  •  Oh Trent, so sorry...I can't imagine the grief. Love and prayers to the who,e family.

  • Trent,
I am sorry for you loss. We will keep you in our prayers.
  • Trent, I'm so very sorry to hear about this tragedy. Certainly your family comes first and I know Chris and Jenny would agree. Keeping your family in my prayers as well.
  • Trent - really sorry to hear about the accident...Take care of your family...there are lots of races, but only one family..
  • Trent this is so horrible. we will all raise a glass in honor of your sister in law and pray for your family, stay strong, the kids are truly fortunate that your families are so close
  • Praying for you and your family, Trent!
  • Trent... Prayers out to you and your family.

  • @AL T - it isn't too late for you to come join the party and fun... There are plenty of no-shows for this that i am sure we can get the Race organizers to transfer one of the entries to you... I can pick you up at any major NY area airport!
  • Al, you can have my spot if they'll give it to you. I'm not going to make it to NY. Let me know if I need to contact them to confirm the change.

Trent, hang in there. So sorry for your loss.

    Chris
  • Ok all, is anyone else out for the race? This is who I know to be out:
    Patrick
    Trent
    Ancona
    Malone
    Lombardi
    Stephanie S
    Gilliat
    Am I missing anyone?
Is there anyone who would like to do this race? As Chris said above the RD will transfer spots if we want to. But if.no one in EN wants to pick up the slots I will need everyone to contact the RD so he can open slots up to the wait list. Say we give it a day? Thoughts?
  •  Unfortunately, I'm also out.  Work is sending me to Minneapolis that day.

  • @ ALL, I am working with Tucker on securing a dinner spot, seems we are in a bit of a bind with local college graduations in the area. I wanted to try and get a handle on how many people and suggested dinner time...
Right now, i have a mexican place lined up 9 miles from the hotel at 6 PM, or there is a highly reccomended brew pub that we can occupy the bar at and hope for the best...
  • I am still all in and looking forward to seeing everyone. Count me in for everything. By the way, I understand the run may be on trails? Should I be bringing trail shoes or regular running shoes?
  • Someone just asked the same question on ST and the answer is regular shoes are fine.
  • Trent, so sorry to hear about your loss. My prayers, hugs and love go out to your family.
  • In for dinner or pub on Sat.
  • Here is the meeting spot for Saturday Night

what time should we all meet up?

should we plan an afternoon meetup at the pool at the Hudson Valley Resort where most of us are staying?

  • Mmmmmmmm, Mexican the night before a race sounds, well, um, not like my typical training meal, but I'm down for whatever the team is doing.
  • Scott- I think you forgot to add the link to that last post. Beth and I will be at the mercy of the kindness of non-so-strangers since we wont have a car. So I think hooking up at the Resort would be good.
  • I am emailing the rd and offering up my spot later today unless an ENer wants it. Lemme know. tanks.
  • @Chris, if you could hold off for a little bit that would be great. Stark is sending out a team email to see if anyone wants in, if nothing comes of that you can then email him and say you are out. Cool?
  • Does anyone have the address for the Lexington Hotel? Is it the one in Edison NJ?

Also, based on this, what is an approximate address of the race site?

Just trying to organize myself at the last minute to figure out where I'm actually going.
  • And what happened to the bar at the brewpub?
  • @ Keith - no no, NOT Edison NJ
here is the link to the hotel... www.hudsonvalleyresort.com
check the race spreadsheet page to see if anyone is looking for a roomie...I already took the spot from Pete Joachim.

here is a link to the preserve's location, the start point is the "Spring Farm Pavillion" http://www.mohonkpreserve.org/map-and-directions

also can see it on google maps if you search for "Mohonk Preserve"

@Tucker - we are all congregating at the Guilded Otter in New Paltz on Saturday evening - anyone want to suggest a time?

  • Race question. What IF are you all planning to ride at? I've never done a duathlon before. Actually I've never done a race anywhere close to as scary as this one before... I was thinking of somewhere around 75%, but am not sure if that means I'll be leaving too much on the table or cooking my legs for the latter part of the race... Anyone done this race before want to chime in?
  • I think we need a seance to find out that answer... i am approaching this as a BIG training day...
planning on a number like 75 for the first bike, i figure with 2 of the 5 mile loops done and having a good sense for just how tough they are, one can adjust on the 2nd bike loop and put more out there if desired... just my $.02

look skyward and ask Chris to guide you!
  • JW, if you go to the second post in this thread you will see Chris' RR. He had .85 for the first loop and .8 for the second. My plan is to target .8. Actually gonna kill myself til I hit the highest point of the course then use my ahem, weight advantage, to get my average speed up the final 2/3 of each loop.
  • For those of you interested in the course, here is the Garmin track of a ST user that rode the course a week or so ago...note that he doubles back and the last peak is not the course...

  • I want to target .8 IF, but there in itself is the question. Given my life schedule, I have yet to ride outdoors this year, thus the problem. No idea what number to base the .8 IF on, so I may just randomly pick a number that I like and completely kill myself. Can't wait and my one thing is "a beer at the finish line".....totally Chris G style!!!!

Oh, and one question...What set up should be brought to this race?  Training wheels only or is this an 808 and wheelcover event?

  • Keith: there is a pretty long thread on ST about this race that covers this subject around page 17 i think... the consensus is tri rig. One guy is using his new disk. The regulars tend to do IMLP and use this as a big tune up for that, so that is the answer. Apparently the road in/out of transition is a gravel/dirt affair, aside from that from what i have read, the road is in great shape save about one or two spots...

where are you staying? i am at the hudson resort and planning on driving the bike course on Saturday... the group Google doc sheet has everyone's contact. if you want to send me your email address, i will add you to the email distribution we have going around. sd@twgco.com

Planning on a meetup at the guilded otter in New Paltz on Saturday evening.
