  • @Vicki - Where from Iowa are you from? Theres several of us Iowans here, mostly from central and eastern iowa.
  • Hello. I am here to checkout EN to see if it is a good fit for me.

I am new to racing, registered for St George 70.3 and was recommended to EN by member Doug Herr. I live in Battle Creek, MI, run with the Kalamazoo Area Runners and Battle Creek Area Runners. Spend much time in Zanesville, OH and Layton, UT for work, trying to train in multiple locations.
  •  @Ryan welcome great to have another Michigander on board.  I am new to EN as well, hope it will help with IM Lake Tahoe.  I am from Chelsea.

  • Hello everybody,

I'm Ted from Orange, CA. I'm doing IM CDA and it's my first IM. After hearing my former coach's accomplishment this past IM and hearing that his friend had qualified for Kona, I just had to check EN out. I feel as if my passion for the sport has been reignited. I look forward to an awesome season with you guys!
  • hi everyone,

my name is eric johnson. i'm a triathlete from missouri and decided to give EN a try after great feedback from my buddy ken sharlin. i'm training for IMKS 70.3 and IMAZ with some scattered "fun" races thrown in. so far this is pretty fun. looking forward to learning a lot.
  • Welcome Eric. Two things -- (1) Have you submitted your Season Survey? and (2) Have you started exploring the Wiki? I highly recommend both as your first steps inside EN. If you are willing to learn, I guarantee you will do so here!
  • x2 on what Joe said. Welcome to da Haus. Lots to learn. Devour the wiki and start "watching" some of the active threads and ask all the questions you can. Oh yeah, and get to work!
  • thanks for welcome guys. coach rich got my plan set up a couple days ago.

did the bike power test today - boy did that suck!! lol.

hoping to learn a lot from the group.
  • Introducing myself- Christy James, San Francisco area. Tackling 70.3 vineman again this year and IM Lake Tahoe plus various other small training races. I've done a couple other IM and a number of 70.3s. Looking forward to joining my current training partners already on EN with an official plan.

  • Introduction- Hello my name is Greg Hankins, I'm from Iowa.  A friend of mine (Daniela Williams) referred me to EN almost a year ago and have been patiently waiting to join.  I have kind of an odd season planned this year mixed between Xterra and HIM and am looking forward to working with EN and everyone here.

  • Hi My name is Ralph Moore. I live in coastal SC am a total newcomer to triathlon who has been fooling around with local Sprints near where I live in SC for the past year or so. I just decided to get serious and work up towards an olympic length event by the end of the summer. At 6'4" and 220 lb I certainly don't have the body habitus of a runner but I do OK over the shorter distances and I am all good with the 3 year plan. I look forward to working with you folks.
  • Hi... I'm Sabrina. Just joined as a trial member to see what it's like. I'm looking forward to training and interacting with folks.
  • Hello...My name is Gustavo,  I live in TX.  Been doing a few triathlons and running races for about 5 yrs.  Mainly sprints but i have also done HIM and IMAZ in 2011.    I have also ran a few marathons and 1/2 marathons as well as local 5k and 10k.   Looking to train with more focus since i mainly just go out and do whatever I can whenever I can since I am pretty busy ( like all of us!, Family, job etc).  I have 4 more weeks until IMTX and hoping to just finish since i really have not been able to put in as much time as I did  for IMAZ.  Want to improve my swim time and technique  currently swimming at about 1:55 to 2:10/ 100yd  and also train more with power guidance on the bike.   Very timed crunched so I want to get the most out of every work out.   Looking to learn from the more experience members and coaches since i know a lot of us are on the same boat.   Thanks

  • Welcome Gustavo, please join us over in the IMTexas group/threads. We've got some good mojo going on and welcome your input image
  • Welcome to the Team!

@Ralph-- I was 6'-1", 220 a couple of yrs ago and now I'm 6'-1" 185lbs. There are plenty of other big guys in da Haus! I've found that the little guys are much faster at the short stuff, but tend to break down from poor execution as the distances get longer.

@Sabrina-- Welcome to da Haus! There is a tone of info and knowledge so feel free to ask any questions.

@Gustavo-- Even on short notice, there will be a lot to be gained for IMTX simply through smart execution. I recommend reading all the past IMTX race reports and listening to the old Race podcasts from last yr as a starting point. Good luck!
  • @Sabrina! Lots to learn by just browsing through the enormous Wiki! Don't let it overwhelm you.

@Ralph - I'm 5'10" and come in @185lbs. EN will get you as good as you can get - minus genetics!

@Gustavo - soon it will be all about execution and RnP have got that nailed down!
  • Thanks JW. I will definitely check out the IMTX. Forum thread. This race will be all about execution for me. Since I don't think I have the endurance and preparation to actually try to race against my previous time. I am using this race as prep for IM cozumel and just to see what I can learn and apply in November and future smaller races. This will be my first time using a power meter for a race I am looking forward to see how I do on the run if I keep my power in check. Thanks to all and looking forward to learn from you.

  • Will do Roy. Thanks. Look toward to seeing and hearing what you guys are up to and learning from ya.
  • Hi everyone.  My name is Brandon Wilson.  I am a complete newbie to triathlon.  I have been cycling consistently for the past year and running consistently for the past couple months.  Swimming has been quite a challenge but is coming along slowly.  I am hoping by signing up here I can learn enough to avoid some common mistakes in starting out.  I have listened to many of the podcasts and am hoping that this type of program will work well for me.  I plan to do my first sprint in two weeks and this years ultimate goal is the Malibu Olympic tri in September.  If all goes well from there IM Wisconsin 2014 is the goal.

  • Welcome Brandon! Lots to absorb and read, ask away.
  • Thanks Mary.  I grew up in Wisconsin.  I posted a question in the new member forum.  My initial question is asking whether or not it would be beneficial to a complete newbie like to be a member with EN.  This is my first year in triathlons and my main race goal this year is just an olympic distance.

    Thanks again.

  • Hello everyone!

Im new here!  A little about me.  Im from Ajax, Ontario Canada (anybody in the area?).  I started running in nov of 2010 but I slip on ice and got injured.  I was looking for something to do and found my mountain bike in the garage.  So I borrowed my friends trainer and made that  whir whir whir sounds in the basement.  Then I was inspired by the Ironman in youtube but did not know how to swim at all!  A week later I showed up to masters class, in board shorts and no goggles and cap, in one of the closest club here.  They tossed me into the pool and told me to swim.  I swam 12m (just before the black line mid way) and grabbed on to the wall.  Since then Ive done 3 sprints, 3 half ironman and 1 ironman.  Im in love with the Ironman distance! but cause of time constraint (probably like most of us here family, work, etc) Im only doing Syracuse Half ironman (anybody?).  I attended the Lake Placid rally Patrick held last year and I had a lot of fun and learned a lot from him.  Ironman race day execution on the other hand didnt go as planned and Im hoping you guys can help me refine that!!!  Looking forward to work with you guys! thanks!
  • My name is Mario Agnese. I am 39 yr old and live in Katy , TX. I am Brazilian, father of two great boys.

I am a beginner in the sport. Have recently completed my 1st Triathlon - Half - IM Galveston and now looking forward to complete IM Arizona this November.

  • Welcome new members!   I've been in the Haus for 4 months now and loving it.  Besides the great training plan you will find lots of smart, helpful and supportive people here.  Enjoy!!
  • Hello all,

My name is Joe Orick and I am a new member living in Muncie, Indiana. I have just started this sport and I think I am already addicted to it, if that is possible.  I was given a copy of "Four Keys to Long Course Triathlon" to watch and I jumped full blown into the sport.

I was very impresssed by the video. I really enjoyed the low key, yet common sense approach to training and racing a triathlon. I look forward to training for my first triathlon and meeting other individuals involved in the sport. I appreciate any and all help that I receive. Thank you.

  • Hey everyone,
My name is Vince Tur-Rojas, from Washington DC. I'm transitioning from martial arts back into endurance sports. Most of my past experience is with running shorter races, and some swimming. But, no bicycle experience. Did a couple indoor sprint tris this winter and am looking forward to a bigger challenge. My plan is to work my endurance this year, complete a couple obstacle course races and the Marine Corps Marathon, and work up to a half IM and IM next year. I really like the philosophies of this group, so I'm hoping this will be a good match!

    -Vince
  • Vince, welcome from down in Woodbridge. There's quite a few of us NOVA/MD/DC folks in the Haus. We need to get together sometime to have a small ring social bike ride. Good luck with your season!
  • Vince - interesting! I am considering doing some martial arts this off-season. Why the switch - can you do both?
  • @Mario - I did the Katy tri on 31 Oct in 2011! Nice area! Welcome to the Team!
  • @ Brandon, I think it will be beneficial to learn all the haus has to offer. You have to learn sometime, you might as well get the best information available, for "just" your olympic race, which incidently I think is the hardest distance race.
