  • Hello all,

This is my second year in triathlon, and my third year being extremely active (not that it was a choice at the beginning). I am 21 and, I was never really got into sports all through school. I then joined the Army, and started running when my wife and I were stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC. When we moved to Germany I started cycling, which transitioned into a 'hey, lets give this triathlon thing a try.' Now that its about about 2 years later, here I am looking to get a structured training plan. I look forward to 'meeting' you all and starting a structured training plan.
  • Welcome Ken. Given how full I expect your work schedule to be, you have definitely come to the right place for tri training. There are no hours and hours of hours and hours here. Where in GE are you? I was at Ramstein many years ago (93-94).
  •  I am living in Heidelberg for now, we might be moving to the Wiesbaden area sometime in the next couple years though.

  • Hey Ken,

Welcome to the team. I am living close to frankfurt i am native german image and pass heidelberg every week 2times. Maybe we can meet for some ride. What are you races? Get ready to work image

  • Hi all, just signed up for the 5 day trial. I have done a sprint and three Olympics over the last 11 months, as well as some other training. I, too  signed up for IMAZ. I am very excited to see what EN is all about!

  • Hey there, just signed up for the 5-day trial. I've heard good things about EN, but I'm on the fence about starting it up right now. School's taken up a lot of time this year, so I only have about 10 hours a week for a half I'm aiming for in September. At least I'm in decent shape. Wondering what kind of plan with turn up, and how I might interact with it. Cheers.
  • Hi everyone,

I just signed up for the trial and planning on staying with it for the season due to the amount of resources available.  I run a Performance Center in Saco, ME and brought Patrick out to speak at our Endurance Expo back in January and really loved the material he presented.  Since then I've been lurking around on the blog reading some of the free stuff and couldn't take it anymore and made the plunge.  Very happy I did.  Competing in my first HIM at Mooseman then doing another at REV 3 OOB, ME at the end of August.  Looking forward to interacting with folks on the site and pouring through the information.

  • Hi I am totally new to EN. I started in tri about 5 yrs ago and did lots of short course and FL 70.3 then took a break from racing, but not training, for nearly 2 yrs. Just completed local Oly and doing Austin Trirock in Sept. Used a coach for my 1/2 IM. Really excited to be back on track!
  •  Hi everybody.  I just signed up for the free trial.  I've known of EN since 2008 or so.  I even attended the 4 Keys talk at IMLP that year before my first IM.  You guys didn't mention anything about rain!

I had a 1 on 1 coach from 2007 thru early this year.  I've been curious to see how EN might work for me... so do your worst!

    Steve

  • Welcome Steve. One thing is for sure, you will really learn how to suffer (in a good way that is image).
  • Hi EN Team,  I'm new to EN and looking forward to benefiting from the EN Team.  My next big race is the IM Louisville.  I've been training hard for it and using a self-modified supercoach plan.  I've been focusing a lot on my swimming as it is my challenge.  Two weeks ago I added a long swim on the weekend.  I am swimming 15 minutes longer each long swim and started with 1 hour, then 1:15, and tomorrow 1:30.  I will keep increasing till I get to 2 hours.  Then I'll switch those long swims to a quarry for open water.  This long swim strategy just feels like a good way for me to build my confidence.  My other IM was in a wetsuit which is much easier for me.  Cheers!

  • Another newb here. Found out about EN from the 4 keys DVD at the local multisport expo a couple months back. Kept those keys in mind to shave 40 minutes off a HIM time recently, and was convinced that this was the place I wanted to be because it seems like RnP understand that life isn't 100% about training. Also tired of hearing people in other forums outside of EN using volume as the solution when someone asks how to get faster when I've noticed big gains using approaches that appear to be similar to what EN uses (ie, threshold workouts).
Doing IMLP (my first IM) this year and already plotting how to approach training for the next one - whenever that may be.
  •  Greetings,

I was born ansd raised int the Toronto area. Ironman brought my wife and I to Penticton where we spent 3 years. We now live in Victoria, the endurance capital of Canada. I am looking forward to sharing the hard yards with the crew. When the time comes in 2013 i am going to cash out that account and lay the smack down on IMAZ.

    Happy training,

    Dave

  • Hey guys - Joined with the free trial - working towards Augusta 70.3 on September 30th and Beach2Battleship on October 20th. Better late than never - ha ha! I dipped my toes in the Team EN water a few months back but it I think the timing was too soon after a couple of marathons so I was over training at that point. Ready to really get focused again!
  • Finally signed up... after hearing more from my friend Ryan Miller...
I'm doing IMLP this year (finished it in 2008) to see how far off I am from qualifying for Kona... and next year with the help of EN, my goal is to come back to IMLP and earn a slot to Kona!
  • Hi!

I am doing the Free Trial and am really excited about the EN training philosophy.  This is my 17th season of doing tri's and I've seen a lot of variation in training approaches.  Mostly, overtraining!

This year, I'm doing Poconos 70.3 and planning on Lake Placid in 2013.  I did LP in 2001 so we shall see how my body has held up in the past 12 years.  Yikes!

    Looking forward to the journey.

  •  Newbie here, just signed up for the 5 day trial to see what all the hype is about.  Starting racing tri's in 2004, quite later that year because I couldn't swim.  Tried again in 2008, planned on IMFL, but took several lessons and couldn't swim.  Then Jan 2012, I bought a P2 and started training.  I've done 3 sprint tri's and a half marathon so far.  I've done several private lessons and did the Masters swim program for a month.  I have 3 young kids (4 and under) and a demanding career, so the ROI philosophy appeals to me.

I have Ironman Branson 70.3 in Sept and IMTX in May.  I'm worried about burnout and not finishing the swim of the races.  I'm a larger athlete at 6'5" 205lbs and a classic sinker in the pool. I'm unbalanced, not comfortable, and my legs drag.

I hope to gain efficient, effective training plan and concepts.  I'd also like to pic up useful swim drills to save money on local coaching that seems to just want me to push further in the pool.

    Let's do it!

  • Hello, new 5 day trial member - sure like the look of everything that I have seen so far on the site. I have done quite a number of endurance events but have never had any coaching, just run and bike and swim a lot an hope it works out. As my age increases that plan is going to need some help. Looking forward to Team EN and members to help take me to the next level. I will complete my first Ironman race next year but want to do it to the best of my ability - no random outcome this time.
  • Hi! Just signed up for the 5-day trial to check everything out. I'm excited to explore the site given what I know so far. I started triathlon in 2008 as a personal goal when I turned 40. I've completed several triathlons since in all distances up to HIM. My wife is competing in her first IM in a few weeks (IMC) and i have been bitten by the IM bug watching her and have signed up for IM CDA 2013 as my first IM. I have been self-coached = means I bought a plan and crossed my fingers. It has been an ok experience but with the daunting nature of an IM I'm looking forward to the guidance/support of the community to ensure that I have the tools to be successful next year.
  •  Hi everyone-

I hope your seaon is going well and you are having  a blast.  Just wanted to introduce mysef.  My name is Joe Riggio and my famly and I currently live in Ashburn, Virginia.  I did my first triathon, Reston tri, in 2006 and since then I have two IM, Louisvile, and several 70.3 snce the. I recently took a season off of tri racing to train and compete in my first ultramarathon which I completed in June, North Face 50 Miler in D.C.. It was a great experinece and plan on doing more!

I have heard alot of great things about EN so I am here to check things out and get a feel for how everything works and share when I can.

Once again I hope everyone is enjoying racing and training this season!

    Take care-

    Joe

  • Hi Everyone,

I am new to EN and looking forward to getting started. I just signed up for the Lake Tahoe IM September 2013 (my first IM distance), and have two 70.3s in my sights a bit sooner (Superfrog in September and Oceanside in March). Looking forward to learning a lot more about training for the Ironman and hopfully feeling a bit less like a lost puppy.

    Valerie

  • Hi All,

Just signed up to give EN a shot I am still at the short course stage of my Triathlon career so looking forward to testing out the new focus.

  • Howdy Endurance Nation!

Taking advantage of the 5 day trial to get a better idea of what EN has to offer. I like what I have heard up to this point regarding efficient use of time and training. The idea of Fast before Far really resonates with me and I am excited about giving some of those workouts a tri. All of this is in anticipation of IMCDA in June '13.

  • Hello - I'm Cath, living and working in the beautiful Bonaire, Dutch Caribbean. Doing my first HIM in Miami.
Looks like EN has a vibrant community and top class tips/training program.
Looking fwd to meeting a lot of the tribe!

  • Hello Endurance Nation, I am on the 5-day trial, and on a journey to IM Lake Placid 2013. I did a couple of 70.3's this summer without the input of a coach and am thinking I need a better game plan! Chris

  • Welcome Cath and Chris, lots of good stuff going on in the Haus.
  • Hi everyone! I am a trial member of EN. My two brother-in-laws Terry and Michael Olivas have been members of EN for several years now and I love what EN has done for their fitness and racing. I did IM Coeur d' Alene this past June with Terry and he took me to listen to Coach Rich's talk before the race. Terry and Rich really helped me through that race and I wasn't even a member. Now, I am happy to be IN!
  • Hi Melissa, great meeting you and welcome aboard! Nice to see a trial member already in an EN singlet ;-)
  •  Hello from Texas,

New to the Endurance Nation, been following to team through the Pod Casts, and I am looking forward to getting to know as may people as possible.

I am currently training for Lonestar 70.3 and Ironman Cozumel (fingers and toes crossed) later this year. I am new to Triathlon, so I have so much to learn about training and race exicution.

    Chris Sebastian
