Push-ups are going pretty well...I start week 5 this week. Finally got around to getting my third set of pull-ups done. I have a ways to go before I can do 25 in a row!
I'm still going too. Every time I look at what I have to do on that program I think "oh no". But I am always surprised by how much I can do. I've never been able to do more than what is required by that final "Max" set- in fact most days it's all I can do to hit the minimum. But I'm still progressing, so I guess that says something.

I'm exactly the same Nemo! I am usually suffering just to get to the minimum on the last set, but I always force myself to do all of them even if I have to take a more recovery time then they say.
I just printed week 5 and start tonight, and like usual, I'm not sure I will be able to do it, but I'm gonna try.
Week 4 day one was rough. I took 3 days off, maybe too long in between weeks....anyway only could do 111 and last 9 were on the knees! Was supposed to do 32, could only get to 23!! Maybe switching columns for day 2. How is everyone else doing on week four?
Ditto here - my challenge momentum took a big hit late in the holidays.
At least someone tweaked the spreadsheet to sort by total number (thanks!), so I'm off the top of the table and can hide mid-list in relative anonymity.
Scott- I'm still working on getting hubby to set up a pull-up bar (this weather isn't helping since plan A was to put it outside). The 20 pull-up challenge will be a nice little nudge! I like that they have a "here's what to do if you can't even do one pull up" option. I may be stuck in week -1 for a long time, but at least it's a start!
72 for me today. Feeling like I am getting into the habit of pre-dinner family push-ups. I am still very sore from my first day of pilates on Monday but I could still do my sets.
My husband bought us a pull up bar (that we haven't installed yet either ), we are going to put off starting until after we all get to 100 push-ups.
Tough week for me too, finally got in day 3 did the 160 total but had to do the third set on my knees, got the last set of 40 out on my toes though. I did look at the pull up bar at the gym and tried a couple, but my arms were fried from the push-ups. Just got to keep cranking
For me, I'm like Nemo in that I look at the plan and think "no way can I do that, but I'll try". In the beginning I was resting 1 minute between sets cause I didn't read EVERYTHING. Now I rest the correct amt. Still on pace and am amazed every time that this is actually working! Very cool.
I'm on Week 4 Day 2. This is the first day I broke the 100 barrier (not strait, but still over 100 push-ups total)! I wasn't able to do the "at least" max and had to drop to the knees to push out a few more. I'm glad there is another test at the end of this week so I can figure out if I should repeat or drop down a level.
Seriously, the best part about this (and all of these strength challenges) is how little time they actually take. Can't beat getting stronger in minutes a day. Again, work works.
Wow! I just did week 5 day 2 and things got real hard real quick ... 8 sets for a total of 185. last set was 45 and I was REALLY shaking and turning red on the last 5. I had to take more like 2-3 minutes rest between the last few sets, but got them done.
Slooowwwlly fell off the wagon. Did finish week 4 about 8 days ago, but nothing since then so will go back and redo week 4 and then charge on. 4/1 - got it done. Dave

Matt, looks like we're both on week 5 day 2. I just eeked out 55 for my last set. Getting tougher!
Made week4 day 2 with 140! These are getting very hard to stay on toes for all the sets! Did like Sheryl, second to last set on knees, but only managed 15 on toes for final set....though, I did them all Don't even want to look at day 3
well shoot!! I was excited that I had just done 38, not consecutively but the most ever since this challenge begun!! Matt did 45 in one set!! I sorta slacked over the Newyears or something as spreadsheet is not syncing up with some of y'all but no worries, I just plug in my numbers into the next space available!! it hurts my knees to do them that way so just on my toes and checked the form today and seemed to be good! anyway thanks for starting this challenge! m

M, I am an ex-gymnast so my upper body strengh comes back pretty quick, plus the fact that I'm a guy and close to qualifying to be a EN L'il Peep helps as well.
ex gymnast!!! oh boy.... you are continuing to amaze me!! okay so some of the women are getting after it and kudos to y'all!! okay off to take daughter to??? gymnastics!! m
Marianne- I second what Matt said. I'm so impressed with everyone here (chickas and dudes too) that are getting through this challenge! It doesn't take much time (which is awesome like Michele said) but that sure doesn't make it easy!!
Once again I couldn't hit the 33 "Max" number on that last set. I came up with 27 pushups and then had to drop to my knees for the last 5 (I didn't count those last 5 in my total but I wanted to at least try to keep going).
Next up is the next Progress Test and I'm gonna be really interested to see just how many I can do in a row. To stay on the same level I'll need to do 36-40! I'll make the attempt on Sunday. I know there are a few folks who are a bit behind- but who else is testing this week? How are you feeling?

Ummm....I have been counting the knee ones also in my total....now I am confused, should I not be doing that?? I want to make sure I am counting and posting correctly! What is the consensus?
First day of week 5 nearly did me in, I did all the push-ups but really broke the set up. I did the first 3 rounds, rested (well I taught a strength class) did the 4th round with my class and then finished the last 40 before yoga. And by the way I am counting all the push-ups-knees and toes. My next day has 8 sets. but the reps are lower-I have a feeling I may be repeating this week. This is getting tougher
Thanks Nemo and Sheryl for confirming I am on track with counting knees+toes....week 4 day 3 tomorrow...can't wait ....you are right Sheryl, this is getting hard! My two oldest bought a pull up bar for their younger brothers 17th birthday yesterday...perfect timing
Posted By Sheryl Leonard-Schneck on 08 Jan 2010 08:38 AM We just got a pull-up bar too, it is taunting me
Taunting, for sure So, the boys put it up last night and we were all taking turns to see how many we could do....I did three My boys were like "mom, most girls can't do even one!" Here's to my built in cheering squad...gotta love those boys

I did my week 2/3 test today and am up to 47 push ups from 27 in my first test just two weeks ago.
Also making progress in the pull ups as I did 6 on the intial test and yesterday I did 5 sets of 5.

I also just printed out the 200 sit-up challenge (http://www.twohundredsitups.com/), which I'll start next week - and I'll add some other core work too.
Heck, maybe even the 20 pull-up challenge (http://twentypullups.com/) too.

38 is more than most women I know will ever do!
