletes and this training style will help me get there. I can use all the help I can get and am excited to dig into the resources here!
Welcome aboard! Be sure to ask us and the team any questions you have about EN, how we work, etc, as well as any training and racing questions you have!
Have been doing fastcamp and absolutely love it! Thought I would stop by to check out the full endurance nation experience!
A little about me... Based on my build I have never been accused of being an endurance athlete! At this point I am the slow and steady kindda guy. I am in training for my 3rd ironman race. Since I am not fast, I skipped the short distance triathons and jumped right in to the 140.6 distance... crazy I know!
I look forward to learning from both the coaches and the team!
You are not alone in the 'I'm slow' catagory and as to jumping into big things, I'm with you there too. 8 years ago at 46 I ran my first race of any length in my entire life - It was a marathon. A tough, hilly marathon at that. I knew I was hooked as I crossed the finish line and I'm still going......
This is a great group of smart, tallented peeps - your going to love it here.
I am close to completing Fast Camp and am looking forward to continuing my progress with Team EN. I am doing IM Canada at the end of August and a half iron race in June. Looking forward to checking out what Tema EN has to offer!
Welcome! Nice to see another Albertan here. I used to live in Calgary, but I live in the Los Angeles area now. You're a much better person than I am for tolerating the weather.
I don't know about the better person part... you just take what you get. I'd love to move somewhere warmer, perhaps in 25 years when we retire. I have only been able to get out for one outdoor ride so far this year, and forecasted rain for my ride this afternoon is not making me feel like bundling up to get out there, that to me is the biggest downside! I did Coeur d'Alene 2010 and was only able to get in 8 rides outside before race day! Should be able to improve on that for IMC this year. Thanks for the welcome!
The trial membership is almost up (less than 24 hours) and unfortunately, at this present time, it does not look like I will continue my membership. Thanks for the warm welcome! Honestly, I absolutely love Endurance Nation and will recommend to anyone doing triathlons. The coaches and their philosophy are fantastic! I have been doing FastCamp for the past seven weeks and love it! On the down side, for me, it would have been nice to see at least a portion of a season plan, but hey.
Like I mentioned, FastCamp has been great! Unfortunately the only test I can perform this week is the swim test. I strained my calf muscle (hopefully that is all that it is) accelerating during my run on Saturday... going to see sports med doc on Thursday... Time for a swim and hopefully bike focus till the pain is gone. Hope it isn't too bad, I have Ironman Louisville at the end of August!
Again, thanks for the warm welcome! Good luck in your training and racing. Hopefully I will be back as a full fledge member in the very near future!
Just wanted to take a moment of your time to say hi and introduce myself.
My name is David Walters. I am looking to join team EN to help me be competitive in my AG in HIMs and eventually complete an IM in 2013. In adddition, I am in dire need of help in managing my training schedule. I have heard a lot of great things so I hope I am in the right place.
A little about myself as a person and an athlete... I am a father of three (all under three years) and live just west of Chicago. I ran X-country and track in college at DePaul which gets me in to LOTs of trouble when training!! To say I could go without running is an understatement... but I discovered a LOVE for triathlons through cycling and swimming.
While I've done triathlons here and there, my first HIM was steelhead in 2011. Unfortunately they cancelled the swim, but I still finished in under 4:09. Let's just say it was not the BEST paced race.
I'm just finishing Fast Camp and really agree with the EN philosophy of intensity over volume. I used the same approach for marathon training and had great success with the Run Less, Run Faster training program. Now I am making the transition to tris. First up is the CapTex Oly on Memorial Day in Austin, TX followed by IMLou in August. Should be a fun summer and I look forward to training and racing with Team EN.
@David: welcome aboard! We have a very strong presence in the Chicago/IL/WI area. Also, check out my training camp in the IMWI course in July, free to members.
@Jeremy: welcome aboard! We always have a big squad at IMLou and we have a long history with the event. See my training camp on the course in July, free to members!
@Shawn: welcome! tons of EN athletes have raced IMAZ over the years. Be sure to check out their race reports in the Race Reports forum. The team has a great deal of knowledge about how to execute this race.
I started my 5 day trial today, and am so far very excited about the EN philosophy.
I'm doing IMLP in 10 weeks, and am excited about incorporating the EN way of doing things into the remainder of my training. I was signed up for IMLP last year as well, but had a bike crash on the IMLP course last May. I had made the turnaround in Ausable Forks, and then shortly thereafter my front tire dropped into a crack in the road. Before I knew what had happened, I was laying in the road. Broke my collar bone pretty bad, a six inch metal plate and nine screws later the two ends were reattached. That put an end to my LP plans for 2011, so I figured try, try again. I'm going up to ride the course in two weeks, and I'll be giving the cracks all the respect they deserve!!!

Thanks Rich (again)
Can you load the plan you had done up for me on my profile?
Thanks again!
