  • I just wanted to introduce myself quickly. I first got involved in sprint and olympic tris when I was in college. Time and resources have kept me out of the loop for the last few years, but I completed my first half at Timberman this summer. I had a great experience and, after listening to my sister (Carly, also on EN) touting the EN motto, I decided to join up. Looking to do a couple more halfs this season, learn how to bike with power and possibly gear up for IMLP 2013.

  • Hey everyone!

Greetings from Pasadena, CA. I was introduced to EN through the Pasadena Tri Club, of which I'm also a member. I started off in triathlon during my last year of college at Caltech, after spending four years as a collegiate fencer and dabbling around with cycling and running in my spare time. I've had a pretty good first tri season, finishing a handful sprint/oly distances and getting on the AG podium a few times.

Now that I've graduated, I'm hoping to put a little more time and focus into my training. I seem to be pretty bad at managing my season and race planning, and I'm looking forward to getting some great advice here! image
  • Hi all,

I was an EN member in 2009-2010 and loved it! I quit competing for a year or so to take a mental and physical break but I'm back in now and gearing up for IMTX. I'm looking forward to getting to know many of you!
  •  Hello,

Also a previous member from 2010.  Looking to get a little faster and make it to Kona (next year?).  IMSG and IMLP on the schedule for 2012.

    Jeremy

  • Checking out EN on trial membership; completed 3 IMs to date; next is IM Canada Aug '12; looking to improve race execution; at 64yrs old, I'm well on my way to outliving my competition!
  • Hi Everybody,

I just joined EN and am excited to be on the team.   I learned of EN through several members of my local tri club and have used the half IM plan and outseason plan sporadically for the past two years.  Have done four half's and am gearing up to do my first IM (Florida) in 2012.  Looking forward to contributing to the team!

  • @Anson, great to have you here! There'll be more than enough local to you rides and epic sessions to play in…plus you can keep Coach Rich honest with his training! Welcome!

@Kristen, great to have you back!

@Jeremy, kona or bust baby…hope you can make our LP camp…

@Martin, great to chat today! I hope you decide to stick around, I think you have a lot in common with some of the legends on the Team!

@Doug, welcome. Be sure to spy in on the IMFL group so you can see what they are up to in the coming weeks!
  • Hi, I'm here to checkout EN and see if it's for me. I'm just ending my second triathlon season. Completed Vineman IM this past July. I've done 6 sprints and 2 Oly's over the last two seasons. I'm looking to improve myself as much as I can this next season.

I've been self coached up till now.
  • Enrique - if you are interested in learning to coach yourself better, in learning, and certainly in getting faster + you aren't allergic to hard work, then welcome home!

    EN rocks!
  • Hello from Northern Virginia, long time EN podcast listener, 1st time trial member. I have a multitude of running events (5ks up to 50 milers) , 1 half (Wildflower 2010) and 1 full (Vineman 2010) under my belt. On the hook for IMCDA 2012. I've drank the EN cool-aid and am planning on coming on board for the next season. Looking forward to meeting everyone and making some gains in the basement during the upcoming winter.

  • Hi,

I just joined EN. My goal is to complete my first Ironman at IMAZ 2012. Very excited to start this journey!!

    -Michelle
  • Hi and welcome Michelle image I am also doing my first IM this coming season (IM Australia). Good luck and remember to have fun.

    Cheers
    Peter
  • Welcome, Michelle.  We're in the same boat - just started the OS and doing IMFL in 2012.  Work hard!

  • New team member here!

    Andi Dunlop, F40-44 AG

Live in Alpharetta, GA (North Atlanta)

Did my first tri 13 years ago; done all distances from sprint to IM.  I took time off from burn out, then to get a masters degree, and then because of a heavy workload.  Throw in the occasional injury (including an ACL rupture/reconstruct in June 09 from Taekwondo - my other fun activity that I don't do when tri training) and I've been an active triathlete for about 7 seasons total.  I'm the only one of my original friends/tri group still "tri-ing" 13 years later!

Goals for 2012: Focus on 70.3... qualify at Augusta 70.3? hee hee A little early to predict.  Mostly have fun and place in the old lady/masters division.

I'm in week 2 of the advanced outseason plan.

I'm definitely drinking the kool-aid.  Love it here.

    Andi

  • Andi, welcome and great to have you!!!
  • Michelle...welcome to the team!!  Also, just a tip:  unless you have another avenue of getting into IM Arizona (such as volunteering), make sure you sign up early.  One of my masters teammates tried to sign up last year (for this coming 2011 race) and said it sold out in less than 5 minutes after they opened general registration!

  • Thanks everyone!! Looking forward to comparing notes with everyone, especially those doing the end of the year IMs.

@Mac -- thanks for the tip. I'm volunteering at IMAZ next month and plan to be first in the "volunteer" line to sign up!!
  • Hi EN!

Official new member here - Julie - can't wait to get started in the OS next week!  Long-time triathlete (15 years??) from East Bay in CA... started multi-sport as a duathlete in the Kenny Souza days (then known as a biathlete!!)  I enjoy all distances; they all are equally hard with unique challenges.  IM continues to be my real enigma, though.

Long-time EN lurker that realized it was for me when I read a perfectly timed email from Rich 2 days after returning from a disappointing IM Switzerland this year that described my race and the run mile 8 meltdown to a 't'!  2012 will include Boston marathon, various other local runs, Oly & 1/2 triathlons (probably Big Kahuna), hopefully AG Nationals, and IM Arizona.

Looking forward to starting OS, power training (pending spousal approval on an early xmas present!), and getting to know other team members!

    Julie

  • Hey Julie! I remember the Coors Light Series with Kenny Souza! I was at the Coors Light Nationals back in 1992 in Scottsdale when I met him. Little guy - but lighting fast!

    Welcome to the Team!
    Joe
  •  Hello,

I was on the team last year for what I thought to be my one and only Ironamn distance in Texas. I have decided to do it again based on my previous results. I want to race it this time instead of having thoughts of just completing it. Sooo I'm back to do it again!

  • Looking forward to joining the EN Team. I self coached myself through my first full year of triathlons, have done a few sprints here and there through the years. Kids, full time job kept me from totally focusing. Now that my boys are off to college I spent more time training completed my first 70.3. A friend introduced me to EN he has had great success. Need the coaching and team support EN offers which I am sure will lead to better success and great camaraderie.

  • Hi,

New member here!  I'm also in the East Bay in California.  42 years old.  I've been running since 2007 after I got a reality check about my bad health.  Then started to do triathons in 2010.  I'm lovin' it.

I've decided to do my next year a little different than the last two.  I self-coached myself in my first two tri seasons by using a Joe Friel book for the first year and Beginner Tri plans for the second.  In my first year, I did 6 sprint tri's and in my second I did the Full Vineman and a couple of Oly's.  I also did a bunch of running races from 5k's to marathons.

I didn't know about EN until I read a post on a BT forum a couple of weeks ago.  I was thinking of getting a coach, but the cost was prohibitive for my budget.  I like several things about EN.  I like that I will be able to fit it within my budget. Well, it will be tight, but I can manage it.  I like the training concepts -- intensity over volume, ROI, minimal swimming in OS.  These ideas make sense to me. There's proven results with these concepts and with the plans so I feel good about the decision to join. I haven't trained with power meters before, but got spousal approval to get one so I'm really looking forward to that.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello and introduce myself officially here.

  •  On day 4 of my trial membership but confident I'm signing up.  I've been racing 5-6 years, all self-coached. Looking forward to interacting with .Coach R & P and the rest of the team. I live in NW Georgia if there are any other team members in the area. Starting the OS plan today, but finished my bike test yesterday.  Was wondering if anyone could direct me to a "zones graph" I saw on the the website a day or two ago while looking around...can't retrace my steps and find it now. Thank you!

  • Hey folks,

Welcome aboard, great to see so many new faces on the team! Please don't hestitate to ask questions and engage the experience of the team to help you with anything you need. The intangible of EN is the depth of experience and knowledge that our athletes share with each other.

Year after year, Patrick and I have observed that the faster athletes are the smarter athletes, who have made themselves faster by engaging with the team and LEARNING vs passively checking their training plan and dropping into the forums only once per quarter or so ask the odd question or two.

    Good luck!

  • Hi EN Team,

thrilled to join the EN team to work with you through the EN Outseason out of Germany with my Kellermonster (aka Bike/Trainer Combo)

Born 1972, I live with my wonderull life and our 3 boys (5/6/9y) and our baby girl (4 weeks ) in the area of Frankfurt/Germany.

I joined EN after listening to Podcasts and your Race Reports  I am looking forward to spent some good training time which will make me faster. I just started this year  training for races (based on Friels books)  and finished  4 olympic distances races this year.

My background in endurance is rather little,  but have been training and playing Volleyball over 20+ years.

    My goals for 2012 are

a.) to get into the 70.3 distance (grove)

b.)  become faster on OD distances (from 2:3x to 2:1x)

and stay there for a few years before moving to long distance

Looking forward to meet you maybe one day in person maybe at Las Vegas/Clearwater in 2013/14

    Kai

  • Welcome Kai — get ready to suffer and then crush your next season races. #workworks#

    Cheers
    Peter
  • Thanx Peter - I looking forward to.

  • Hi All

I'm in for IMC 2012 after having done a sprint and oly this year. I have a marathoning background but am weak in the swim, and am currently seeing a TI coach which is helping. I also coach my 7-yr old daughter who took 3rd-place at Ironkids Nationals last year (she's the tri veteran of the family!)

    Dan

  • Welcome, Kai and Dan!

Dan, I just sent you your season plan and accompanying screencast so be sure to check that out. Thanks!

  • Hi, I'm Robin from Oregon, here on a trial membership. I've been a triathlete for 25 years, but looking to improve performance at IM distance with an eventual goal of KQ so I'm checking out what EN has to offer. I'm signed up for IM CdA in 2012.
