Hi everyone. I'm Anthony Ross and new to EN as well. I just finished my 2nd year of tris and looking forward to next year as a break though year for me in HIM distance. I've been self-coached and think EN could be the perfect fit for me. I'm excited about using the combind knowledge of the coaches all all you guys and I know we will all get better/ faster because of it!
I'm a new trial member from Skokie, IL. I'm 67 and just finished my 3rd season, 70.3, international, and sprint distances. My goal is to stay injury free and do my first full iron distance at age 70.
Hi. I'm new and in Fremont, CA (gateway to Milipitas) in the SF bay area. I've been racing for several years, always self coached. Completed full Vineman in 2011. I'm going to be racing IM Lake Tahoe next year and other than hoping to survive at altitude I am looking to improve. The idea of using my available training time more effectively is what got me in and I'm looking forward to learning more about the team and how things work here.
I'm new to EN and very excited about joining the team. From what i have seen so far, this is a very special community of athletes.
I heard about EN through John Withrow and raced for his charity Team ReserveAid at IMNYC this summer.
What started out as a way to shed a few extra pounds I'd picked up since college turned into my first sprint tri back in Sept 2010. I'm pretty sure i invented a few strokes during that swim -- the doggy-side-paddle comes to mind -- to make it to T1. From there, my interest in the sport took off and I completed the Antwerp 70.3 last summer and IMTX this May - I finished just a few hours behind coach P.
So far, I've used the free training plans at beginnertriathlete.com and another plan in Don Fink's IronFit book. I am completely lost in my training if I don't have a daily plan to wake up for and it's hard for me to repeat the same plan twice, so I'm really looking forward to the variety offered by EN. I also just got a power meter and can't wait to incorporate that into my training.
Hey Gang, Greetings from Russia, where it was nearly freezing this morning when I started my run. My three years here in Moscow will wrap up next summer, when I'll return to the U.S. for a nice long break leading into Challenge Penticton in August. Following a slow but steady IMCDA in 2010, when the goal was simply to finish, I'm hoping for a little faster this time around.
I should be in Twin Cities most of July and August, hope to meet up with the EN crowd then, and maybe hop into a few tune up races-any recommendations, MN crew?
Greetings from Wichita, KS!! Checking out EN and getting excited about 2013!
Only have 3 years of triathlon experience under my belt but have been away for a few years. Last race was Austin 70.3 half iron in Fall of 2010. Last few years I've tried (albeit haphazardly and half-heartedly) focusing on running --- doing several races each year, both road and trail -- mostly 10 milers and half marathon distance. I'm pokey slow and really hoping my committing to EN and triathlon again will give me the PUSH and accountability I need to get back into the swing of things .. and beyond!
This year's highlight was taking on the Pikes Peak Ascent half marathon. Crazy training and a fun day, but I came up short, getting turned around and having to walk my butt back down after 8 miles. Ugh. So ... 2013 is redemption time!! I think I'm convinced that getting back into triathlon, especially the biking, will help with both endurance and leg strength needed to successfully get up Pikes Peak in '13!! I've got my sights set on an oly tri in May and a half Iron distance for August ... or September. Will fill out things with a few half marathons and some trail runs for FUN!!
Daunting notion to think about climbing back on the bike and back into the pool. But ... here we go!!!!
Hello all. I'm Delton and just joined Endurance Nation for a trial membership. Signed up for Ironman Florida last weekend and really excited about getting back into triathlon training. My last race was Florida 70.3 in May 2011 so it's been a while. However, I've spent that time retooling my running form and focusing on getting faster on the run. Looking forward to getting started on the journey and getting oriented to EN!
I live in Mobile, Alabama and am in the U.S. Coast Guard. I have been in and out of triathlon for the last 10 years and am back for good now. I am married with two small boys. I am really looking to get more serious about triathlon and that is how I ended up here. I recently copmpleted my first IM at IMFL. It was a great experience and my time was 13'33''. I saw a lot of EN team members there and was impressed by their times, comraderie, and professional appearance. I have been listening to the podcasts for the last year as part of my race executuon stradegy. It worked very well, but I know I can do better. I'll be racing IM Lake Tahoe this year. I'd like to qualify for Kona sometime in the future.
Just joined EN. Excited to see how I can improve my fitness and finish strong at IM Canada in 2013. Did IM CDA in 2011 as a self coached athlete and did ok. Looking for ways to help me get stronger. Definitely interested in hearing from the larger EN athletes as I am 6ft 222 pounds.
Just joined EN as a trial member but plan on becoming a member when trial is done. Looking forward to training with intensity in mind because have done a lot of long slow miles over the years. Now I have 3 kids and full time job so don't have time for long rides. I do 100% of my riding on my computrainer for safety and time constraints.
I am signed up to race Ironman Los Cabos in March with my Dad who will be 70 next year and I will be 40!!! We both want to qualify and race Kona together. Look forward to meeting some of you.
Hello ENers, It is exciting to get started. I'm new to EN but have been in tri land for about 4.5 years and am excited about a better way to get things done. Personally I've completed three fulls and a bunch of halves and think EN can help me move on to that next level out in the Pacific ocean if you know what I mean.
Frank
Ps. Is there some name or acronym used to refer the EN group at large?
I am another new member and excited to see what this is all about. I have been doing tri's off and on for awhile and completed my first Half in 2011 (the Big Kahuna in Santa Cruz). I liked the event but blew up on the run and was reduced to the dead man's shuffle for the last 2 miles. As an ex-collegiate swimmer and competitive by nature this was not the way I wanted to perform. I have been self coached to this point and would like to see what I can do after coaching from someone who knows what they are doing. I will be doing IM Lake Tahoe in 2014 with the utlimate goal of qualifying for Kona. Plus, I really like the idea of being part of a team.
Looking forward to training with those of you in the Sac area.
I just joined as a trial member as well and plan on becoming a member when the trial is complete. I am fairly new to triathlon ( year and half) but have done a few longer races and come from a running background. I am really looking forward to having some guidance and coaching.
I am registered for Ironman Los Cabos in March as well and Raleigh 70.3 in June. I am looking forward to learning more about the EN team!
Hi Christy, welcome to the Haus. You will find so much information here, but don't worry, pick and choose your immediate need, the rest will still be there....
Greetings from newly-electrified North Jersey! 14 days without power, 15 without phone/internet/cable. It's all back now so we can get back to normality. Some fun, eh?
Just joined off the trial membership. I have finished (I hesitate to say "competed in") 3 of 4 HIM entered (2xRI, 1xPoconos), and one DNF (RI 2009) due to a stress fracture, plus a few Olys and sprints. For reasons best explained by George Mallory ("Why do you want to climb Everest?" "Because it's there.") I have decided to tackle a full Ironman - target race is Mont Tremblant in August. I know it's going to hurt. A lot.
I'm looking forward to the EN training - the emphasis on intervals and power makes a lot of sense to me. Long hours and heart rate-based training haven't done much to enhance my performance. I am also happy to cut back on swimming. I'm usually one of the first out of the water, whereupon I proceed steadily backwards through the pack for the remainder of the race. Gotta work more on the biking and the running.
I just joined EN via the trial program and I'm very excited to get started - again. I have completed a few sprints over the years and had plans 2 years ago to move up the food chain but got a shoulder injury that sidelined me for some time and I just found my compass to head in the right direction.
I'm planning on working my way through this coming year with a half marathon in march, then a sprint, olympic and finishing at Augusta 70.3 in the fall.
I have just hooked myself up to a trial membership with EN. I first heard about EN in searching through Ironman podcasts! I have been a Marathon runner for a few years, but have now converted to triathlons. I have moved to the Houston heat from the London cold, so training outside (even at this time of year) isn't an issue for me! I'm looking forward to taking part in the Texas Ironman in May 2013!
I just started doing triathlons in Feb of 2012 and did my first Half Ironman in Sept in the Poconos. Had a great time and am now hooked. I'm signed up for Eagleman and Timberman for 2013 and I'm looking forward to chatting and learning from all of you!
Hi everyone! I am new to EN as well....working on qualifying for Kona. Did my first triathlon on 9/11/2011-The Big Kahuna in Santa Cruz, Ca. This was an amazing experience for me since I had never participated in a triathlon... ever! I finished 13th for my age group. I know I can do better with some coaching. Looking forward to being part of EN!
Hi everyone... Trying out the trial membership with plans to become a team member! Completed IMLP this past July. Looking to get on the right program so I can hit my next IM in 2014. Why not 2013? Running into some work complications that are taking up precious training time...
Hello everyone! I am new to EN as a trial member. Joined after IMFL, my first IM, and decided that I needed to try a different approach to training.
I am 5 years into triathlon, 1 IM, multiple sprints, and 4 half iron's under my belt. I come from a running background, but am a cyclist by power and design. I LOVE THE BIKE!
My friend, Pat Ward, has referred me to the group and based on the ROI he has seen... there is no doubt to me that WORK WORKS. I am ready to unleash this beast with a 2013 season of an A-Race half Iron in August, then in 2014 when I go back to 140.6 at IM WI.
Hi all My name is Turby Wright (also known as Mr. Carol DeFazio for those of you who know her). I've been a training plan athlete for a while and am looking forward to interacting with you all as a member! I'm doing Lake Placid this year as my 2nd full Ironman. Started doing triathlon about 8 years ago (I'm 58) after 35 years of distance running.Anxious to get faster with your help.
Hi Turby! I met you and Carol at my first Sandy Hooker swim in the Navesink last Apirl/May. I just started my OS training plan (week 3) and love the community here so far. Welcome and looking forward to talking to you and Carol more on here.
Hi I'm Cathleen, I have completed IM Kentucky 2012 in a disappointing time. In 2013 IM AZ is scheduled. I just want to tap into what I know is inside me as an athlete. I need to work hard and get my confidence back. I have some friends already on EN so I am happy to be back with them as team members.
Hi Team, I just joined your group in hopes of getting help for my upcoming Ironman Lke Placid.. I am from hot, flat South Georgia, so I don't know what I was thinking when I picked Placid! I have completed Ironman Kentucky twice and Ironman Florida once, just back of the pack age grouper. My Friend, Greg Charbeneau, recommended this plan and when I checked out some of the videos I was impressed! I know I need help to pull this one off, and I think I found the right place. Looking forward to the training. Jodi
Jodi - Welcome! Greg did not steer you wrong. I hope you are ready to learn and work -- cause we've got plenty of both available.
I am just a couple of hours up the road in Warner Robins. If and when you ever find yourself up my way, please drop me a note. I very occasionally travel to Moody so I will do the same.
Hi all...this will be my second year in tri. Did short course stuff last season and am completely addicted. Short courses and a HIM in '13. I'm totally impressed with EN... Looking forward to the new training style and a lot of sweat. A podium wouldn't hurt either....
Hi all...Trish here...new to EN, but not tri's. Looking to kick my own arse on my way to reaching my potential at IMAZ 2013, IM number 4 for me. Geeked about all the resources here and having a clear path to follow to success! Excited to be training with a lot of friends that are new to EN too, and meeting new folks.
Welcome aboard! This is a great time of year to join. See the activity in the November OutSeason forum, as that will be duplicated by you and your peers in the January OutSeason
Hi, I'm Gene and I'm new to EN. I haven't done any type of tri since 09. Myfriend has this great idea to do IM Cour d'Alene so here I am ready for a crash course on the full IM and lots of pain.
