@Roy, nice to meet you! Great to have some DC area people here.
@Joe, I've been pretty hardcore into martial arts for the past 10+ years. It can be hard on the body, though, depending on the styles you pick. A number of boxing related concussions, a pinched nerve (that I don't want to get operated on), and age in general have effectively restricted me to teaching only. BTW, I trained with some of the San Antonio Krav Maga instructors back in 2003 and they were really good if you're looking for a good school.
Thanks for the information. I felt a bit out of place with it being predominately long course people on here. The olympic seems so small in comparison. Thanks again! I'm gonna sign up and give it a go.
Hi everyone! My name is Carolyn Van Tine, but my nickname is CiCi. I have my first Ironman this August: Ironman Sweden which will be held in Kalmar on 8/17. I am really looking forward to getting to know everyone, and of course improve my training! I live in a suburb of Boston, MA.
Hi everyone. I'm a beginner ironman living in New Zealand. Got an entry for IM Western Australia in December! Just doing my Outseason training. Working hard for the first time ever!
Hi, my name is Shawn Dooley and I live in between Boston and Providence in a little town called Norfolk, MA/ Doing my first IM this year (Sweden Aug 17) and trying to fit all the training in - making it efficient without getting burned out. I'm 47 and not terribly fast. Of course I would love to do sub 12 but really just want to finish and enjoy myself. I have 4 kids and a wife. For work I am the Town Clerk as well as being a firefighter and emt so time is at a premium.
Welcome Shawn! You have definitely come to the right place for efficient training....no such thing as "junk miles" here. We have many athletes like yourself with busy jobs as well as multiple kids and their activities. You will find plenty of support in Da Haus.
Your finishing time will sort itself out, so please try not to think about it, *especially* now. August is a long time away. I assume you have received a Welcome Email from Rich and Patrick. Please be sure and complete the Season Survey so Rich can lay out a Season Plan for you. Next, I would recommend you start in the 'New Member Central' (under the Resources Tab above).....
Hi everyone, my name is Avi. I just joined EN last week. I am from Toronto, ON. My goal for this season is to complete my first triathlon. I will be doing a sprint tri in June.
My long term goal is to do an full IM. I have run a few marathons and its time to step it up to the next level!
Sweet! I am doing IM NZ next march. Do you live near Taupo? I would be a long distance open water swimmer if I did. That lake is amazing!!! DId NZ 10 years ago and the swim spoiled me so much, I haven't done an IM since
I'm 2 and a half hours north of Taupo. Went to this year's race and did medic for them. My main race is IM Western Australia this year but must look at entering Taupo too!
Hi team my name is Mike Picard and I am on a 7 day trial of EN. I like what I saw on line so giving it a try. I live in Sunol, CA about 45 mins SE of San Francisco. I'm 49 and my target race this year is IM Lake Tahoe. I turn 50 next year so my plan is to do IM Austria as a destination race/ vacation with my wife and 10 year old son (I'm racing, they are vacationing!) My Ironman debut was IM Arizona 2009 in 12:15 so I'm hoping to build on that experience with EN!
Welcome Mike. You have definitely come to the right place to get ready for IMLT. As to IMAustria, I know we have a couple of people who have done it (and at least one that lives there) so they can give you the skinny on that race.
My IM debut was also Arizona '09....and if I could go back to that day, with the fitness I had then, but the *execution knowledge* I have now, I KNOW that I would have had a much quicker day.
Bob from Atlanta here. This is my third (semi) year in triathlon. I did 2 sprint tris in '11 and 5 last year including Augusta Half IM. Over trained, screwed up my nutrition and was SLOW @ 6:19. Pretty much flat legs after about 10 mi on the bike. yuk.
Signed up for the FLIM in November. Gulp. Like everyone else, I've got a busy summer planned. Getting married, selling two houses, buying another and training for an IM.
Haphazard, unorganized, sporadic training thus far. Let's see if we can get this working like it should.
Hi, my name is Brent from beautiful Saint George Utah. I am 45 and have been running and doing tri's for 12 years. My passion has been running, but with age I have decided I should concentrate on tri's (less stress on the joints). I just completed Half IM Saint George on nine weeks training, due to off season injury.
I have supported my wife through four years of schooling and her first year teaching, so I have the green light to train all I want this season.
I have uses the traditional training techniques of high volume, slow speed and struggled with injuries. My times have not decreased like I hoped, so I decided I needed to take a different approach.
Hello all! Danny Dallis here. Live in Tulsa, OK but work in Louisiana during the week. Joined EN over past week after purchase of IM training plan. Originally a marathon only athlete was bitten by road bike bug and sure enough swimming was unavoidable as well. Decided a few years back to try them all together and I was hooked. I have participated in a number of sprint and olympic distance tri's, a handful of Du's. Last year I finished my first attempt at 70.3 IM in Austin. This year I started season with 70.3 Texas. Trying to keep up the momentum I committed to the IM Louisville in August. I know it will be tough and will look to EN team for wisdom and support. Thanks for the opportunity.
1st year doing triathlons. I've completed a duathlon and a sprint tri so far. I'm training for a few more sprints and olys this summer. In October I'll be doing the Austin 70.3. My plan there is just to survive, not to set the world on fire.
Work in IT flying a desk for a living in San Antonio, TX.
I'm training for triathlons to stop the weight gain/loss yoyo cycle that my adult life has been. Right now I'm half way to my goal to lose 50 lbs.
My family is awesome! Wonderfully supportive wife and two children. Here's a picture of me and my daughter after my first race:
@Caleb! Welcome to the team! I also live in San Antonio! If you have any questions about training opportunities, bike shop, races, or anything in EN - shoot me a note! Nice picture!
Hello Team, My name is Ricardo Trevino (RT), and I am 42 and from Conroe/Woodlands TX home of the IMTX. I am a year into Triathlons and have signed up for IMAZ to do my first though SmileTrain while raising money for children with Cleft Lips/Palates... This is an awesome goal to raise $5000 and I hope to complete this race in 12:30 if all goes good. I completed IMTX 70.3 in April in 6:34 with no coach and no execution plan. I know I can do better and am looking for all the help I can get. Just 2 weeks ago I hurt my knee and have been told to lay off the running for 4 weeks, so swimming and biking is what I am left to do for a little bit. My training has been swimming in my pool for an hour at a time giving me 39:10 swim on the half and a 6:10 bike... I have some friends that have completed the IMTX, with other coaches but after hearing and reading EN I know this is the place where I know I can learn from not just the coaches but the team.. I look forward to being part of the team!
Hi everyone! My name is Ann-Marie and I'm in Orlando, Florida . This is my 4 th season of triathlons and I'm looking at doing my 3d HIM - Rev3 Venice ( Florida) this season. Looking forward to seeing and using all EN has to offer!
My name is Jonathan (Jon) and am somewhat of a newbie. I am experienced runner and cyclist but never very good at swimming. I want to accomplish two triathlons this summer, Chicago LifeTime in Aug and 5150 Hy-Vee Triathlon in Des Moines in Sept. Additionally I will be running the Des Moines Marathon in October. (My hometown) I am 26 so still feel young but want to get in the sport where I can still develop speed. I am looking forward to meeting some of you!
Welcome to the team! I'm just east of you near Iowa City. I'll be at the 5150 this year and have been tossing around the idea of the Des Moines marathon. Any other local tri's on your list this year?
I'm a soon-to-be 28 year old from Boise, Idaho. I started olympic distance triathlons in 2009 and did my first ironman at IM Coeur d'Alene in 2010. Since then I have been doing Boise 70.3 each year with the last one being a few days ago. This year I am returning to the full distance at IM Arizona this fall. Looking forward to consistency and all other resources the team can bring.
Hi my name is Alisha. Though new to EN I am not new to triathlon racing. I have been racing for over 20years with mixed results. Completed two Ironman and about 14 half ironman races. As Alisha I have three half ironman races. My goal this year is to compete in the Nationals Long Course Championship in Las Vegas. I went to St George to qualify for the the Nationals which turned out to be World's long course championship. Though I did not race well. I managed to obtain that coveted slot.I do not want to have a poor race at the World's so, I practicing training in the heat when possible. You see I live on the Oregon coast and heat is not common here. I plan on using the Pacific Crest Half Ironman for practice. The high desert in Oregon can get quite hot. I decided to purchase the EN half ironman training plan to guide me along.

I'm Earvin and I completed my first Ironman race last year in Arizona. I'm currently training for IM Lake Tahoe and I'm signed up for IM California 70.3 for next year. I'm hoping to get back into IM Arizona 2014 so I can set a PR for that course. I just signed up as a volunteer yesterday - excited! I live in Fullerton, CA but spend most of my time in Santa Monica.
A few of my friends referred me to Team EN that raced with me in IMAZ and either PR'd or qualified for Kona in their age group. I'm hoping to do either one the next time around.
I am Richard Hurt from Monett, MO. I have been doing triathlons now for 2.5 years. I have done 3 HIM's and 2 Olympics and multiple sprints. I am coming to this nation in order to get ready for my first Full Ironman in October. I am wanting to do the Beach 2 Battleship race in North Carolina on October 26th.
I am a stay at home dad with 4 kids. I have 2 boys and 2 girls that I take care of along with training as close to 6 days a week. I get at least 5 days in for the most part. I add a lot of miles on the trainer and treadmill.
I have heard only good things about this training and hope it helps me get to the next level. Which I would love to take about 20-30 minutes off of my bike to get my HIM race time down to that 5-5:30 hr mark.
wish you all the best with your next race. Richard
- single mom of two 6 year old boys with special needs
- work full time
- have no clue what I am doing but I tried a spring distance and loved it, so then did an olympic and got a real wake up call to get a hold of more proper training that will fit in my little available box
- doing my first half IM in 2 weeks at the Racine 70.3, my home town, pray for me please LOL
- Opted for Total Immersion swimming technique as I struggled badly in the sprint swim. LOVE it and can now swim any distance basically.
- Have my eyes on a full IM at Coure D'Alene in June of 2014. That is my goal.
- Weight loss is a part of this, lost 15 so far, looking for 30-40 more. I am currently what many races consider the Athena weight class. I'll take that, for now, Athena was a goddess
