We do max pushups twice a year for our Navy physical readiness test. That plus max situps and a 1.5 mi run. My last test was 3 days before IMFL. I did 76 pushups, 95 situps and ran a 9:20 (my fastest is 9:08 6 months earlier).
So I'll log in with a starting point of 75 (for round numbers)
I printed out Week 1 workouts for this challenge and left them on the kitchen counter in clear view. Just as I hoped, Joe comes back from a meeting this morning and says "So, you trying to do 100 pushups?". I just say "uhu". And he says "Whenever I work on that I usually get up to about 50-60 and then I just get bored.....so is your plan to do it in 4 sets of 25?"
Tee hee hee- I swoop in for the kill. "No- 100 pushups strait through, no stopping or resting- that's the goal." He just kinda does this:
So I say "I just started this plan- it's 6 weeks long and at the end I should be able to do 100 pushups. Why don't you do it with me- it could be fun if we do it together!".
I think I have him! Just a few more pokes (especially when he starts to fear I can do more than him) and I think I'll have a training buddy!
I think this afternoon I'll mention how good the pushups would be for his surfing, that otta throw him over the edge!
That's great Bryan! I don't mind at all- think it's really cool when our activities get spread to other members of the family. Joe just handed me the entire set of workouts printed out in a small pocket size guide. I asked him if he wanted me to add him to the EN Google Doc and he shook his head "I planned on just writing it on this pocket guide". I'm pretty sure he's "in"!
That is great Bryan! Tried to enlist my boys this morning, 19, 14, and 11. The 19 year old might be in and prolly can already do 100 ; the 14 says he already does many pushups in dryland training (he swims for the local hs swim team) so to add more "whats the point mom???" and my 11 year old just kind of rolled the eyes! It will be fun to see what your boys can do
Week 1, day 2 for me, and it felt harder than Day 1. I am regretting this already. Luckily being accountable to EN will keep me from quitting. Also finding that I need to stretch my shoulders a lot more.
having trouble with getting to google spreadsheet, mine is a whopping 8, level two but the dog was diverting me!! as I struggled to get to 9, now to find the sheet to enter in 2' of situps? that was 50. m
I did Day 2 of week 1 this morning- 35 total pushups. Ouch!!! I did my best to rest & stretch my arms/shoulders out during those 90 second rests inbetween sets.
Hubby is completely in at this point. He's on week 3 as well and says it seems too easy. ARRRRRRRG!
The boys (13,10) and I have done 2 days of the routine this week and it seems to not even faze em! We all do the same number except for the "max" at the end. They are digging it and I am trying not to let them see me grimace!!
